About this property
Rustico Casa Weber by Interhome
This 350-year-old, detached rustico has been carefully renovated to retain its charming Ticino style. Chestnuts can be roasted on the open fireplace. From the pergola with terrace, you can enjoy the view across the lake to Ascona and Locarno. A barbecue and two garden seating areas offer the opportunity for cosy get-togethers and al fresco dining.
The boat station (Ascona and Locarno direct) and a well-kept public beach (free of charge) with a restaurant are a 10-minute walk away. Plenty of play facilities for children and the traffic-free village centre of Casenzano offer parents a stress-free holiday.
There are various cosy Ticino restaurants nearby where you can sample the specialities of the region. Whether in spring for the splendour of the flowers, in summer to the lake for a swim or on a hike to Indemini or up to Alpe Neggia. Whether in autumn for chestnut roasting or for culture enthusiasts to Locarno and the Ticino valleys - the Rustico is always worth a visit.
Other sports and leisure activities: Excursions via Monte Ceneri to Monte Tamaro: on a clear day, hikers can enjoy a clear view of the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif from here. Monte Tamaro is one of the few vantage points that offers a view of the lowest point in Switzerland (Lake Maggiore) and the highest point (the Dufourspitze). Monte Tamaro offers even more for active sports enthusiasts. There are two mountain bike trails to choose from. A freeride trail makes its way from the middle station along a 700 metre long steep route towards Rivera. The downhill trail starting at Alpe Forra and running to the middle station was originally created for the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2003. You can also practise your skills in an on-site bike park.
Excursion options: A romantic footpath leads from Casenzano through a deciduous forest along the stream to the lake in just 12 minutes. Once at the bottom - in San Nazzaro - there is a very well-kept public beach with a small selection of snacks and drinks. The boat station is right next door. From here, trips on the lake to Locarno, Ascona, the Brissago Islands or to Italy (Cannobbio, etc.) are wonderfully relaxing. The botanical garden in Vairano San Nazzaro is known far beyond the country's borders for its wealth of magnolias and camellias. It is open on weekdays from spring to autumn from 7.30 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Sundays one hour later. Villages in the surrounding area can be explored - there is much to discover, and the range of Ticino specialities on offer is also attractive.
