About the host
Hosted by Ched Evans

Ched and Jane Evans have been vacationing to Vinalhaven every summer since we married in 1982. Jane since 1953. This family tradition started in the 30;s when Jane's grandfather bought the Herman Estate. The farm was a summer retreat for his family. The pine paneled entrance room has a wall of historic photos.
Why they chose this property
Vinalhaven is an idyllic island that allows visitors to enjoy a relaxing vacation. The Roost sits on the edge of a meadow filled with lupine and has a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean. Early risers can enjoy their cup of coffee and watch the sunrise from the sitting room or a spot on the deck.
If visitors enjoy the outdoors and exploring nature, there are several Nature Preserves that you can take advantage of. Hiking, sailing, and kayaking are all activities that can be enjoyed on the island. Excursions can also be organized ahead of time to see some of the wildlife that live in the surrounding area.
Saturdays you can head into town for a early breakfast and than enjoy the flea market near the open area by the church. There you can enjoy food, island crafts, fresh vegetables, and more. Vinalhaven is a place to relax and reconnect. We hope you enjoy this island as we have for many years.

What makes this property unique
This secluded home has easy access to the swimming quarries, village restaurants, hiking trails, offered by the amazing island of Vinalhaven, Yet the solitude of a sunrise can be enjoyed with the birds playing in the meadow. Sunbathing on the deck? That's always a priority for our oldest daughter. The heart beat slows and within a few days we are on "Island Time".
