General
This 80 sqm, 3-room apartment (non-smoking) is located on the ground floor of a building renovated in 2026 and offers space for four people. Adjacent to the living area is a private terrace with outdoor furniture. In front of the building there are public parking spaces for your car.
Living area
The spacious living and dining area is equipped with a sofa and a dining table (235 cm x 100 cm). For a cozy TV evening, a 43" TV with satellite connection is ready for you. You can also use your Netflix account on it. Of course, we provide you with a fast, wireless internet access in the entire apartment free of charge.
Sleeping area
You sleep in two separate bedrooms, each with a high-quality box spring bed (180 cm x 200 cm), for which we will provide you with bed linen. In both bedrooms you have the possibility to darken the windows with blinds for a good night's sleep. In addition, a clothes rail and other storage options provide space for your luggage.
Kitchen
In the high-quality kitchen you will find an induction hob with four cooking plates, an oven, a refrigerator with freezer compartment and a dishwasher. The carefully selected kitchen utensils will help you cook and enjoy. Our basic equipment also includes salt, pepper and sugar. For the preparation of coffee and tea, a coffee machine and a kettle are at your disposal.
Bathroom
The modern bathroom with shower has a towel heater and enough storage space for your personal cosmetic products. Towels and a hairdryer are provided by us.
Other equipment
In the entrance area of the apartment there is a coat rack. Within the building complex you will find a washing machine with detergent and a dryer. You can use these for a fee of €2.50 per wash or dry. The payment and reservation of the machines is uncomplicated via the app "WeWash". A laundry rack, an iron, an ironing board and a vacuum cleaner are available for your use in the laundry room.
Location
Our apartment house, “Osten – An der Schwebefähre,” is located directly on the Oste River dike next to the historic transporter bridge in Osten. Ample parking is available in a public parking lot directly in front of the building. If you’re arriving by train, you can reach our apartments via the Hemmoor train station. From there, buses run to the Birkenstraße stop, which is about a 7-minute walk from the apartment building.
Check-in & check-out
You can arrive from 4 pm. On the day of departure, we ask you to leave the apartment by 10 am. If these times are not convenient for you, please ask us before your arrival. Access to the apartment is contactless via a pin code, so you can flexibly arrange your arrival time. You will receive the necessary information in time before your arrival.

Location
The apartment house “Osten – An der Schwebefähre” is located directly on the Oste dyke with a great view over the not-so-small river and the extensive marshland typical of the coastal region. Just a few steps away, the historic transporter bridge spans the water: a fascinating technical monument and one of the last of its kind in the world, it is now considered a proud symbol of the region. The transporter bridge looks like an upside-down Eiffel Tower, suspended at a considerable height above the water, with a gondola “floating” above the water underneath it – a must-see!
In just a few minutes' walk, you can reach the center of Osten (the town and the river are pronounced with a long “O”) with its lovingly restored half-timbered houses. One highlight is St. Petri Church, which was built in the 18th century according to the plans of a star architect of the time – who was also responsible for Hamburg's Michel. A few steps further on, the cozy “Café Central” invites you to take a delightful break with homemade cakes. Those who prefer a more active pastime can cast their fishing rods directly behind the apartment house: the river is rich in fish, known for zander, eel, and pike, and offers ideal conditions. In summer, one of the guided boat tours on the Oste river is also well worth a try.
The nearby chalk lake of Hemmoor is a popular destination for divers and water sports enthusiasts. The Wingst nature reserve (approx. 10 km away) with its wooded hills is home to an adventure playground and a petting zoo; the highest point in this region is crowned by a viewing tower – the “German Olympus.”
Attractive cycle paths open up the region: at the transporter bridge, the Oste Cycle Path crosses the river and follows it to where it flows into the Elbe (approx. 30 km). From there, you can follow the Elbe Cycle Route to the North Sea spa town of Cuxhaven (another 40 km) or visit the town of Otterndorf – a real gem – halfway along the route. If you fancy some urban flair, you can reach the Hanseatic city of Stade in about half an hour. Hamburg is also easily accessible from the east – by car in about 90 minutes or comfortably by train from Hemmoor.
There are various restaurants serving regional specialties around Osten and Hemmoor, in particular freshly caught fish from the Oste River or the nearby North Sea coast. Hemmoor also has supermarkets, pharmacies, bakeries, and other shopping facilities.
The apartment house “Osten – An der Schwebefähre” can be easily reached by car via the B495 federal highway. There is ample parking available in a public parking lot directly in front of the building. If you are traveling by public transport, you can reach Osten via Hemmoor train station; from there, a (citizen) bus (line 1941 BB) and a shared taxi (line 1343) run to the Birkenstraße stop (approx. 7 minutes' walk).
Apartments
The ten apartments at our location at the transporter bridge are located in a former hotel that was completely renovated in 2026. The hotel was originally built in 1764 and expanded in the 1970s. With sizes ranging from 47 sqm to 80 sqm, the apartments offer enough space for two to four people. A washing machine and dryer are available for shared use in the basement of the building.
All apartments feature a modern, high-quality living and dining area with a sofa corner, sideboard, cable TV, and dining table. The living area opens onto a terrace or balcony (except for Apartment 1). Each apartment has a separate bedroom with a double bed. Some apartments also offer additional sleeping accommodations. All apartments also have a modern bathroom with a shower and towel rail. The kitchen, equipped with a refrigerator and freezer, an oven, a stove, and various kitchen utensils, completes your temporary home. High-speed Wi-Fi, towels, and bed linen, as well as all utilities, are included in our accommodation prices.
