About this property
Sept openings, CUTE RETRO cabin, AC, Lake view, assoc. dock, pet friendly
Golden View cottage has been in our family since 1984. It is located in a lake-front neighborhood on the western end of Silver Lake (“the quiet side”), near Mac Woods Dune Rides & Whippy Dip (can you say ice cream??). It has a nice sunny large lot, deck, views of Silver Lake & the Dunes and private lake access including dock privileges at the shared association lot adjacent to our property.
We fully refreshed the cottage in 2021, new flooring, paint, furnishings. But celebrate the retro feel & design. It is adorable!
We have strict cleaning protocols for your sanitizing assurance between rentals. Guests bring their own bed sheets/pillowcases and bath towels. All mattress pads, pillow case protectors, bed spreads, bath floor mats, bath hand towels, door rugs, kitchen towels are replaced between each stay.
The cottage has AIR CONDITIONING! We are happy to make you more comfortable on those hot summer nights.
Silver Lake is an amazing place to vacation - endless fun, activities galore, and the incredible Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Lake Michigan beaches to explore. From this property you can ride your bike along the very scenic Silver Lake channel out to Lake Michigan. Take a tour of the Little Sable Point Lighthouse, catch a sunset or just park yourself on the beach and enjoy!
This cottage has a living area open to the kitchen, with picture windows looking towards the lake and yard. The association dock is just steps away for mooring your watercraft, casting a line off the end of the dock or swimming. The cottage includes a large deck with a kid's sandbox, firepit area, and swing set. And, plenty of room for the kids to play in the yard. We also have a second outdoor shower to rinse off after the beach. Just making sure this is clear - this cottage is not directly on the lake but steps away and has a view of lake & dunes.
There are 2 bedrooms, equipped with a queen size bed and a full size bed. We regularly upgrade our mattresses. We have a couch & comfy chairs in the great room. The bathroom has a tub/shower combo. The kitchen includes a dining table for 4 people and there is also a table/umbrella on the deck. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. toaster - the works! We aim to please the 'foodie' in you!
To make your stay more relaxing, we have loaded the book case with beach reads and books for the kids. There is also a toy bin and plenty of board games. We have also have a smart TV with ROKU, Xbox and WIFI fiber internet.
Outside there is a gas BBQ grill, deck furniture and fire pit. We have parking for 2-3 cars and a trailer (check with us on the size of your 'toy' trailer first).
This location is within walking distance to Mac Woods Dune Rides and Whippy Dip. The kids can ride their bikes safely on our paved neighborhood streets. Just a short drive away (2 miles to the downtown area) are go-karts/arcade, bumper cars/boats, miniature golf at Craig's Cruisers, shopping at Dunetown Mall, Ice Cream, restaurants, any type of water craft rental at the Wave Club, Jeep/Quad/Buggy rentals. Or, hop on your bike or lace up your running shoes and cruise the paved pedestrian path around the entire lake. A ride out to the tallest lighthouse on Lake Michigan, Little Sable Point, to catch an evening sunset is a must-do on your vacation bucket list. The Lighthouse is open for tours during summer weekends.
Come for the fun - return for generations!

Nice cozy place to stay while exploring the dunes and surrounding area. The cabin was clean and bed was comfortable. If you like nostalgia this cabin reflects it. The communication was A. We were able to check in early which was cool and meet the owners while we were there, nice folks...
We absolutely loved our stay! It’s our second year booking this property. The location is wonderful, and the shared dock allowed us to be picked up by family who has a boat for a trip to the dunes! Our two boys loved running in the backyard and playing in the sandbox. The cabin has everything we need; the hosts are wonderful! We’re so bummed it’s booked for next year!
We had a wonderful vacation at the cottage! It was a perfect location to Lake Michigan and into town. The cottage was clean and check in was easy. We will definitely stay again!
We love visiting this area. We usually camp but needed more convenience as we were traveling with a newborn. This little place was perfect for our family.
We had a great week. The place is perfect for our family.

Beautiful area! We return every year and have always had a lovely experience!
We love Goldenview Cottage! We have also stayed at the Beech house. Both are equally wonderful! We return every year and the Careys are always very welcoming and accommodating!
Perfect quiet neighborhood for our young family! Walking distance to whippy dip and Mac woods dune tours. Excellent street for biking riding and evening walks.
We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and walking to the dock. The cottage is quaint and well stocked to cook/grill. Tammy is a great host and communicates well. Thank you for sharing your home!
This little cottage had everything we needed for a long weekend on the dunes. A bit run down and grounds not too we’ll kept, but it was clean. Convenient location for dunes and activities.

