Please note that we only rent out Charcoal House for the following options:-
1. Full week from a Monday or Friday.
3. 3 night weekend of Friday to Monday.
4. 4 night mid-week break of Monday to Friday.
Charcoal House is a gorgeous large country house with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
The house is located just half a mile from the shores of Coniston Water in the heart of the Lake District National Park.
This traditional stone-built 18th country house is located in a very peaceful off-road location in the tiny hamlet of Low Nibthwaite, just ½ a mile from the southern tip of Coniston Water.
The house has recently been decorated throughout using heritage Farrow & Ball co-ordinating shades and refurbished and furnished to a very high standard.
The price includes luxury Egyptian cotton bedlinen, towels, central heating and electric.
The house has full central heating, continuous hot water and 2 log fires if you love the ambience of a real fire.
This gorgeous Lake District holiday house and the large sunny cottage garden are south facing. There’s also off-road parking for 4 cars.
SITTING ROOM
The large sitting room is located on the 1st floor and has large glass doors opening onto the balcony. The balcony is a great place to sit and relax.
This is a gorgeous room that is very light and spacious and has a huge ‘wow factor’ with its huge oak beams, thick stone walls and a roaring log fire.
There’s sofas and chairs for 8 people and a Samsung Smart TV
The large balcony is a great place to relax and unwind.
KITCHEN
The large country style kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need for luxurious, modern living and entertaining including a microwave, dishwasher, large fridge freezer, crockery, glasses, cutlery, kitchen equipment & utensils for 8 people.
The twin oven Aga range cooker is left on constantly throughout the year providing lovely ambient warmth and the unbeatable taste of Aga cooking.
The open plan kitchen has a breakfast bar, large dining table and 8 chairs and just off the kitchen is the ‘Snug’ seating area with a sofa and coffee table. This is a great area for the kids to get away on their own whilst the rest of the group relax at the other end of the house in the large sitting room.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
Upstairs you’ll find 3 bedrooms all located off a lovely large landing with a huge skylight that fills the house with natural light.
The 3 large bedrooms are luxuriously furnished with new beds, mattresses and quality wood furniture.
2 bedrooms have king sized beds and the largest bedroom has a super king sized bed that can be unzipped to make twin beds (please let us know at the time of booking if this is your requirement).
The house has 2 good sized bathrooms, 1 with a large walk-in shower and the 2nd bathroom has a roll top, claw foot, free standing bath.
Luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are included in the price along with central heating, electric, hot water and free Wi-Fi.
UTILITY ROOM
The utility room just off the kitchen houses the washing machine, tumble drier, large fridge freezer and an additional sink. This is also a great boot room and drying room.
THE GARDEN
The large, south facing cottage garden has a summer house, a brick built BBQ, plus a table and chairs for 8 people. The peaceful, secluded garden is a wonderful place to dine ‘al fresco’ or just enjoy the peace and quiet of the English Lake District.
GARAGE
Guests are welcome to make use of the large, secure garage to store bicycles, canoes and other outdoors equipment.
THE NOOK
Included in the price is The Nook, a large, spacious, ground floor apartment that is accessed via a door from the utility room next to the kitchen.
The Nook provides the 4th bedroom and has a lovely open plan design with a king-sized bed, an ensuite shower room with a power shower, toilet and basin.
The Nook also has a fully equipped kitchen, a seating area with a sofa, flat screen TV and a roaring log fire. The French doors offer in lots of light.
The Nook is a great asset to the house as it can be used as private annex if any of your group want a bit of privacy.
The extra kitchen is ideal for large groups and offers a conventional oven for anyone who is not too sure about using the Aga in the main kitchen.
The Nook is not rented out separately. It is included with the rest of the house.
Charcoal House in Low Nibthwaite is the perfect destination for a relaxing, romantic or adventure filled Lake District holiday.
PETS
Well behaved dogs are welcome for a charge of £20 for 1 dog or £30 for 2 dogs. Sorry, but we do not allow more than 2 dogs.
Non pet owners can rest assured that we spend this extra money on additional cleaning so that non pet owners wouldn’t know a dog has stayed in Charcoal House.
This is a great area for dogs with plenty of walks from the doorstep. Charcoal House is surrounded by mountains, fells, fields, footpaths, woods and riverside walks where your dog can have a great holiday too.
The large enclosed garden has just had new fencing put up so you can all enjoy the garden together.
