About this property
Farmhouse in old mill nestled in the beautiful Chianti hills
The farmhouse is part of the property called Molino Bianco, an old stone mill documented since the eleventh century.
As an annex of the fortress of Castiglionalto, Molino was inhabited by a Benedictine community until the fifteenth century .; numerous testimonies of their presence have come down to us;
The complex has been completely renovated but once again all the medieval charm in the original terracotta floors, in wooden beams in the millstones that were used by the monks for the production of flour, as well as in the ancient wall of Gora that embraces today modern stone pool.
The Mill is located 1 km from the Castle of Monteriggioni, walk or bike along the bike path that runs parallel to the SR 2 Cassia and connects the village of Castellina Scalo at the Castle.
The Castle is one of the most important fortified towns of the territory, it remained amazingly intact as if time had never tascorso on that hill, where elegantly lies.
15km away is Siena, a city that remains in the heart from the first time that you visit. Easy to reach, it is well suited for a day trip with the famous Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped, where the famous Palio is held.
Castellina in Chianti, with its expanses of vineyards and the most famous vineyards of the area, is only 5 km.
From Monteriggioni also one of the most beautiful stretches of the Via Francigena, which in medieval times brought pilgrims from Canterbury to Rome. From the farmhouse you can reach the route in less than 5 minutes walk.
Horseback riding or biking, trekking, hot air balloon rides, visits to art cities such as Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Colle val d'Elsa, reachable in less than 20 min, wine tours and tasting of the famous local products and fine Chianti wines, are just some of the activities you can do. Moreover, every year the Medieval Festival of Monteriggioni attract thousands of people. In the first two weekends in July the city, within its walls, it is animated by numerous events such as music, theater, dance performances and live historical re-enactments. Not to be missed.
The property is set in a park of over 2000 meters with cypress, acacia trees and Mediterranean flora where time is marked only by the chirping of birds and the sun's path.
In the Sienese Chianti area, renovated semi-detached house in an old water mill of the eleventh century, named Molino Bianco, used by Benedictine monks.
Antique furniture, precious textiles, exposed beams and warm Tuscan terracotta tiles emphasise the exclusive nature of this historic watermill.
Large private garden with swimming pool overlooking the Monteriggioni Castle is a warranty for perfect relaxing.
