Gorgeous Lake Front Resort Home at Alpine Lake

'The Highlander' was lovingly built by Jeanne Casale Bourn, who decorated it with beautiful quilts and other local treasures. Her touch is still evident – comfortable, modern and absolutely relaxing.

The house looks directly onto the middle of the lake with a view from the beach to the lodge. A wrap around deck (partially enclosed) provides a wonderful view.

The Highlander boasts 11 rooms, 3 bath, 4 bedrooms (sleeps 10: bed - 1 queen; 2 full; 2 twins; and a full futon in the study).

Electric baseboard heat; AC in central living area and master bedroom, and ceiling fans everywhere. Pellet stoves both up and downstairs. Full kitchen with dishwasher and new microwave and new stove; washer & dryer; satellite TV, DVD, DVD collection. No house phone, cell reception is good. Wifi at house. Rental includes use of canoe / toboggan in season.

Easy walking distance (5 minutes) to beach, fishing (the lake is stocked every spring), playground, tennis and basketball courts and horseshoe pit.

Free use of indoor pool and exercise room, and inexpensive outdoor mini golf at lodge.

Full 18 hole golf available right at Alpine.

We were here for a wedding but never thought it would be as heavenly as it was. Woke up every morning at 6am and watch the sunrise which was breath taking. At night sat on the deck with family picking out all the stars we knew and saw many shooting stars. Took walks along the lake and tried a few trails. I could have not picked a nicer place. Nieces (over 35yrs old) were amazed by all the books available to read. I could do this everyday if it was available. Clean and homey and close to so many things to do and other family Thank you Rod for allowing us to stay here

The Alpine Christmas

The property was perfect for our family of 7 and 2 dogs who love the outdoors. Place had everything we needed to cook and bake, even a turkey.and ham. It is very spacious so one can go anywhere in the house. The hiking around the lake, in PA, WV, and MD was very “doable” and plenty of time to be home goat dinner. So glad we chose that house.

I have waited to leave my review, the view was beautiful from the deck. The owner of the property made us aware of an issue with the oven that was discovered prior to our stay & provided an out that we did not take. We should have reviewed our entertainment options better as the listing included an image of a gravity coaster but the closest is 4 hours away. The hiking trails were great, a cute small WW2 museum in town, and the canoeing and kayaking was the highlight for us! We were greeted with LARGE bag of trash that was left behind in the gazebo area of the deck, which I took care of immediately and we washed the "drippings" off the deck, and shower heads that had mold-like (black gooey stuff) that I cleaned out before we did anything else so that was manageable. The only really sad/troubling downside is that 2 of my children suffer from migraines and the downstairs used plugin air fresheners to cover-up a strong smell of pet urine. We removed the air fresheners and kept the downstairs windows open the whole time we were there so that my kids didn't need to suffer when we were at the house but as you can imagine it was FREEZING. We also could not use the bed room that had 2 twin beds due to the fact it was the worst smelling room in regards to pet urine. We even blocked the door with a comforter from one of the twin beds to keep it trapped in there. I hate to be negative, especially since this is my first experience using VRBO but I hear my issues are hit & miss normal

Relaxing Labor Day weekend

7 of us women came together in this beautiful home. We certainly enjoyed the large deck overlooking the lake. Most of our time was spent there, sipping adult beverages and just being together.

Great Family Vaca

We rented this property for a family weekend. It was an amazing location directly on the lake. The space was fabulous. The bedrooms were spacious and with two separate living areas different age groups can spread out. Just awesome!!!!

Get away weekend

Overall this place was spectacular. The only drawback we had was we did have to wash the blankets. Other than that we enjoyed the location layout of the house everything was perfect we will be coming back.

Great place to relax

My kids and grandkids join my husband and I at this beautiful house. We enjoyed the stay. The first days was rain but we just enjoyed sitting on the porch. We also went to the pool and the kids enjoyed their swim. The next day the weather was beautiful. We made a trip to the beach and then a game of putt putt. Just a lovely place to be.

Lakeside retreat

Our recent stay at this lovely lakeside house was a delight! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking view of the lake that greeted us. It was a perfect picture of tranquility. The house itself was charming. The interior decor had a touch of rustic elegance, which created a cozy and welcoming ambiance. But what truly stole our hearts was an easy access to the lake beach. We will be back soon.

Delightful lakeside home

We drove in during a snow storm but awoke to clear skies and a stunning view. The home was large, clean, and cozy, comfortably housing a handful of friends and a snow-loving dog. We fired up the pellet stoves, hiked around the lake, played in the snow, and used the well-stocked kitchen to enjoy big family-style meals. It was the perfect escape from the city (just 3hrs from DC) and we will happily be back! I did have a few questions in advance, and the owner was always very responsive, friendly, and helpful!
