About this property

Vacation apartment/apartment for 4 guests with 58m² in Bargischow (269021)

The historic building at “Dorfstraße 33,” located in the town centre, was likely originally used as a “pastor’s widow’s house” and was built in the early 19th century. However, due to the turmoil of the world wars and the post-reunification period, very few records regarding the building’s history remain. We acquired the building in 2015 and lovingly restored and modernised it completely by 2023. All work was carried out by our team of five and by local master craftsmen.

Today, the house offers contemporary comforts. The restoration focused on preserving the original fieldstone foundation and giving the classic façade design a modern interpretation. Large sections of the roof truss, parts of which are still exposed, were also preserved in their original condition.
The historic goat shed in the building’s courtyard was rebuilt over the course of more than two years by refurbishing historic architectural elements and completely renovating the masonry. Today, part of it is used as a bicycle storage room for our guests.

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is arguably Germany’s most scenic state, with a coastline stretching 1,945 km. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, you’ll find everything you need for a dream holiday. Its proximity to the island of Usedom guarantees top-notch cuisine and beautiful beaches. But even here on the “mainland side,” you’ll find features that are rather rare these days: for example, a 144-hectare moorland landscape that is home to beavers, wild geese, herons, and many rare bird species. Large and small game—badgers, raccoon dogs, and raccoons—can also be spotted here. The unique moorland landscape is perfect for hiking, biking, and picnicking. On “our” mainland side, just about a 15-minute drive away, is the renowned Relais & Châteaux Gutshaus Stolpe, whose cuisine has just been awarded a MICHELIN star; the estate also includes the old Fährkrug, located directly on the banks of the Peene River, where you can dine and relax in a casual atmosphere.

The bicycle ferry to the island of Usedom is accessible via a direct route from Bargischow. In just 15 minutes (by bike), you’ll reach the “Kamp” harbour, where you can relax with fish sandwiches (from a local smokehouse) as well as soft drinks, beer, sparkling wine, or coffee and cake. The ferry ride to the island of Usedom takes only a few minutes. The ferry route runs right past the historic “Karnin Bridge” and ends directly in the town of Karnin.

Among the most popular leisure activities in the region are a visit to the bison reserve on the island of Usedom and exploring the charming Peene River landscape by pedal boat, rowing boat, or kayak. The Hanseatic city of Anklam, with its famous Otto Lilienthal Museum, the historic city wall housing the Anklam City Museum, and various recreational facilities (indoor swimming pool, city park with animal enclosure, various dining options, weekly market), is only 4 km away.
There you’ll also find all the shopping options you need: Lidl, Aldi, Penny, Norma, a drink store, Famila, Deichmann, the post office, DM chemist, an optician, a bookshop, and several clothing stores.

Activities:
- Biking: Bike trips to the island of Usedom, the Szczecin Lagoon, and the Achterwasser
- Fishing (Peene River, Szczecin Lagoon, Achterwasser)
- Children’s playground (100 m away)
- Swimming (swimming spots accessible by bike and car)
- Wildlife and bird watching in the moor
- Museum and historic buildings in Anklam
- Indoor swimming pool (built in Anklam in 2022)
- Marina with a bike ferry to Usedom
- Canoe trips (rentals available in the area)
- Horse-drawn carriage rides (in town)
- Golf (in Balm on the island of Usedom, about a 30-minute drive)
- Water sports
The “Kamp” harbour is located about 7 km away. There you’ll find boat slips and a corresponding crane facility. We’re happy to assist you with renting a slip and handling the related paperwork. There’s certainly nothing better than exploring the lagoon in your own boat. We’ve been motorboat enthusiasts for 30 years and are happy to provide you with information about your boating holiday. If you’re transporting your boat on your own caravan, you can park it on our property for a small fee (on a residential lot).
