Nolay is an excellent base to explore Burgundy & Pierre’s gite is great accommodation. A spacious dwelling in a quiet neighbourhood, a couple of minutes walk from the bakeries & restaurants. Parking out front, fully equipped kitchen, ensuite bathrooms & washing machine & dryer. Ticked all the boxes for us, all enhanced by Pierre a warm welcoming host.
Our stay was terrific. We had difficulty with our GPS and finding the place but our host guided us there. He also stayed late to orient us to the property. He even came back the next morning to show us around a little village.

Pierre’s house offers the unique experience of a medieval façade with the most modern decor and comforts inside which made our days in Nolay just perfect. Now, Pierre is the most attentive host who gives a five stars welcome, very detailed information about of the house and takes you on a town walk filled with the best tips!

Thanks for the kind words. It was a true pleasure to have you as our guests. We hope to see you again. Cheers.
Pierre was an excellent host. The gite was spacious and comfortable with a lot of charm. Nolay is a lovely small village which we used as our base for day trips to wineries, an abbey, and even caught a stage of the Tour de France. Being able to make our own breakfasts with local produce using the gite’s kitchen was also a plus. We highly recommend it as a quiet getaway, and as a base to tour Burgundy.
Tastefully furnished with stylish bathrooms. It was hot but we kept the curtains closed in the daytime and it kept the gite very cool to return too. Central town location so handy for the supermarket butchers shop and the Boulangerie. Lovely bar in the square to sit outside anytime.
Host was helpful in recommending winery’s to visit.
Nolay provided an excellent base for our time in the region, with so many memories, restaurants and bars which were open or not, depending on the day. A swimming hole shared with ducks. A bike track to Santenay, (with an excellent piscine-June to September). A shirt trip to Beaune.
Our host Pierre provided a very nice welcome including a guided tour of the village.
Place was great. Location is fantastic. Comfortable and roomy with all the amenities you can imagine. Day trips from this location is great. If you love older villages and being in wine country, then this place is for your. The village of Nolay itself has all the things you need at your fingertips including a nice supermarket nearby. Pierre is a fantastic host and we immediately connected with him and already miss him. He gave us the complete tour of the village when we arrived. We recommend this place to anyone wanting a fantastic place to stay in the Bourgogne region of France
We had a fantastic experience staying at Pierre and Valerie's charming property! It was located in an extremely quite area yet still has quick walking access to shops and restaurants. The true value to staying here is the owners themselves. They were both extremely helpful in suggesting restaurants, shops, wineries, etc. They greeted us our first evening with a bottle of wine and sat with us filling us with information for our stay. I can't say enough about their hospitality and friendliness! My wife and I said this was our best VRBO/HomeAway experience ever. I would recommend this property without any hesitation whatsoever!

Thanks for the kind words Tony.
It was a pleasure to have you as our guests and I truly hope our paths cross again in the future.
Cheers!
Our overall stay was wonderful. Pierre met us and did a thorough walk through of the gite as well as took us on a brief tour of Nolay! This was most helpful for us! It was very quite and peaceful! Beds were very comfortable and linens thick! This was easy to find! Short walk to the town square! The apartment is modern with all new appliances and yet retains the old world charm! Parking adjacent to the building was very convenient!
Our only note of caution-if you have any mobility issues the spiral stairs to the upper level where bedrooms and only bathroom are located, would make this a difficult stay!
This small apt, (feels like a cottage,) is so attractive and comfortable. There are two nice bathrooms and each has a private bath. There is a well equipted kitchen and a roomy sitting space with a nice view of a village street. There is also a nice table for meals. It's a nice looking as it appears in the photos. It is obvious that the owners took time and care to create a lovely space with fine details of finish work. The owners are very pleasant as well, one leaves wishing we could all be real friends. The location is perfect for exploring the Burgundy area. it's history and it's acclaimed food and wine.

Such lovely guests! Thank you for your feedback and glowing review. We certainly look forward to seeing you again and wish you all the best!
Charming Gite in the quaint little village of Nolay. In the heart of wine country with beautiful scenery everywhere!
We were fortunate enough to be there during the wine harvest season! Too much wine…. In too short of time!!!
Our host Pierre was just wonderful, very informative, helpful and we wish we could have spent more time with him! This Gite has been well appointed and beautifully decorated! The only bathroom is off the master bedroom.
It was a wonderful stay and we would love to comeback!
We would highly recommend this Gite!
We had a great time! The place was very nice -- well-appointed and comfortable, and a good home base for exploring the area. Pierre and his wife were excellent and responsive hosts; check-in and check-out was great.
Notes about Nolay: It's very small and quiet, which is great if that's what you were looking for. (It was.). Several restaurants, most of which were only open for lunch, although we had an excellent dinner at Au Tier Bouchon. Places might be open or might not, which I suppose is part of the charm. But, trust me, you will not go without cuisine opportunities if that's what you're looking for. But a car would definitely be helpful, if not essential.
Anyway, we had a very pleasant stay. Gorgeous country, nice people, and an excellent place to crash for a few days.
It truly IS a Charming Gite in a medieval village, with lovely hosts!
My husband and I stayed for nearly three weeks, with a week-long visit from two other family members. The space accommodated us very well. Our aim was for a quiet, low-key getaway from everything so we could just read and write, or watch TV and relax, but also be close to amenities and walking trails . . . this was perfect. That said, we were surprised by the number of people walking past the place with dogs, children on the way to and from school, etc. We certainly did not feel stuck in a remote place! We walked almost daily to the top of the hill outside the village ... a decent, but not onerous, trek (guessing 3-4 kilometers/2.5-3 miles round trip). There are other walks and bike paths, but we didn't explore them.We did several day trips to surrounding villages & cities (Dijon, Lyon), taking in a winery, moutardarie, and other local shops & artisans. Lots of driving, but the countryside offers breathtaking views of miles & miles of vineyards, sunflowers, and various other crops. The weather was VERY hot for several days (32C/92F) but it was possible to keep the gite several degrees cooler than outdoors with the provided window coverings completely pulled. Pierre was extremely, promptly responsive to every request we made. And we were so pleased and privileged to share meaningful conversation with him and his lovely wife, Valerie. The gite itself was well-equipped & up-to-date. Thank you so much, Pierre & Valerie; we highly recommend your charming gite!

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with the village of Nolay because of its Medieval charm, but also because of its perfect location within the wine region. Only 20 minutes away from Beaune and 1 hour away from Dijon, Nolay is the perfect pied a terre to discover the region. Nolay is vibrant village with small shops and restaurants and a magnificent medieval square and market hall.

We have taken great care to furnish and equip our house with high quality fixtures and designer decor.
