So much potential

There is so much potential for this beach house. We loved the location, and enjoyed the Yachats area. The size of the house was perfect for a family of four. A deep cleaning and yard maintenance to allow for a better ocean view would make the vacation home elite.

Lovely Cabin!

We absolutely loved the location of this cozy cabin! The trail down to the beach, what straight out of the children's adventure story, and my kids absolutely loved it. It was so nice to be able to wake up in the morning and head straight down to the beach.

Front is shady but otherwise a nice stay.

Homey inside and has everything you need. Beach access is via a secret path that could be a bit treacherous for some. Very secluded and quiet. Overall, a great place to stay.

Great view and coziness

Great location! Nice views of the ocean and perfect for my family, we had beach access right at our back door. An older cabin that was great for my family! We loved it and will book again!

Solitude with a view

I wanted a quiet and private place to write, and Dulcinea's Cabin provided both. Only the sound of the ocean for company, it was a perfect writer's retreat.

great area, cozy cabin, very private & quiet!

Its not fancy, rustic, the window sills need to be cleaned..but I love the place as we were looking to get a break from work and relax, it was perfect for that! crashing waves, private beach. Its a tea or wine and a good book kind of place. comfy Necter bed. cons... small shower..watch that step..front door lock tricky...thats it though. I hope to be back

Great house, awesome views & easy access to (quiet) beach

Great house, right off 101, but it’s fenced so you won’t feel too exposed if you bring your pup. There is a quick path to beach, would be tough to get up/down if you have mobility issues. Quiet beach, only saw a few people all weekend. There is a more accessible path just a couple hundred yards south on hwy 101 (stonefield beach).

Great Location, Poor Property Condition, Not Clean

I must say, the location was absolutely wonderful! It was peaceful, private, and offered direct access to a quiet beach. The fire pit was a delightful spot for outdoor gatherings. However, the condition of the house was quite disappointing. The only positives were that the bed sheets, bathroom sink and toilet, and kitchen counters and sink were clean. Unfortunately, the rest of the house was covered in grime and dust. High-touch areas like cabinet handles, door knobs, and light switches hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There were dead bugs and cobwebs everywhere, indicating that the place hadn’t been properly cleaned in months. We also discovered a leak in the primary bedroom ceiling that dripped onto the floor, requiring us to place a towel. The bedroom comforter was dirty, so I washed it along with a few other blankets. I managed to clean the high-touch areas with supplies I found in the house and eventually enjoyed the stay.Regrettably, when we stripped the sheets for the cleaners, as requested, we found a small hoard of dog food and mouse droppings at the end of the bed, between the mattress and mattress pad. This discovery was quite unsettling, as it suggests that a mouse had been living under the sheets and in the bed without being noticed by the cleaners during the preparation for our stay. It seems likely that they only did a minor clean after the last guests left and didn’t do much to prepare for us, except to open the gate and turn on the heat.

Hadn't been cleaned

We were excited to stay at this house. However, when we arrived, it had not been cleaned since the previous guests had been there. Bedding hadn't been changed, dirty towels on the floor, and dishes in the sink. It also smelled quite bad because the full trash can hadn't been emptied. We opened the backdoor to air it out, but it didn't help much. The backyard is quite small and overgrown. We ended up not staying due to the smell and left. We had no cell service and the Wifi didn't work, so we had to go back to Yachats to contact Vacasa. They were very responsive and worked with us.

Photos of the property are deceiving

Property not as pictured. VERY overgrown. Inside - dusting, vacuuming and dishes appeared to be done, but the walls, cupboard doors, fridge, stove and shower were gross! Also there was what appeared to be black mold in the corner of the dinning area. Could have been a cute place, but no one is bothering to take care of it. We feel like we were taken. Vacasa checked with with us, and I sent them photos, but they did nothing except apologize for the inconvenience. We drove 8 hrs to get there, so it was very sad and disappointing.

