Our newly renovated 16th-century mill, situated right above the river, is something truly special. Nestled in the heart of Lunigiana in northern Tuscany—one of Italy’s last nearly continuously forested regions—we rent out this wild and romantic setting to people seeking peace and quiet, those who are grounded (or those who want to become so).
Would you like to sit by the river, listen to the birds, bathe in the refreshing eddies, sit around a campfire, gather wild herbs, bake authentic pizza in a wood-fired oven, make your own pasta, and watch birds, deer, and other wildlife?
The starry night sky is absolutely breathtaking—with no light pollution (a telescope is available).

A gem for those seeking peace and quiet, sun seekers, cold-water swimming enthusiasts, cooking enthusiasts, mountain bikers, or simply those who enjoy the Italian way of life.
Also ideal for small yoga retreats, workshops, and digital detoxes.

Wood-burning stoves are available for colder days (season runs from April/May through September/October).

The mill is secluded in a beautiful side valley of the Magra River (yet very quickly accessible from the highway). A 4x4 vehicle or a car with high ground clearance is recommended, as the final stretch of the road can be difficult to navigate after rain.
Alternatively, the final stretch can be easily covered on foot in 10 minutes.
Shopping by car: a 10-minute drive to the village butcher shop, bakery, and small supermarket; for a wider selection, the market on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays is a 20-minute drive away.
A traditional pizzeria can be reached in 20 minutes via a beautiful walk.

There’s also plenty to discover in the surrounding area:
Pontremoli, with its market and museum, is 20 minutes away;
Mulazzo, one of Tuscany’s most beautiful villages, with its palazzo and winding alleys, is a 20-minute walk away;
Lakeside beaches and the historic sites of Luni—40 minutes away,
Cinque Terre—1 hour away,
Parma—1 hour away,
Lucca—2 hours away, Viareggio 1 hour

The mill is self-sufficient in terms of electricity thanks to a solar power system. Hot water can be heated using solar power or a gas cylinder. Cell phone reception is available. If needed, an internet connection via Starlink Wi-Fi can be booked as an add-on. A dishwasher and a washing machine are available (check the battery level).

You’d rather holiday in a sterile, tourist-packed hotel.
If you want maximum comfort and don’t want to worry about a thing.
If you’d rather avoid wildlife (there are—harmless—snakes, scorpions, wild boars, deer, badgers, jackals, bats, and many species of birds...)

There is no housekeeping service during your stay, and laundry is provided only upon request.
