Hidden Gem

A well-appointed and immaculate home tucked away from the street right on the banks of the Pecos River-- the host has done a great job of providing everything you need. A great place to stay for those who wish to visit Santa Fe but also enjoy being out of the hustle and bustle and having access to the outdoors.

Wonderful place on the Pecos River!

We loved this place so much! The house is beautiful inside, very nicely decorated and cozy with incredible views. And very clean! Sitting in the sunroom for early morning coffee or on the deck by the river is such a joy! The river flowing through the canyon is so awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’ll be back!

Exquisitely clean and charming cottage sloping down to the river. Owner very responsive. Best food in village is at the two gas stations! Do not miss the carne adovada in both

A good base

We often stay further downstream so it was good to have a different base with some other places to visit nearby (documented in the reviews) including the not so near Villanueva State Park. Also of note, the Santa Fe Fly Fishing School is at the end of the camino that we discovered by accident.

Love it, hoping to go back in 2021

This place is just beautiful, from the house to the river at the bottom of the hill. We were able to really relax, and spend quality time with one another. And when we had questions Tom quickly assisted. We highly recommend for a stay in NM away from all the hussle and brussel. Thanks Tom, we plan to return!

Beautiful and peaceful

We have been to this area of NM quite a few times but never have stayed in Pecos. It was a pleasure to stay in this lovely Adobe home. It could be featured in a magazine! We enjoyed the sun room and being so close to the river. Santa Fe is only about 30 minutes away. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this property again.

A marvelous get away

We were two couples visiting the Santa Fe area and enjoyed the solitude of the location. The decoration, setup and available home equipment were excellent. Sitting down at the riverside deck, enjoying the natural surroundings, transported us miles away in body and mind. With the property well kept up and the house very clean, it was fully rounded vacation spot. Looking forward to our return in the future.

Peaceful on the Pecos

This is a lovely, well furnished, home that is very clean. There is a deck located on the Pecos River just a couple of hundred feet down a hill from the house. Sitting on the deck feels like you have traveled to a remote mountain stream setting even though the house is located on the edge of Pecos in a residential neighborhood. This is a great location to explore the area from Las Vegas to Santa Fe and the upper Pecos. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful home near pristine trout stream.

The home is fantastic! We were very comfortable and relaxed thoroughly during our visit. We enjoyed our breakfasts & dinners on the deck overlooking the Pecos River. The location is perfect for trout fishing with the river on the property and about 20 miles of top notch trout fishing directly upstream from the property with easy access. In addition, Santa Fe is a quick 15-20 min drive for day excursions. My girlfriend and I plan on returning next summer!

Pecos riverside

This is an outstanding property. Very sturdy structure, missing nothing, new appliances, great riverside deck. Outstanding sunroom. A steep driveway challenged our rental car, but heck, it was a rental. Interesting history with the property, and it was fun to imagine how it might have played a role back in the day. Plenty of outlets, good RO water. No complaints.

About the host

Host profile image
I have been involved in real estate all of my life and enjoy it immensely when I find a property that is just too good to pass up. This is that property

Why they chose this property

The Spanish Conquistadors came to this area in 1680. This property and that of the whole valley where the land is situated was 'Land Granted' to one Conquistador; the direct descendant of the lady who designed and built this house, Evelyn Espinoza Varela. The land was given to Evelyn by her Grandfather a decedent of the Conquistadors who came here in 1680. Evelyn spent many weeks coming to her land, contemplating the design, making sure it correctly represented her roots. Finally in 2001 she set forth to build her dream house, an authentic Southwestern design. Evelyn, accomplished her goal and then some.
That is one of the reasons why we like this southwestern abode, you can feel the presence.
Yet, it is modern, another plus for those of us who have been spoiled with all the conveniences.

What makes this property unique

1. Fantastic location right on the Pecos River
2. In this Sangria De Christie Mountain but with all the amenities
3. Close to the historic city of Santa Fe; 20-25 minutes
4. Cultural activities abound
5. I feel more a tuned to nature out here. The pure blue sky with the puffy clouds, the Pecos River with the sound of the water rushing over the rocks; how peaceful that sound is.
6. The people living n this village are peaceful fun loving individuals that have a respect for the wonderful nature around them.
7. Driving up highway 63 to the end of the road leads you past magnificent camp grounds that offer horse back riding in over 200,000 acres, hiking trails of all levels, fishing, hunting, trapping, etc,
8. Skiing of all types is just a short distance away.
9. I could go on but suffice it to say that there is something for everyone in this glorious country
