Host was accommodating, place was clean and comfortable, location was quiet, adequate for what we needed for our short stay. Only part that was a let down was the listing said it was a 15 minute walk to the U of M which was a big part of why we booked. It was more like a 15 minute drive.
A perfect space for our weekend in MSP. Beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood, with very accommodating hosts— we booked our stay on very short notice. Nonetheless Robert and his family welcomed us into their clean spacious unit. Would certainly book again. Ps We were also extremely lucky to meet their adorable golden retriever :).

Enjoyed our return stay
Just what what our family needed for a 4 night stay. Plenty of room for our family of 4. Close proximity to where we needed to go and a safe and quiet neighborhood.
The property was as cozy, clean and convenient as advertised. Right near a host of great restaurants in a quiet and safe neighborhood. For anyone who has business at either nearby Luther Seminary or the University of Minnesota the location is "perfect"!

The location and neighborhood are great. The basement apartment was definitely to be desired. Our fridge went out the second day of our 19 day stay. We were able to use the spare one in the storage area but not ideal. The dank smell and cleanliness were definitely not what I would expect for the money spent. I did appreciate the laundry but it too was not clean with things piled everywhere. So many spiderwebs. The staleness of the drawers and cabinets need attention. The hosts were friendly. I did think it was loud. I wish the posted photos represented the actual property I would’ve chosen something different.
I was on a Busines trip over a month and stay at St.Anthony Park Basement 2 Bedroom. The place has everything you need, 5 min walk have a grocery store, post office, restaurants, library, park etc. The apartment is cozy, the host is friendly and has all facilities you need for your stay. Definitely I'll return again and use St.Anthony Park Basement 2 Bedroom for my stay.

Inaccurate Listing and Humid Basement
It is a lovely neighborhood, and a beautiful house. The host was helpful. But the listing said it was a short walk to campus, which is why we booked it, but it turned out to be almost a 2 hour walk. Also, despite the two humidifiers, every morning we woke up sopping wet due to how humid it was.
Positives: host very nice and welcoming, easy check in/out instructions, beds were very comfortable, the apartment had everything you need for your stay, nice quiet safe neighborhood. Negatives: This apartment would not be able to accommodate any one over 6ft tall or with any difficulty walking, probably not good for elderly. The ceilings are low and stairs down to apartment old with very low clearance. The apartment could use some furniture and flooring update.
I still give it a 5star rating as these things were in other reviews so I knew this when I booked it.
I loved the neighborhood as it was filled with beautiful and unique houses and mature trees. It was only a 9 block walk to the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus or a quick entry to the freeway. The house was filled with everything one needs when traveling including a well-stocked kitchen.
The neighborhood is quiet and safe with ample parking. We also enjoyed the Finnish Bistro that is within walking distance. Since the family lives above the basement unit, there can be noises heard above you at night like chairs scraping, people walking and noise from T.V.
The good: The apartment was clean, beds were comfortable and everything was well-stocked. It was really nice to have plenty of towels, toilet paper, essentials in the kitchen. Also the house is located in a nice neighborhood and close to what we needed. The not so good: As a previous review noted, it was not a quiet place to stay. Being aware of it being a basement apartment normal living noise was expected. However, the tenants above were up very late every night and the noise was like furniture was being moved and dragged across the floors, as well as some banging. Then they were also up early and lots of noise ensued, including a keyboard or piano being played. Sleeping was difficult, in particular in the room with the twin beds. Summary: This is a pretty decent place to stay, especially for the cost, and the host was accommodating in letting us check in a little early. But if you’re sensitive to sounds, I would advise staying elsewhere.
Check in was super easy with a code for a lockbox for the key. This basement apartment was well furnished and very clean. It was located in a beautiful neighborhood with lots of trees and flower gardens. I loved the sweet sidewalk path up to Como Ave.
Nice home in quiet neighborhood. A few restaurants within walking distance and a small grocery store nearby. The basement is a basement with not much sunlight, but it has a kitchen and very comfortable bedrooms.
The host was very friendly. I do believe that there were some that the host can do to elevate the guest experience to include:-deep cleaning of the space; the home was clean on surface for sure but cleaning blinds, cleaning the laundry room and entry way would be nice. As an example, it was somewhat difficult to open the entry way door into the home because of piles of shoes and coats. The yard would have been a perfect seating area had the area been cleaned and mowed. Additionally, I saw a spider and at least two bugs (roaches??) which made me extremely uncomfortable.-Be mindful that this is a shared space. At least two nights I was there it sounded like they were moving furniture at 3 o'clock in the morning. Additionally, someone was playing an instrument (piano/keyboard?) one morning around 6am.On a positive note, the home is centrally located with a bus line near by.
For our purposes, the property's location uas excellent with easy access to shopping and area points of interest by road, and a short and pleasant walk to local stores. The property itself is comfortably furnished, large enough to not seem cramped for an extended stay, and priced reasonably.
Kind people, but the basement apartment has low ceilings, we all hit our heads a few times. We could only run one of the two portable air-conditioning units without the landlord having to come and reset the power.
A nice basement apartment in a cute neighborhood. There were plenty of walkable restaurants / shops AND plenty of other neighborhoods were a quick drive or bus ride away. Owners were responsive and polite yet gave us plenty of privacy.
My sister and myself enjoyed our stay for approx 14 days. The property is situated in a beautiful area of Saint Paul and we felt safe. Lovely garden to sit in and enjoy a coffee or meal.
We struggled abit with limited natural light coming in and the low ceiling height, but this was expected with being a basement accommodation.
If you struggle with mobility I would not recommend staying here as the stairs are awkward to walk down to the basement and you need to duck your head down to avoid hitting your head on the above ceiling.
Terrific selection of pots and pans and utensils in the kitchen.
Robert was friendly and very prompt with his online communication with us. On our late night overseas arrival to Minneapolis and then to Robert’s, I was impressed that he stayed up to greet us and assisted us to carry our suitcases downstairs.
Overall it was a comfortable stay and a reasonable price.. Thanks Robert for your hospitality.
It’s not the nicest place in the world but for the price and use we got out of it, it was perfect. My friends and I made good use of the area outside and even though we were in the basement of a multi unit building I felt we had a good amount of privacy. Like I said not very high end but got the job done

Very low ceilings; Claustrophobic, Inadequate
It should be disclosed how low the ceilings are. Are they even up to code? At 5 ft 4” I can touch the ceiling everywhere in this basement unit. The pipes ran even lower giving the feeling of a dark mole hole.
I booked a 2 week stay with my daughter to receive medical therapy so we would be spending nearly all our time inside with her recovering. Right away I talked to the owner about concerns of damp musty smell and dark claustrophobic feeling. My daughter complained her nose hurt there and couldn't breathe as well. Owner said he could not even partially refund our entire 2 weeks unless he could rent it out again. We unfortunately spent Sunday night and an hour on the phone with VRBO explaining that the place did not meet my daughters medical needs and trying to get our reservation canceled so it could be re listed. The beds were uncomfortable with a mattress put on one of the twin beds so it couldn't be used.
After further back and forth with owner it took until Wednesday afternoon for our reservation to be canceled and re-opended. We moved to another rental Monday afternoon. VRBO agreed paying for 2 weeks was unfair but said it was up to owner to refund. He did not rent it out again and is unwilling to refund anything for 1 night of a 2 week period. I do not recommend staying here
