This elegant 6 bedroom/5 bathroom private home is nestled in the exclusive gated community of Old Fort Bay, serenely set on the western outskirts of Nassau. The crystal waters and powdery sands of some of the island’s finest beaches lie at your fingertips, while the international airport is less than 10 minutes away. Also nearby is a fine selection of dining options, a wine shop, the local grocery store, a spa where you can unwind after a long day in the sun and the immaculate oceanside Blue Shark Golf Course. The tastefully adorned kitchen has enough features to support a culinary team—a refrigerator, five-burner counter top stove, microwave with convection oven, AGA cooker, automatic dishwasher and garbage disposal.

There are 3 bedrooms upstairs, each with its own en-suite, including a spacious master bedroom with a private terrace where you can enjoy your morning coffee. The ground floor has two bedrooms and one shared bathroom. Detached from the house is a separate cottage above the garage featuring a full bed, daybed, a shower bathroom and a kitchen complete with an oven/stove and a fridge/freezer. All the bedrooms have comfortable mattresses, plush new pillows and soft white linens to help you feel at home. Enjoy your meals at any one for our three beautiful tables; the 8-seater indoor wooden dining room table, 6-seater table on the patio overlooking the pool or the 8-seater teak table under our new gazebo by the canal.

Guests of Sleepy Gull have the option to access the exclusive Old Fort Bay Club, which includes a pool and a gym, as well as a restaurant that opens opens for lunch and dinner. Please note that the club charges a fee for access, which can be confirmed with them directly and paid once you arrive in Nassau.

If you’re looking for things to do, a quick drive in our golf cart (included) will take you to tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground and a small pond where you can feed fish and ducks. Feel free to use our paddle-boards in the canal if you're feeling adventurous! Please note there will be a welcome book included with many other things to do!

A beautiful home in a quiet and safe gated community. The house was impeccably clean; the manager and staff were courteous and professional. The location is great for visiting Compass Point, Lyford, or Albany. Restaurants and shopping are right outside the gate; and the supermarket is close by. Recommended.

Perfect Family Home

We have stayed at this property a couple of times. Old Fort is a wonderful community with one of the prettiest beaches in Nassau. The house was perfect for us as we had kids and grandkids so plenty of space for all. Kim and Jenn couldn’t have been more helpful during our stay. We would love to come back more often.

If you need a rental on Nassau this is hands down the best choice. The house had everything you could need and more. The host Jen was excellent and Kim was so helpful in the house throughout the week. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, everyone had the most wonderful time!

We had a fabulous time at Sleepy Gull. Zero complaints about our time there. The house is beautiful and Old Fort Bay is truly lovely. Definitely add on the club guest pass to enhance your experience. Kim, the daily house manager is fabulous! We may miss her most of all!! We will be back.

Amazing New Years stay at an amazing house!

Our group stayed at Sleepy Gull for a week over New Years 2015-2016 and couldn't have had a better time. There were so many great things that I don't even know where to begin! In no particular order: - Jill is amazing and so helpful and responsive! You can't rent from anyone better (and I've rented over a dozen VRBO/Homeaway places). - House: The house is stunning and was perfect for our group of ten adults where we could easily spend time together but also separately as there was plenty of room to spread out (living room, multiple tables outside and kitchen/dining room). But also, the house is very kid friendly (baby gates, crib, high chair, etc) if you want to bring your little ones along (we were able to leave our kids with their grandparents during this trip but we missed them and thought how great the house would be for them too if they had come). - Location: The house sits on a beautiful and peaceful canal in Old Fort Bay and is close to an amazing beach club that you have access to with the house rental and we highly recommend you taking advantage of it! It's a short golf cart ride away and has beach chairs, umbrellas and food/drink service. We spent most of our days there, it was heavenly! - Other: We spent most of our time at the beach club as it was so lovely but I must say that we enjoyed some nice warm swims in the pool too. And took a fun stand up paddleboard ride on the canal too (there are two that come with the house)! Also, having Sonia for the daily maid service was really wonderful - she will food shop for you as well if you like. If you stay here, definitely check out the Island House nearby - our dinner at Shima was our best of the week and Mahogany House was delicious as well. There's a really great/big Fresh Market grocery store very nearby. Also, we did our initial grocery provisioning online with foodstore2go.com and had it delivered our first afternoon there and that was very easy. We lacked for nothing and really loved every moment of our trip and we hope to come again soon!!!

We just can't say enough about this property. Our family stayed over the July 4th holiday and the home comfortably held three families - the use of the cottage is ideal for larger groups! The home is exquisite, from the linens to the furnishings to the pool and canal out back. We saw sea turtles every morning and loved having the paddle boards to cruise down the canal. The location in Old Fort Bay allows you access to a private club with beautiful beach, fun beach cafe and pool, tennis, etc. The owner, property manager and housekeeper are all so helpful and communicative. They helped with anything and everything we needed and made our stay what it was - perfect! This is one of the rare rentals that makes you feel as comfortable as though you are in your own home - you will never want to leave. We can't wait to visit again!

