About this property

Santa Fe Getaway, Private Suite Under Glorieta Mesa

Looking to enjoy the bustle of Santa Fe AND the pristine natural beauty NM is famous for? Glorieta offers the perfect solution. Conveniently located 20-minutes east of Santa Fe along the I-25 and 15 min west of Pecos, our private suite is ideal for seeing ALL the sights
Charming rooms with private big porch. 1 bedroom with a queen bed, open concept bedroom has a double bed. The sunroom has two twin size beds. The main room has a double futon sofa. Included a full kitchen and 1 bathroom with shower.
The main room and the sunroom provide lots of light, while keeping you still cool during summer nights. The rest of the suite offers lots of shade as well.
Books about New Mexico, maps, etc are available as are binoculars for bird watching. Books to read, family games, chess and a deck of cards also available for your enjoyment.
Although we do not offer TV there is free unlimited WiFi provided by Verizon hot spot. We also offer DVD player and a nice selection of DVD's for all ages.
You are only a beautiful 20 min drive to Downtown Santa Fe and its major attractions and 15 min drive to the lovely village of Pecos, entryway to Pecos High Country with many hiking trails and Pecos National Monument.
Pecos River offers excellent fly fishing and nearby Glorieta and Rowe Mesas provide great terrain for mountain biking.
The guest suite is separated from the main house by two large barn doors.
There is a separate entry and lots of parking adjacent to our parking spaces.
We encourage you to enjoy our koi ponds and surrounding gardens, watch humming birds all day long and Mexican bats sweeping the ponds in the evenings.
We live on the property and, when at home, we will be more than happy to answer any questions. We will absolutely respect your privacy.

PET POLICY: There is a one time per stay $50 pet fee for up to 2 pets. If you plan to bring more that 2, please let me know and expect an additional small charge of $25 per stay per additional pet over 2.
We love pets and all well behaved ones are welcome. However, we are not a dog cannel and we asked our guests : please, do not leave your pets unattended outside nor inside the suite for long periods of times. We welcome pets, because we believe you want to spend quality time with them (or you would have not brought them and kenneled them back home or left them with a friend or pet sitter.

Both Pete and I are avid hikers and backpackers and skiers and snowshoers in the winter. We have a broad knowledge about Santa Fe and surrounding areas and we will gladly share it with you if you wish.
Having your own vehicle is the best option since there is no public transportation from Glorieta to Santa Fe. During winter, we recommend that you have an all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle.
There are no restaurants and no grocery store in Glorieta. The best place to eat out or buy groceries would be Santa Fe, just 20 min drive.
But we will always have coffee and cream and assortment of teas for you in the kitchen.
This is a quiet, rural area and on occasion wildlife can be seen or heard.
Another thing to be mentioned is that the listed basic price is for up to 2 guests spending the night. There is a small additional fee of $20 per person per night. Note while booking.
We provide unlimited Verizon Hot Spot internet. If you are a professional working remotely, please contact us directly the we could provide you with the info about the speed of available internet that you could determine if that would work for you.
Thank you so much for reading.

My family and I had a very relaxed stay with Pete and Ewa. Pete gave a detailed tour of the suite and grounds and both of them were available if we needed anything. The front porch was wonderful and we spent much of our time there. Close enough to Sante Fe to enjoy the city, but surrounded by the Pecos National Forest. Loved it!

Getaway in Glorieta

My son and I enjoyed our stay at Ewa and Pete's vacation home. The house was clean and nicely appointed. The owners are friendly, helpful and generous. We mainly stayed there during the nights, and we were happy that the beds were comfortable. I would stay there again.

Glorious in Glorieta

Really enjoyed taking a two week break from the Texas heat in the mountains of New Mexico. Glorieta is perfectly situated between Santa Fe and Pecos. Our hosts were welcoming and provided an excellent orientation. The kitchen is well equipped. Bedrooms and bathroom are clean and charming. The provided fans were enough for us Texans to handle the afternoon heat. Mornings were cool but comfortable. Hope to make it back.

Great long weekend

Great cozy full suite away from the city. Ewa and Pete were great hosts, gave us our space and our dog enjoyed playing with their dog, Tia. WIFI was a little challenging but with their hotspot and ours we made it work. The surrounding environment was worth not being connected as we all are. We learned a lot about Glorieta Pass' history and being New Mexicans, we never knew. Would love to book this place again and probably will.

