Beautiful river home with large yard, sitting area and fire pit!

Welcome to our restful mountain retreat on the river (Estes Park Vacation Home Business License # 6040). Wade, sit on the rocks, or fish for wild trout in the Big Thompson River and feel your worries fade away. Eat lunch on one of the picnic tables as you admire the mountains, roast marshmallows in the fire pit, or simply relax on the large manicured lawn.

You can enjoy coffee or tea in the morning in the dining room as you watch the wildlife through 5 large windows. Or watch the wildlife from almost any of the other 30 windows in this cozy house - including the five windows surrounding the jetted tub in the master bath! End your day relaxing in one of the large recliners in the sunroom - listening to the river and the other sounds of nature. Views of the snow-capped mountains and the smell of the evergreen trees will stay with you long after you leave.

Our home is in a prime location. We are at the end of a quiet drive with a large private yard that runs down to the river. The entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is only one mile away where you can enjoy the many trails, rivers, and wonderful sights the park has to offer. Shopping also is available less than one mile away with many quaint stores, restaurants, and peaceful walks along the river.

We really enjoyed our time here. The furnishings were very attractive and comfortable. There are several outdoor seating areas where we could listen to the sounds of the river and watch the wildlife walking through the yard. The host was very gracious and helpful accommodating an issue with our arrival.

The house location was great, walking distance to town. Having the Big Thompson in your backyard was mesmerizing, we saw elk every day in the yard. Turkey visited each day as well and we had a black bear climb the tree while sitting at the fire pit one night. The house was well equipped for all your needs or wants. The owner was very responsive if we had questions. We would definitely stay here again!

Host communication, house, and location was spectacular. Clean house with all the amenities of your own home. Best experience on VRBO or those other sites I’ve ever had. Minutes from the National Park but the backyard had Elk everyday. Only bad thing were the Elk bulls were bugling in the backyard at 1 am and you couldn’t see them. I’ve been coming to Estes for 5 years and this was the best lodging experience I’ve had.

Location, location, location. Home has private access to river. Huge property. There was only 2 of us but home can handle much more. Delightful sun room when those after thunder showers hit. Plenty of outdoor seating. After leaving both my husband and I said it was one of our favorite rental properties. Just loved this place. Highly recommend.

This was a very lovely stay for us! Gail provided a ton of helpful information and it was smooth sailing checking in and getting situated. Very close to RMNP and downtown EP. Enjoyed the views in the backyard and the sound of the river and the wildlife (wild turkeys, squirrels, woodchuck, and lots of birds!) Would happily return for an another visit. :-)

The house was very clean, well stocked, and the materials used in the house were high quality. It felt much more like a home compared to many VRBOs we have stayed in that use cheap materials and finishes because it is a rental. The location is perfect for exploring the town of Estes Park and ideal for visiting all parts of RMNP. My son and I caught dozens of trout in the river right in the back yard. There was plenty of evidence that the elk herd visits the back yard frequently (wink wink), but we did not see any during our stay. That was OK because we saw countless elk in RMNP. We highly recommend this house.

WOW. The pictures don’t do this place justice. The backyard is AMAZING. We spent a lot of time there by the river. The furniture in the home is so comfortable. And the house is well stocked with everything you need. I have stayed at a lot of homes via Vrbo (and others that apparently you can’t name in a Vrbo review lol) the last 10 years and when you factor in location, the house itself, and the backyard, it’s the probably the best place I’ve ever stayed. I highly recommend!

Great Getaway

We had a wonderful stay. The home was clean, well maintained and the location was fantastic as it was close to the Rocky Mountain National Park and to downtown Estes Park. Our hosts we OUTSTANDING and so gracious to work with. We would definitely recommend your family stay at this location.

Jim and Gail Shroyer live in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They are the proud parents of four grown sons and 5 wonderful grandchildren. Both are emeritus faculty at Kansas State University. Jim was an extension wheat specialist and Gail was a science educator. Jim is a native Oklahoman and Gail is a native Californian, but both consider Estes Park 'home away from home'. They have been bringing their children and grandchildren to camp in Rocky Mountain National Park for over thirty years.

Why they chose this property

Jim and Gail bought Mountain Haven as their part time retirement home. They love the mountains, the rivers, the incredible wildlife, and the people of Estes Park!

Estes Park is a wonderful community with a multitude of activities. You can hike one of the hundreds of fabulous trails in Rocky Mountain Park, drive the Trail Ridge Road, watch animals, talk to friendly people, shop or eat in 'one of a kind' shops and restaurants, or walk along the river and enjoy the many water works in the center of town.
