Great Beach Family Gathering

Loved the square footage, open floor plan, number of beds/baths and plenty of room for 2 young grandchildren to play. The yard and outdoor space provided beautiful views and again great space for young children to play.

It’s been over 36 years since I’ve been to Jekyll Island. I did not realize what a mid century modern dream the whole island was! Our house was perfect for our family. Everyone had room to spread out. Loved being able to see the ocean from almost every window. The house has everything one might need. We had crummy weather for a day and spent time exploring the island and doing puzzles at the house. The beach access was one house over. When the tide is up there is no beach access, but when it was out we enjoyed exploring all the tide pools and rocks for shells and creatures. Close to everything.

Reviewer Comments: Our daughter was married in Faith Chapel with the reception at the convention center right on the last day of tropical storm/hurricane Debby. We managed to stay dry and keep the family together in this lovely home. The bedrooms were large and had plenty of room for parents, grandparents, and siblings of the bride. The wedding day was the only sunny day with no rain! It was a great location to relax and enjoy last minute wedding prep and before wedding photos of the dress, etc. with ample room for everyone to spread out in the house. The only thing better would be if the boardwalk to the beach was actually accessible to the sand instead of the water at low tide. We would definitely stay here again!

My late husband and I started bringing our young family in the early 90's. I continue to visit with children and grandchildren. It is our very special place to gather. We have many great memories from the past and so enjoy making new memories together. Roanoke was the perfect house for our growing family. I would definitely rent again. The location is ideal. Sunrises, close to my favorite marsh bike ride, great layout for everyone. Some of the decor (paint, furniture) a little "tired" but OK. Had a roof leak after heavy rain. But fortunately we only had one rainy day during our two weeks! We travel by car so really enjoyed bikes and chairs being delivered and picked up!JI has a very special place in our hearts. We will always return! Already looking forward to next year!

June 2021 Stay

Thanks again for another wonderful stay at Roanoke! The reflectors on the steps leading to the deck was very helpful! We could not get the ceiling fan to work in the master bedroom near the water. Also, the dryer was not working when we arrived, but a repair man showed up Tuesday to repair it. We had an awesome week & made wonderful memories with our family & first grandchild.Thanks again.

Lovely place, so open and airy! Loved the upper deck and the swing in the tree. Just a couple things we noticed-all tile, terrazzo floors were VERY sticky to walk on. Not sure if a cleanliness issue or that cleaning products weren’t rinsed properly. Was a bit disconcerting. Also, totally understand and accept about bringing our own linens and towels, but to not offer any kitchen towels for hand washed dishes nor bath mats for in the bathrooms; this we really didn’t understand. Still a lovely week at Roanoke, would recommend to others.

I, along with my whole rental party have never heard of having to bring your own sheets to a rental house. Having stayed at numerous houses through rental companies, we all found this very unprofessional on the rental companies part.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we had a nice experience. Unfortunately, we lost 3 nights due to a required evacuation. We didn't get a refund but we understand that. The Jekyll Realty did offer us to add 3 days for free but our schedules would not allow that. Perhaps they will offer that for a future stay. The one general problem we encountered was the lack of communication from Jekyll Realty. First, a phone call before our arrival would have helped that explained what normally happens in a hurricane. Second, the fact that Jekyll Realty is not open on Sunday and our rental started on Sunday is really a problem. I don't understand why a real estate agency would be closed on Sunday, especially one that caters to vacation renters. We have always had a nice experience with Jekyll Realty and I'm only letting them know my opinion because I was prompted by this survey. It actually would have been more pleasant if someone from Jekyll Realty personally called me and asked how my stay was. I don't understand why companies think an emailed survey is better than a personal phone call. Thank you and sorry to be so candid but you did ask my opinion.

Roanoke is in a great location looking out over the ocean. We loved going up to the upper deck and watching the sunrise or taking in the stars at night. What a lovely place to stay.
