Scenic Cabin Overlooking Trout Run

The Root River Biking Trailheads are located only 7 miles away at Lanesboro, or only 5 miles away at Fountain.
Our wonderful rustic Cabin, is right next to Trout Run, a fabulous Brown Trout fishery, with lots of public access.
This large open room layout, will accommodate your family for fishing, biking, hiking, and canoeing adventures. A large deck, makes it easy to have campfires, and enjoy the romantic sunsets. Extra tables are provided for getaway scrapbooking weekends. There is a full kitchen to create family meals and memories. This is a comfortable and cozy cabin, with many modern conveniences.
Last week the Owls were calling just after dark, and the Coyote's started singing around midnight.

Nice get away

The cabin it self is decorated super cool. The cabin is rustic nice to get off the grid our phones didn't even work there so super peaceful good for the soul. Now if I could have just got the fish to bite. It list's a TV which missing but that just made it that much more peaceful so not dinging the owner just letting them know and the cabin needs a can opener we couldn't find one so again just letting the Werner know could be added. Overall that was a very relaxing peaceful 3 night stay. The cabin is a great get away

Depends on what you want

The location was (for 2 fly fishermen) superb. The actual facility was so-so—at a premium price. It was fairly clean, and the ac worked, but there are a lot if things that could/should be fixed: a horde of ants in the kitchen, window cranks that wouldn’t open the windows, leaky kitchen sink, marginal shower, screen on the sliding door torn……not big on the animal heads, wolf pelt, but that’s just me. Fishing was good; view from the livingroom is lovely, but if our wives had been with us, they would have run to the nearest motel.

One of our faves!

We love this cabin so much! It’s one of our favorite places to go and we visit at least 2x per year now. It’s rustic, private, you can see the trout stream from the cabin, and watch cows roam the pasture. 10 outta 10!

Mice! Had to keep non refrigerated in coolers to protect it from them..Have pictures for proof...T.V was up on a shelf, non functional...View great, bed and linen clean..

Relaxing retreat

This was our third time staying at this scenic cabin. Nothing changed which is what we hoped for . The location was perfect for biking and fishing. The cabin was comfortable sleeping and quiet. We will definitely be back again.

Weekend getaway.

If you are looking for a scenic, no frills, simple lodging this is a great choice. Little to no cell phone connection. No TV and other outside world interruptions. Just the scenic beauty, a local heard of cattle grazing, fly fisherman testing their skills against the trout and a camp fire to relax with.

Absolutely relaxing, scenic, and would love to come back.

We had the most peaceful week at your beautiful cabin! Only one thing I am so upset about, is that we inadvertently left my wooden cane behind. My husband had this cane made just for me. I am so, so sad about this and am wondering how could I get this shipped back to me, on our dime? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am handicapped and so sad about this. It was accidentally left behind the door.

Quiet, rustic cabin

My husband and I enjoyed the cabin, especially the large front window, the view of the trees, pasture, cows, and creek. The bed was very comfortable. The pull out was not. My husband loved the animal heads hanging on the wall (i thought they were creepy). We both liked the old antique tin signs decorating the walls and ceiling. The bathroom smells, and the water heater seems to be working hard for not a lot of hot water at once for showers. It was a nice location for exploring lanesboro, harmony, and preston. We hope to go biking along on the root River trail, as well as doing some canoeing next time. We would definitely rent this cabin again. It's weird, a little dirty, but still pretty cool and different than a regular hotel.

A get away

Excellent location for trout fishing. Quaint and rustic get away, just the way we like it. There was a musky oder but view over came it when we sat and dreamed. We will do it again in the future.

Another Memorable Stay at Bucksnort!

This was our fourth or fifth stay. We absolutely love this place!! The cows came up to the fence on our last morning and we’ve never seen them that close. Heard coyotes one night while sitting out at the fire. Star gazing was top notch!! We love playing music and games in the cabin, going into Lanesboro for dining and shopping, watching and listening to the wildlife. It’s just so serene here. Will definitely be back!
