What a challenge this has been! I spent many years researching and sourcing traditional and environmentally-friendly methods and materials to restore our dilapidated 18th listed stable block which we purchased along with the adjoining Manor House in 1993. And finally(!) in 2008 we opened our doors to our first guests and there's been no looking back! Courses started in 2009 but unfortunately finished at the beginning of Covid in 2020. I love gardening and have beautiful raised beds full of all sorts of colourful vegetables and flowers. We have apple, pear and plum trees, a lovely wisteria arbour, a living willow screen and a half-finished wildlife pond!
Why they chose this property
When we came to have a look at the Manor House Stables in 1993 it was in a terrible state, and the stables were even worse. I felt sorry for it and wanted to restore it and keep it alive for future generations. I saw great potential in the stables and always knew I was going to run a business from it. The house was built in 1791 and is full of historical interest. The stables were built shortly after this and were used for the horses, coach and stable boys. Researching the history of the house and stables has been amazing and unexpected findings have resulted - for example, the house was a Land Army Hostel in the 2nd World War.
What makes this property unique
Full of history, plenty of space, large gardens, open aspect across fields, beautiful night skies, peaceful, safe.
