a week in Marseille

The apartment was ideally situated to access all the sights of Marseille. There is no need for a car as the efficient public transport system is easily accessible. Marie-france is a charming hostess a made us very welcome.

Classic charm flat in Marseille

Marie-France was greeting me at her apartment when I arrived. She explained to me how to use appliances etc. Her flat was exactly same as the pictures and much bigger than I expected. High ceilings, chandeliers, tile floor in the kitchen, everything was charming yet functional. The location was perfect. Many grocery stores, bakerys, restaurants and public transportation was close by. Marie-France came to see me the day before my leaving and made a taxi reservation for me because of my crappy French. Thank you Marie-France, the taxi came on time and I had plenty of time to get on the train!

Charm, but noisy

The apartment is quite spacious and has style and some charm. But the neighbours above were noisy day and night. Hard to get a good night's sleep, even with ear plugs. And the bed is just a double - small for 2 adults. The area is a bit down market, especially at night.

J'ai pris bonne note de cette appréciation, qui m'a, je l'avoue, un peu surprise : en effet, je loue cet appartement depuis des années, et personne ne m'a jamais fait ce retour ! Je n'ai jamais eu que de très bons retours... Le lit de la chambre (22 m2) est en 140, comme la plupart des lits doubles, et par ailleurs, la literie est toute neuve, car je viens de la changer : je n'ai pas bien compris pourquoi 6 draps étaient sortis, pour une occupation d'un couple pour quelques jours. Il est vrai que l'on entend parfois marcher les voisins, mais nous sommes en immeuble, et en ville. Enfin, je vis dans cet environnement extérieur depuis une dizaine d'années, et je trouve ce quartier vivant et agréable à vivre. Sans doute n'avons-nous pas le même regard sur la ville de Marseille. J'en suis désolée, mais je ne vois pas ce que je peux améliorer, qui dépendrait de moi. Peut-être faudrait-il que ces locataires aillent plutôt dans un hôtel luxueux ?

Home away from home

I very much enjoyed staying at Mme Frey's apartment. She is a very gracious host and I felt like I had a home in Marseille. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bathroom large and well laid out and the bedroom is oriented away from the busy street. The location near Castellane is perfect with a bakery and a Monoprix nearby. I will be back!

Charming and well-located apartment in Castellane neighborhood

Marie-France was a wonderful and thoughtful host. She responded very quickly to our emails and provided helpful advice in advance regarding where to park our rental car for the week. She met us at the apartment and explained clearly (in very good English) how everything worked and also gave us many ideas for things to do. She had very kindly provided us with food for breakfast so we didn't have to run out and shop right away. The apartment is a comfortable walk-up but there is a small elevator available as well. The apartment (which is immaculately clean) is lovely -- tranquil with high ceilings, many tall windows and well-appointed with a pretty sitting and dining area, a very spacious bathroom (with an immense shower), comfortable bedroom and a fully functional kitchen. We cooked several meals there and found everything we needed. We also enjoyed Marie-France's excellent music collection while we drank our evening cocktails! The location is ideal -- there is a good bakery on the ground floor that provides a tantalizing smell up the stairwell when you leave the apartment. There are several grocery stores within a few minutes of the apartment. A (very quiet) tram line runs along the street and there is a metro stop nearby as well as several bus lines. It is a short walk to the Old Port and to many other tourist sites -- almost impossible to get lost. In short, we were completely happy with this apartment and hope very much to return again.

Wir hatten sehr schöne Zeit in Marseille verbracht. Die Wohnung ist hell, groß, gut gelegen, sehr gut ausgestattet und sauber. Die Eigentümerin Marie haben wir nicht persönlich kennen gelernt, aber Sie hatte für uns sehr viel vororganisiert, viele verschiedene Empfehlungen weitergegeben und war in Mail Kontakt immer freundlich, hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Wir werden mit großer Freude diesen Aufenthalt weiter empfehlen. Vielen Dank!

Nous y avions séjourné il y a trois ans , nous y sommes revenus, et il nous tarde d'y retourner… Que dire d'autre si non que nous avons de nouveau apprécié l'accueil sympathique de la propriétaire, de même que l'appartement lui même, toujours spacieux et lumineux, ainsi que la confortable literie etc. Sans oublier l’ascenseur qui , malgré son étroitesse, est toujours très utile lorsque l'on revient d'une longue promenade. Les plus cette année : La salle de bain qui a été refaite et bénéficie d'une douche immense et bien conçue, le lave vaisselle et la machine à café expresso ...« what else » ! La ligne de Tram ; avec son arrêt à 2mn à pieds de l'appartement qui nous emmène en un clin d’œil jusqu'au vieux port … Un seul bémol : Une semaine c'est trop court

Lovely and spacious apartment

We spent a week in this apartment and had an excellent experience. The apartment is clean and spacious and superbly located near Place Castellane, a transportation hub with Metro, Tram and buses. There are also plenty of stores, restaurants and a lovely outdoor market every day. The apartment was also quiet and well-appointed. Confort et charme

Appartement véritablement idéal grâce à son emplacement hypercentral et accès au métro, tramway, bus. Et idéal aussi tant cet appartement, typiquement marseillais par sa luminosité, hauteur sous plafond exceptionnelle, décoration très agréable, confort maximum et propriétaire sympathique et arrangeante ! A pied d'œuvre pour profiter des nombreux restaurants aux alentours, le cinéma Art et Essai à 50 m.

"Wir waren mit der Ausstattung der Wohnung und der Lage sehr zufrieden. Etwas problematisch ist die Benutzung des Aufzuges zur Wohnung im vierten Stock, der Platzangst verursacht, weil er viel zu eng und zu klein ist. Besonders zu loben ist die Vermieterin, die ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit und dazu noch mit guten Deutschkenntnissen gesegnet ist. Alles in allem: Sehr zu empfehlen."

tout d'abord un grand merci à la propriétaire qui nous a trés bien acceuilli et nous a bien informé sur le quartier et sur les choses à faire à Marseille, de plus il y a dans l'appartement la documentation nécessaire. L'appartement est trés bien situé et superbement bien entretenu, il y a tout ce dont nous avons besoin comme à la maison, il est agréable, c'est vrai qu'il n'est pas équipé de climatiseur, mais trés franchement on en n'a pas ressenti le besoin. Pour faire bref,j'ai eu un réel coup de coeur pour cet appartement et sa propiriétaire! d'ailleurs je compte bien le relouer pour mon prochain séjour à Marseille...

"Avant tout, ce qui est appréciable, c''est l''accueil sympathique que nous a réservé la propriétaire. Concernant l''appartement celui-ci est spacieux, lumineux et ensoleillé. On y est au calme malgré la rue fréquentée et les gros travaux actuels. La literie est confortable. L''ascenseur malgré son étroitesse est très utile pour grimper les 4 étages. La proximité des commerces alimentaires, du métro et des lieux touristiques ajoutent un plus au séjour. Nous y séjournerions volontiers une prochaine fois ..."
