About the host
Hosted by Donna Coupard

I have resided in Boulder since '91, originally from the DC area. I am a painter (former dancer) and enjoy gardening. My daughter was raised here at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I still live next door to Asio, which I purchased after having been the property manager for the former owner and good friend for over seven years. With the mountains, rivers, and canyons, the university, the thriving music and arts scene, and sports to participate in around every corner, Boulder provides everything I look for in life. It's not surprising it seems to regularly top a lot of the lists for good living.
Why they chose this property
I moved to Boulder in 1991 to attend graduate school at Naropa University. After living in various parts of town, I purchased the house next door to Asio in 2001 (which is where I reside) because of its location, the history of a close-knit neighborhood community, and living well close to downtown. When Asio came up for sale in 2012, I jumped at the chance to save the charming house from the wrecking ball (developers were wanting to build a large, modern house on the property). I spent much of 2013 lovingly and carefully renovating Asio inside and out, striking a balance between preserving and enhancing historic qualities, honoring features from a former artist/carpenter/owner, and including necessary modern conveniences. I think you'll agree we found a good balance.
What makes this property unique
Bungalow Asio is situated perfectly in Boulder, a short walk to shops, restaurants, and cafes, a quick run or bike ride (nice assortment of bikes are provided) to open space trails, three blocks from public transportation, and a fifteen minute walk to the Pearl Street Mall and downtown. Asio is surrounded by an adobe wall and privacy fencing, its property filled with mature trees, flagstone paths and patios, gardens, and three outdoor seating/eating areas. The kitchen makes any chef happy, the antique spiral staircase to the TV/getaway loft charms all ages, the gas fireplace warms up the coldest winter evenings, the swamp cooler (like an A/C) cools the hottest summer days, and the amazing quiet in the house calms all souls.