Great family getaway

Stayed 9 days with family of 5 and grandparent in this charming, well maintained and clean home. Everything was as advertised. Joined the Club nearby (1 mile away) to get access to a pristine beach, beachside bar, and basic gym; this is a necessity to fully enjoy the area. The location of this gated community seemed a bit out of the way at first but I came to find it well located (not in a busy or touristy area, close to shops and enough restaurants) and liked that it was in an enclosed area. Beautiful homes around you, nice canal in the back, and feeling of peace and quiet. Very friendly house staff and manager. Overall, I very much recommend this property.

AMAZING HOUSE

We rented this house for guests for a wedding. All were totally thrilled. The house has many venues for all ages. It looks out on a canal, with dining available on the water's edge, as well as pool edge and inside... It has something for all ages and is meticulously maintained in good taste. Rooms are spacious with ensuite bathrooms. The house was spotless. Super value!!!

Really Lovely Location Home in Wonderful Secure Community

Sleepy Gull is a lovely house in the wonderful laid back community of Old Fort Bay. Getting to Old Fort was easy - ten minutes from the airport which made it really simple with family coming in/out at different times. House was well reflected through the photos with plenty of space for everyone. You are within minutes of a lovely beach and beach club. Facilities in the community were excellent with tennis, gym etc. and security. Daily paddle boarding on the canals was also good fun. Cody and Sonia helped with catering, setting up Christmas tree and making reservations for whatever we wanted to do. Really easy to get into the car and get to Nassau or Harbour Island as well. A lovely home which we would highly recommend.

Fantastic!

What can I say, this was really the perfect Thanksgiving holiday retreat for our family. The house is in great condition, very well appointed and maintained, with plenty of rooms and a great layout. Small pool out back, along with patio lounge, made for very relaxing days, while kids enjoyed the pool and the paddle boards on the canal. We could've just stayed here the entire time, but hop on the golf cart and zip over to an excellent private beach within Old Fort Bay complex, as well tennis and basketball and we really couldn't ask for more. We liked that the location was away from the hustle and bustle of the main Nassau tourist zones, but that said rental car came in handy for the occasional restaurant excursions. The owner (Jill) and on-site manager (Cody) were incredibly hospitable and ensured we had an excellent stay. Thank you both for everything! We look forward to visiting your home again!

Fabulous Vacation

This home and Club are exceptional. We have stayed in other VRBO properties but this experience topped them all. Activities for all ages. The reception from Jennifer and Sonia was brilliant. Even on short notice, the house and everything we requested was arranged perfectly for our arrival. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. A spacious and airy layout were just right for our crew. Room to relax together or sneak away for a little privacy were both just steps away. TV's, air-conditioning etc. worked perfectly. From the start, Jill was very prompt and detailed in all her responses which we really appreciated. She had additional team members available to us and even had an hour call with us to help us plan events while on the island and review our already purchased excursions to make sure we were getting a fair deal. On the day of arrival, the property manager stocked our fridge with food and beverages we requested which was really great. We opted in to have breakfast made for each day for an additional fee and it was absolutely worth it. Overall, the owner and team were top notch and will go above and beyond. I would highly recommend.

The most amazing house and the best service!!

There are so many amazing things I could say about this Jill and her beautiful house- all of them wonderful- but I know you are planning a trip, so I will try to be succinct: *Jill was so nice, kind and welcoming! We walked into perfectly prepared house with a hand written note and a a welcome basket of Bahamian beer and rum- so thoughtful! *The house was GORGEOUS! Everything is top of the line, we wanted for nothing, and the house sits on a beautiful canal that the pictures do not do justice! Everything is as amazing as it looks- and more! *The house manager was there to welcome us and give us a tour and 100% on call if we needed anything. She could not have been more kind and helpful! There was maid service during our 4 day stay- which was great too. *The house is in a beautiful neighborhood that is 10 minutes from the airport (don't worry- no airplane noise), and 5 minutes from a great grocery store. It is about 20 minutes from the main drag in Nassau, so if you are looking for casinos and Atlantis, you can get there and there are tons of cabs but it is a little further away. For us, we never wanted to leave the house or the beach- so it was perfect for us! We could not have picked a better house or a more wonderful person to rent from. We had 11 adults and everyone was totally happy and comfortable. If you are lucky enough to have this house as an option, take it! We hope to come back every year!

We purchased Sleepy Gull in 2009 so that we could spend time in Nassau with my family and allow our children to experience the beauty of the Bahamas. We decided to open the doors of our home to guests when we are not in Nassau and we truly look forward to sharing our home with you.
