The Artist's Den, a perfect hide-away in the countryside and by the sea
Charming appartement for two, situated in the centre of the village of Wimille close to the « côte d’opale » and the seaside resort of Wimereux and the historic town of Boulogne-sur-mer.
The appartement forms an independant part of a house dating from 1850. The house stands in an acre of garden which go down to the river Wimereux.
There is free on street parking in front of the house. The village has a grocers shop, a bar and a restaurant. An attractive foot and cycle path is a good way to reach the beach at Wimereux.
We are happy to meet our guests at Wimille/Wimereux station, by request.
The appartement is 50m2, with direct access to a private sunny courtyard garden.
On the ground floor is comfortable living room with fully equiped kitchen area (cooker, microwave, fridge, and washing machine) and wood burning stove.
The first floor has bedroom with a double bed 140cm x 190cm, and bathroom with a walk in shower. Bed linen and towels are provided.
A cot and high chair are available if required.
The garden : Our guests are invited to explore the large garden behind the house and to sit in the sun. The garden, which is cultivated without pesticides, and a wild wood which leads down to the river are shared with the owners. You will often find us at work in the garden. You are invited to feed the hens with left over food and to add your vegetable peelings to the compost heap.
English and French are spoken
Services included : bed linen and towels, electricity, central heating, and wood for the stove.
We ask you to help to keep everyone safe by cleaning the flat at the end of your holiday.

We are enthusiastic gardeners and have lots of experience of building projects. After many years of searching all over France, we found our house in Wimille ten years ago. The house was very run down and the garden had been abandonned for many years. We began the renovation in 2016 and the transformation of the old kitchen and attic into an attractive holiday apartment is our most recent achievement.

La maison était en très mauvais état, mais le grand jardin à l’abandon depuis des années à nous séduit. Nous avons commencé la rénovation en 2006, et petit à petit les projets s’achèvent. La transformation de l’ancienne cuisine et du grenier en joli appartement très « cosy » est notre dernière réalisation.

Wimille is an attractive village, close to the coast, but sheltered from the wind. Here you have the advantage of being in the countryside, but also close to the town. People say that the front of our house is in a village and the back is in the country !
You can take a green path from the village and walk or cycle beside the river to reach the beach at Wimereux. Two bikes are available for our guests to use.

For people who love wild gardens and nature. The garden is shared between people and wildlife, we cultivate vegetables without the use of pesticide. The river Wimereux is at the bottom of the garden.
