Tucked away in the western Ore Mountains lies the rustic Tannengrün cabin. It is part of a small, historic group of just six Finnish cabins that nestle along an idyllic forest path like a string of pearls.
A popular hiking trail runs right past the door, allowing you to easily explore the most beautiful spots in the area on foot. From short walks to extended day hikes. For cosy evenings under the open sky, all guests at the Waldoase have access to a central, communal barbecue area.
The interior:
Inside, you’ll find a lovingly furnished space with a cosy living area, a practical kitchenette, and a compact bathroom with underfloor heating and running spring water (perfect drinking water quality).
Sleeping Arrangements:
Ground Floor: A separate bedroom with a cosy double bed.
Attic/Loft: Two additional small bedrooms are located in the loft. Important note: This is accessible via a typical rustic—but very steep—chicken ladder.
🌲 Surroundings & Attractions
Despite the idyllic forest setting, you’re perfectly connected to great places to visit:
Blauenthal Waterfall: Saxony’s highest waterfall is only about 800 metres away and can be reached via a beautiful short hike.
Sosa Reservoir: In just about an hour’s walk (approx. 5 km), you’ll reach this picturesque reservoir in a deep forest valley. The 6-km loop trail offers spectacular views of the Ore Mountains panorama.
Action & Family: Wurzelrudi’s Adventure World with its summer toboggan run, the climbing park, or the local visitor mine are all within easy reach and offer plenty of variety.
Wellness & Relaxation: The famous Eibenstock Swimming Gardens are very close by—ideal for your personal wellness programme.
City Trip & Culture: If you’re in the mood for old-town charm, Chemnitz is about 60 minutes away, and Dresden is about 90 minutes away.
Winter Wonderland
In winter, the Ore Mountains surrounding the cabins transform into a true snowy landscape. The nearby ski slopes are just a few kilometres away and offer perfect conditions for skiers and snowboarders. After an active day in the snow, enjoy the cosy warmth of your cabin and the crisp winter air of the forest.