Wonderful hosts, quiet retreat

Eva and Pete are wonderful, generous hosts. Not only helpful and kind, but also so interesting to talk with. We loved sitting on the porch, watching the hummingbird skirmishes and all the birds at the feeder. Not only did we have the cottage, we had a cozy back yard patio area and access to the Koi ponds in back of their house. My personal favorite time was drinking coffee in the morning by the ponds, and by special dispensation, being allowed to feed the Koi. 😊 We really loved our time here. Did not want to leave.

Quaint and quiet

This was my second stay here and it was just as lovely as the first. It's out of the way on a no outlet street so you're not listening to constant car traffic, the stars look amazing at night! Just across the highway, at the right time of year, you'll find people selling honey, jerky, beans, etc. Pete and Ewa are welcoming and helpful, offering any small wares one might need while out of town. They also have a fully fenced in yard and are pet friendly, my dog has been with us both times and he finds the place comfortable as well. It's a little out of the way, so make sure you're factoring in drive time, but totally worth it for the peace and quiet!!

Beautiful property and great for pets!

The property is absolutely beautiful, it was just my wife and I, but it certainly could accommodate a larger group. Our dogs loved having their own fenced in yard and we enjoyed all the amenities offered, really a unique place. The property owners are extremely friendly/ helpful. They do like to do an in person walk through/ tour which was helpful but unexpected. As much as we appreciated the information, we would have been grateful for a heads up that this was apart of the checking in process. After a nearly five hour drive, we were not expecting a knock on the door within moments of arrival. Again, the owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, we were just surprised by the in person walk through since the directions online only mentioned the self-check in process. Wonderful views and a wonderful time!

Loved our stay in Glorieta!

Pete and Ewa were wonderful hosts. We we looking for a much needed relaxing vacation, and this was it. While we enjoyed the sites and hiking in the nearby area, we also enjoyed just hanging out at the cabin. It had everything we needed. And for a nice surprise, we woke up to snow one morning! It was beautiful. We don’t get to see that very often in the Dallas area. We also enjoyed hot chocolate and bird watching from the front porch. Ewa provided us with photos and names of the birds and it was fun identifying all of them. If you enjoy hiking, be sure to go to Tent Rocks. You won’t be disappointed, it’s a beautiful view from the top. And of course Santa Fe is great for shopping, dining, and historical sites. The churches are beautiful. We also drove the Turquoise Trail (scenic byway). The drive is beautiful, not to mention the quaint little towns to stop in along the way. Pete and Ewa know the area well and are avid hikers, so they are a great source of information on where to go and what to see. Oh, and before I forget.....they have an awesome jigsaw puzzle. Super hard, good luck!! We had a great vacation and would love to come back and stay at the cabin again. Thank you Pete and Ewa for a great getaway!! Becky and Glen 😊

This was the perfect place for us to stay while visiting friends in Santa Fe. It’s in the mountains and away from the desert and city. It was dark and peaceful. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch and bird watching. We kept the screened windows open and enjoyed the cool breeze at night. It’s a quirky place but suited us fine. We would definitely stay again if we travel back to Santa Fe. There was slight traffic noise from the interstate but nothing excessive.

A great place to stay. Everything was so perfect for us. A great outdoor deck with a fenced yard for our corgi. Quaint decor that we loved. Wonderful owners. Ewa and Pete were so gracious and helpful, not to mention their sweet gentle giant, Tia. I would highly recommend if you want to be isolated with easy access to Santa Fe. Hello,
I met my husband Pete while traveling, on a beach in Mexico 32 years ago. Today we still travel together and love to share our experience with others.
Pete is a "native" New Mexican and I am from Poland. We both still speak pretty good Spanish, Pete can still get things done in German.
I love taking care of the house and the garden.
We are both avid hikers and skiers and love to be outdoors, rain or shine. I practice yoga by the ponds and you are more than welcome to join me.
4 years ago Pete has remodeled part of our spacious home and converted it into a charming guest suite. If you love quiet, Ponderosa pines and nature, you will love our simple and relaxing place.

Why they chose this property

Both my husband Pete and I love the peace of rural life, but we still wanted to have an easy access to town.
Glorieta is so beautiful and easy. It takes me just 20 min to get to work Downtown Santa Fe and just 15 minutes to get to one of my favorite places like Pecos National Historical Park.

What makes this property unique

Our property is a beautiful 20 min drive to Downtown Santa Fe and its major attractions and 15 min drive to the lovely village of Pecos, entryway to Pecos High Country with many hiking trails and Pecos National Monument.
Pecos River offers excellent fly fishing and nearby Glorieta and Rowe Mesas provide great terrain for mountain biking. I still work part-time in Santa Fe and Pete is retired and enjoys spending time with our very friendly dog Tia and working on the property.
We are avid hikers and snowshoers in the winter. Glorieta Village is perfect for it.
