Another great visit and stay at the cabin on the river. This was our third time in as many years to enjoy the foliage change while enjoying wonderful accommodations. Look forward to our stay next year.
Property is in a beautiful location and gorgeous setting. Weather was great for the week we were there. The craftmanship of the cabin is unbelievably good. Attention has been given to nearly every detail. Spent the week there with my wife and all of my grandkids (oh, and my son & his wife). We had a great time at the cabin and surrounding area & attractions.
We absolutely loved this cabin! We stayed for 2.5 weeks. The property is well kept with areas mowed so you can wander around. The cabin is well equipped with everything you could need. The location right on the river is awesome! We left the windows cracked at night so we could hear the sound of the river. It feels like you are very remote, but you are only 10 minutes from a grocery store, a couple of restaurants, and the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad, which is a lot of fun. We will definitely be back!!!
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Joe and Kass’s cabin. We are VRBO Premier Hosts and can truthfully say that their cabin was as advertised, very clean and neat, and comfy. Being right on the river was an added bonus. We would highly recommend them to anyone!
We had a mini family reunion, the cabin was exactly what we were looking for, and it was in a perfect location. Very pleased how much we enjoyed our visit!
Our stay on the Conejos River was beautiful! The privacy, gorgeous log cabin and wonderful setting on the river was perfect. The fall leaves were just great and everything about the cabin was perfect.
This was our second time staying at the property and it was just as great as before! Clean, private, everything we needed for a great fall getaway. Property owners are very nice and helpful, we'll be back! Love the fact that no neighbors are near and the river is right in front of the cabin.
Beautiful, hand-built with love, cabin on the gorgeous Conejos River. The cabin and property has everything you need to have the best time ever. Whether you go on daily adventures or just stay here, you will enjoy every minute, not want to leave, and be ready to book your next stay.
We have stayed at the Conejos cabin many times. This visit was excellent as usual. Cabin very comfortable and quite clean. We volunteered for the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad during the week and spent relaxing evenings sitting by the Conejos River.
Being 66 years old I almost found the cabin more inviting than the elk hunt at Osier Mountain. I have hunted the area for 35 years. Best accommodations I have had hunting. Great place to stay for the train ride.

Thanks, Len! Glad you all enjoyed your stay - hopefully you come back again!
Joe and Kass thank you so much for a great stay! We had a family gathering while here and spent very afternoon and evening entertaining family, cooking both in the kitchen and outside, and visiting.
Great location and set up for anyone who wants to enjoy themselves and relax!
Great job Joe Kass.
When we arrived the house had no power due to an unusual May snow storm. We communicated with Joe who was great - and we bailed and drove 40 miles to stay in a motel that first night. Power was restored and the rest of the trip went smoothly. Would be 5 star, but some plumbing fixtures could stand to be updated. Wood stove was awesome and there was ample dry wood. It just takes a while to learn how to regulate temp properly.
The cabin had everything we needed and more. The location near the river made our late afternoons sitting on the nice porch very relaxing. There are lots of trees on the property that kept the property cool. This is the first time my wife has stayed on a Vrbo property and she had reservations, but she was extremely happy. We highly recommend this cabin and will plan another trip here.

Cabin getaway
We were looking for a cabin to share Christmas with our combined family and WOW, was this perfect. It was rustic but cozy and exactly what we were looking for. We loved that there was no TV, just views and space to hang out. The owners were helpful and answered questions the day of our check-in. It was an amazing place and we hope to stay there again. My only suggestion is to bring all of your basic food items (limited resources in town if you forget things) and bring ear plugs if you are sleeping upstairs with snoring family members...

Beautiful property, clean and organized. We chose it because of its river front
We are fishermen but found out late that guests are not allowed to fish there. So extremely disappointing. Pay close attention to what you rent.

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Manager
Kass and I are avid outdoor enthusiasts. We love spending as much time as possible at our cabin, and enjoy every moment. When not at our home or our cabin, you can find us fishing, hiking, camping, rafting across Colorado and other western states.
Why they chose this property
Mogote is a true jumping spot to all that Southern Colorado has to offer. It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle, that it begs for folks to come and relax.
With ample activities close by throughout the year, there is always something to do. During the warm months, the cabin is a great spot to enjoy the plentiful sunshine while: -Fishing on miles and miles of both public and private water -Hiking/Backpacking on endless trails to remote areas of the South San Juan Wilderness -Hunting (Located in Colorado GMU 81, and 10 minutes from New Mexico unit 52) -Four Wheeling
During the winter, there is no better place to stay in order to be close to: -Snowmobiling (Cumbres Pass is ~30 minutes away and Chama, New Mexico is about 45 minutes) -Cross County Skiing -Snow Shoeing
What makes this property unique
The Conejos River offers miles and miles of public water from the cabin up toward Platoro Reservoir. There are also numerous private water locations which offer unique chances to catch some of the largest rainbow and brown trout in the state. Fly fishing is available at the cabin, but requires paying a rod fee and hiring a guide. Please let us know if you intend to fish at the property, so we can ensure availability and booking of your guide.
There are also countless hunting opportunities nearby. Being only 10 minutes from the New Mexico border, this cabin offers a great location for both Colorado and New Mexico hunters.
Other outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy beautiful cycling, hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and more.