Not clean, good location and views

The house itself was comfortable and had good amenities but someone seriously needs to overhaul the whole house for bugs and cleanliness. I read reviews and saw people mentioned cleanliness as a problem but I thought maybe they were just being dramatic...no they were not. There was a ton of bugs and bug nests and waste everywhere...I have pictures of it all. In the shower there was a huge wad of webs and dead bugs with weird black poop pieces on the shelves in the shower. There was a ton of cobwebs all over the walls and ceilings and in corners. There was also a line of ants marching nonstop up the wall in the bedroom. We also found s$x toys in the bedroom from another guest...very gross and made us feel very little uneasy about the state of the bedrooms cleanliness. My 6 year old daughter's bed had makeup sponges and sticks jammed down at the bottom of the sheets when we arrived. We could not afford to buy a hotel room instead, as we have a very tight budget for our vacation so we had to stay.

We had a great time staying in this cabin. Made some good memories with fam and friends. Waking up to the fresh salty ocean smell, hearing the soothing waves, watching sunset in the nice windy yet cool weather. Our dogs enjoyed the sandy beach and the cabin too! The cabin/house itself is cozy and has everything a traveler needs. It is definitely a little rustic and has small leaks under the bathroom sink, but overall didn’t hinder the quality of our stay.

A low-key, beach cabin/bungalow that was probably built in the 50s, or earlier, served u well. Two bedrooms, one bath, lots of room in the living room and kitchen, beyond the little back yard with picnic table and firepit, the endlessly rolling breakers. Great weather, great sunsets, great privacy, and the owners had done some remodeling to revive a tired interior – wood plank ceiling, solid wood beams, wood trim and window casings, the windows themselves, walls repainted, bathroom fixtures, custom shower stall – all looked good and contributed to a warm atmosphere. The price was beyond reasonable, also the cleaning fee. And the location was the real star here, a private path to a lovely beach with expansive sand, tide pools hosting little crabs and only a few distant humans and dogs in view. Having praised the cabin named Dulcinea, Don Quixote's conception of the perfect woman, we'll have to point out that truth in advertising the place let us down in two areas. The first was under Popular Amenities – Fireplace – and in the property description mentioned as "toasty wood stove." Yes, there are the remains of a fireplace, the firebox is walled off and behind the screen is not a wood stove but an electric heater. Big disappointment. The second let down was "Gas grill for cookouts." When was the last time the owners removed to grill cover and lifted the hood? We did and the grease and rust and spillover were appalling and made the grill unusable. So four stars instead of 5.

Cute Older Home

My family enjoyed making memories here. The house was mostly clean and everything worked well. It is on the dated side, but if you don’t mind that, then there are many wonderful memories to be made here. The outside trail to the beach was what made the stay magical for my kids. The beach is stunning! Tide pools are close and a long stretch of beach is also right there. It was a perfect place to fly a kite.

It was very stormy!

It was warm when we walked in, that’s always a plus! Although it was pretty wet because my glasses steamed up. You should definitely have a dehumidifier running full-time in the living room as well as the bedroom this time of year. We got hail and intermittent heavy rains all weekend! Both propane heaters got it really hot and quick making it very comfortable after a long day elk hunting in the freezing rain. The property manager got back with me very fast because I thought there was a missing propane tank and didn’t noticed it was hard piped out the back. The master bedrooms in a bit of an odd location, which requires you to pass through the little bunkbed bedroom or the bathroom to get to it. One thing I know will make this place much more desirable in the winter time would be a covered patio using patioroofriser.com hardware. Yeah, I think it was a great stay and will definitely stay again.

Awesome location, but house needs serious deep cleaning!

The good news- this spot was so beautiful! The beach was easy to access through a ‘secret path’. If you’re older or have issues walking it could be a little challenging, but for most it is easily accessible. It wasn’t very far from Yachats or Florence, but had a nice secluded feel to the property. Perfect for our 25th anniversary getaway! The bad news- this house is not very clean & needs lots of maintenance. Personally I love funky & eclectic houses. They add to the ambiance of a place, here being a funky, coastal cottage. But I think those things can be paired with cleanliness & upkeep. Unfortunately, that is not this place. Thankfully, I read a lot of reviews that said similar things before renting so I was prepared with my own cleaning supplies (I am a housekeeper by trade), and we made due. I believe that the location made it worth it. It was so beautiful and private. I do hope there will be a routine deep cleaning & maintenance schedule started on this house. It would make it even more great & 5-star worthy!
