About this property
Gorgeous cosy dog friendly Nidderdale cottage built 1780 short walk to shops
A truly unique and romantic place to stay, but don't just take our word, please read the many 5 star reviews from our guests who comment on the character, location and how well equipped the cottage is. The cottage is pet friendly with a dog towel, bowls and leads in case fido's forgets his luggage.
There is so much to do within walking distance of the cottage, so why not stay for 7 nights and save on nightly rates. The location is perfect for walking, and cycling. You may already know Pateley Bridge was a key location for the Tour de France and the Tour de Yorkshire. The Nidderdale Way goes within a few yards of the cottage, as well as walks nearby at Brimham Rocks. For those of us less energetic York and Harrogate are a short drive away for shopping or why not visit the many places of interest such as the World Heritage Site of Fountains Abbey which is a 10 minute drive.
Built in 1780 for the head gardener of Bewerley Hall, the cottage is warm and cosy , full of character and original features, and is only a few minutes walk from Pateley Bridge with its range of quality independent shops and cafes.
The cottage is perfect for either a short break or a fortnight stay. With views over Nidderdale from the rear of the cottage and the cherry tree lined village green to the front. The outlook from every window is perfect. The gardens to both front and back are the ideal place to sit and sip a glass of wine.
On arrival you enter into the cottage by the sun room with views from its windows across the stone flagged courtyard over the dale. You then go into a contemporary style kitchen with the stone staircase in the corner and exposed ceiling. Lots of appliances and handy supplies such olive oil, salt and pepper , foil and cling film, so no need to pack the kitchen sink! Another door leads off to a large boot room with WC and washer dryer, a perfect spot to dry damp clothes after a day's hiking, or to rub down your dog.
One step from the kitchen to the sitting room with a large log burner sitting in the stone fireplace, wooden ceiling, comfortable sofa and leather library chair. There are books, maps, DVD, CD and WiFi is also available along with an iPod docking station. It is then up the stone steps to the romantic bedroom with a king sized bed dressed with Egyptian cotton bedding. Finally the large en suite bathroom comes with walk in shower and slipper bath, complete with luxury toiletries.
Outdoor there is garden furniture in both the rear and front gardens so you can soak up the sun. There is also two off street parking spaces so no need to worry about your car if you decide to spend a day walking.

About the host
Hosted by Nigel
Nigel and his wife Denise have lived in Nidderdale for nearly 30 years and we share our home with our two labs, Russ and Willa . We live just 10 minutes from the cottage so we are always on hand if needed and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area.
Why they chose this property
Just visit the cottage and you will know why. Its warm, cosy and romantic and set in a perfect location for walking or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Harrogate is only 20 minutes drive away with some of the best shopping in the north of England. Pateley Bridge is the winner of best village high street and is only 5 minutes walk away with its excellent butchers, bakers and small supermarkets.
What makes this property unique
The character of the cottage is unique. We love the front entrance with its gothic style arch. Our guests they tell us they also love the location, because they can leave their car and enjoy so many walks from the front door, yet at the same time be within a few minutes of the small town of Pateley Bridge
