A lovely property, well maintained and equiped, very large gardens ideal for pets. A convinient location for walks and visiting local attractions. Great communication and helpful information. Many thanks Pete
The Cottage in Walesby is a superb holiday house with absolutely everything there you might need. We had hot and sunny weather so spent a lot of evenings sitting on the patio. Good parking for two cars. Just up the road there is a very handy little shop in somebody’s garage selling provisions. Carpenters Arms looked good for Italian food but was fully booked for when we wanted to go.
We stayed here for 11 nights and had a lovely stay. The house and garden are great and we had lovely weather to be able to enjoy it and have a BBQ. The location is perfect to get everywhere including Sherwood forest, Lincoln and Nottingham and very close to Clumber Park and Thoresby Park which are lovely. We didn't need to use it as it was warm enough but in cold weather the under floor heating would be great :-)
Really nice clean cottage, Lots of space for the 6 of us which was handy as the weather was shocking while we were there. Host's were very helpful, We Would definitely return.
Lovely accomodation, well placed for Newark, Nottingham and Lincoln. House was well equipped and warm . Be warned if staying over Christmas and new year the carpenters arrms is not open so will need car if want to eat out, can recommend the fox at Kirton
We came to this area to visit National Trust Properties and were not disapointed, its a great location and the cottage is superb. Lovely dinning/ sun room on the back, with plenty of character in the old part of the property. Would return if were visiting this way again.
The Cottage is a wonderful clean, comfortable and cosy house, well positioned for many activities in the area. Even during a week of very very wet weather we found things to do and see.
We stayed for the second time at this property and 2nd experience was just as good as the first. Lots of space for kids, well equipped and furnished. Quiet area. Highly recommended.

The Cottage with everything
Spacious, extended and beautifully refurbished Cottage. Wish I could transport it back home. It has everything you could possibly need. Would highly recommend.
A wonderful cottage, modern, clean, huge and we missed nothing. Only the sleeping rooms were to bright to sleep through.
We always recognize a good landlord by whether there is a rubber squeegee in the showers. And of course there were ;-) !!
The owners were very helpful and friendly.
We visited lots of castles, museums, gardens, abbeys and workhouses and made sightseeing in Newark, Worksop, Mansfield, Nottingham, Sheffield and Lincoln. Our most favourite city is Lincoln: so clean, lovely and varied. Not to forget Sherwood Forest und Robin Hood. And last but not least: within one hour we reached the motor racing circuits Cadwell Park und Donington Park.
If we stop in Nottinghamshire again, we will definitely book “The Cottage” by Richard & Wendy again!!
PROS: House is very spacious and well equipt. Plenty of seating, mirrors, bathrooms, storage and lamps. The showers are plenty hot and powerful. There's a play park about a 3 minute walk away. The owners are really lovely as is John the gardener. The huge sliding glass doors to the garden are fab and it's great that they have blinds. The main room is a great social space for all the family to be together while the sitting room is a lovely cosy area. It feels safe and homely. Garden is nice and large. Within short drives of Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey (I recommend) and other attractions. Easy to get to. Wifi is good.
CONS: It's noisy - upstairs is polished wood floor boards which are very creaky and offer no soundproofing. Every noise upstairs can be heard down stairs and vice versa. Adults couldn't watch TV downstairs as it was keeping the children awake.
Pub down the road is loud and one set of neighbours were having a party.
Would be great to have salt and oil supplied in the kitchen.
There's a bees nest which guests should be warned about in advance incase of allergies.
Sehr schönes Cottage mit großem Garten. Geschmackvoll eingerichtet mit toller Küche. Sehr sauber, gute Betten. Sehr nette Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter.
We have just finished a wonderful week stay in The Cottage. Check in was very easy and the property was easy to find. Plenty of parking. The property had everything we needed and the kitchen was really well equipped meaning you could also have family meals at home. Large Tesco and an Asda 10 minute drive away. We came with our labrador and teenage son and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The garden is brilliant and our dog showed no interest in trying to find any gaps in the hedge and was secure all week. There is a lovely park about 2 doors down and loads of brilliant walks from the doorstep. The Carpenters Arms was closed so we went to Edwinstowe and there were loads of places for food. We ate at the Landsbury and food was amazing. We also ate in the Fox at Kirton and the food was nice and it has a large beer garden. We visited Sherwood forest and Sherwood pines (Go ape) and it was all less than a 20 minutes drive away. The Walesby activity centre is less than 5 minutes away and you can get a wrist band for activities for 11 each for a morning or 20 for the day. There is absolutely loads to do there so brilliant value. Walesby woods is very nice for a dog walk and not too busy. All in all a very relaxing stay in a family area. The teenager checked out the WiFi and it was fine for Xbox use.
Overall, we had a relaxing break with our dogs. The garden is to die for, and there are loads of places to have quiet, undisturbed walks. The property itself is huge and great value for money. Thanks for the use of the BBQ; it really made our stay in the sunshine.