Thanks for staying with us and I typically don't post responses to specific feedback, but I thought I'd add some context. The yard was just mowed and cared for the morning of the guest's arrival, but a very intense storm came through that afternoon, with strong rain, wind & hail - I imagine that left the yard looking unkempt. The cottage is in a quiet lakefront neighborhood and we all keep our yards nice, so this was an exception to the rule. As to the cottage - it is a vintage-feel cottage that we completely refreshed in 2020 with new flooring, paint, kitchen fixtures, new bathroom fixtures. This home has been in the family since the 50's - thus the retro feel. We just replaced the queen mattress this week - as we routinely do every so often. Thank you for reading!
We absolutely loved this home. It was exactly as described, and was perfect for our family of four with two kids, 5 and 7. The central air conditioning was even better than I’d hoped for! The dock was great; we were able to have family members swing by and pick us up on the boat on their way to the dunes, which was awesome. Thank you so much for having us! We can’t wait to come back.
The cottage was quaint but sufficient for our needs. The beds were very comfortable & the entire place was very clean & tidy. We enjoyed sitting on the deck with the view of the lake. My favorite place, the lighthouse beach, was just a short distance away. Just a short walk away was Mac Woods dune rides & Whippy Dip. I would definitely rent this place again & recommend it to others.
We couldn’t have ask for anything nicer. My grand babies loved it.
Tammy and her husband were great!! The cottage was lovely and very clean. The neighbors were awesome and very informative also. The only thing I can think of is that a clothes line and motions lights by the fire pit would have been nice. We would definitely stay there again.
The cabin itself has a little more space than I thought it would. It is very retro and rustic and reminds me of the cabin my family used to have. Unfortunately there was a big truck parked next door so we did not get to see the lakeview throughout the stay. The owners are fantastic in communication and provided us with towels and linens because I flew in and did not have those things.
Great location. Nice little cabin has everything you need. We enjoyed it a lot! AC works well. Great access to lake and dock. Even caught some fish! Garage door needs a little attention. Maybe a small hatchet for splitting firewood. We would come back!

We had some issues with this guest, including parking a trailer in our front yard (against our rules), bringing a dog without notification nor paying the fee, lack of communication all around.
We go on an annual family trip to silver lake. We meet up with about 20+ family members. We prefer a smaller rental for our family rather than sharing with multiple others.
The cabin was perfect. Central air, stocked kitchen, nice beds, room to relax, bathroom was clean with a tub, and we could bring our dogs. Tammy and Sean were amazing hosts. Quick to respond and were very welcoming. We felt like we were at a family cabin not some cold time share. We look forward to coming again and again.
Very clean property! First thing I noted when walking in was the cleanliness which is appreciated. The owners were very helpful. Had everything we needed for our week at the lake. Great location so you're not right by all the touristy stuff in the roundabout but not far either. Close to the state parks (check out the Silver Lake one with young kids for a small shallow beach and the lighthouse point state park for the huge Lake Michigan Beach and waves).
This was our first time staying in this area but we look forward to returning. The listing for this property is extremely accurate.

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Carey
Hi! Tammy & Sean Carey have been renting cottages at Silver Lake for 30 years, with many happy customers. The Golden View Cottage was passed down through the family, originally built by Mac Wood for his mother back in the 60's.
We pride ourselves on having very clean and well maintained/equipped properties. We live and work in the area and are available immediately for any maintenance issue or questions. Our past renters have become our friends, coming back year after year.
Why they chose this property
This property has a more 'beachy' feel than our other cottage available for rent at Silver Lake. You can see the lake & dunes from our property and take your watercraft over to the dunes. The sand dunes are without a doubt the best beach you'll ever hang out on!
We have raised our family in the Silver Lake area - we know the great restaurants, the cool beaches, where to hike, bike, and of course, we have dune buggies in our barns. We moor our own boat on the dock and love to spend our Sunday afternoons on the dunes! We try to keep in mind what makes a fun vacation and make sure our properties are equipped to create lasting memories. We have a welcome binder with all the tips - from wine tours, farm stores, theme/water parks to deep sea fishing - the Silver Lake area really has it all. If we can help you plan your vacation activities - just ask!
What makes this property unique
View of Silver Lake & Sand Dunes Long association dock with slip, fishing off end of dock Cozy cottage with AC Biggest yard in the neighborhood Family games, wireless internet, ROKU/smart TV Quiet, peaceful side of the lake - closest to Lake MI & lighthouse Whippy Dip & Mac Woods Dune Rides right across the street!
