A beautiful gem in the woods

Lexi's place is a wonderful cottage in the woods, furnitured with lots of love for the detail. All our needs were fulfilled and even topped. We have felt at home from the very beginning and were sad for having to leave. The cottage is on 3 floors, with 1 bedroom and bath downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. Traveling with a teenager this was perfect for us - we had room for the whole family but each of us also had enough privacy space. The cottage is close to downtown Bigfork, Flathead Lake, Swan River and an easy drive to Kalispell, Glacier National Park, Whitefish and Big Mountain. Lexi and her family were always very friendly and helpful. We are very thankful for this wonderful experience and we will be back!!!

Best Vacation Rental We Have Stayed In

We LOVED this vacation rental! The cabin was unique, private, and clean. The decor in the cabin was fun and made the stay extra special. You can't even see a neighbor. The location was very private, BUT very convenient and accessible. It only took us 10 minutes to get to Bigfork and an EASY 1 hour ( or less?) drive to Glacier Natl Park. In the evenings, we enjoyed driving along the shoreline of Swan Lake and hanging out on the beach to watch the boats. Cabin is well equipped with everything you might need as well. There is an outdoor picnic table and lawn chairs to enjoy the creek behind the cabin. Thank you for sharing your special place with us!!

Wonderfully charming cottage. It was hard to leave.

Swan Cottage was a true home away from home. I loved being in the woods in this sweet cottage. We will definitely be back.

Comfort and tranquility

After spending a week in this cabin, I hated to leave! The cabin itself is fully stocked, comfortable, and well taken care of. As for location, the cabin is set back in the winter wonderland of trees and snow to where I felt like I was in a world all of my own, yet all my basic necessities could be found 15 minutes away. This cabin is such that you could spend your entire vacation relaxing in the tranquility of this property, or entertain yourself with a myriad of outdoor activists, as the airport and quaint towns are within easy driving distance. (I spent most of my time reading by the fireplace, however) :) The owner, Lexi, is fantastic! She and her family were sensitive to my traveling alone and took fantastic care of me, especially when my flights were delayed by several hours and my luggage didn’t arrive for almost 2 days due to complications of a snowstorm. Lexi is a 5 star hostess with a 5 star cabin! Will definitely be staying again when I return with my family at a later date!

Summer is fire season

The cabin is interestingly decorated, secluded and stocked with items for cooking and games and books for passing the time. Summer may not be the best time to visit though due to the bad fire season with the associated hazardous and unhealthy smoke that has been in the Flathead Valley since August 10. The smoke prevents any substantial outdoor activity and affects the visibility. Even Glacier Park was very smokey with limited visibility. The cabin does not have a radio or basic cable TV so it is a challenge to find information for evacuation or to monitor the hazardous air quality. We spent most of our time in the cabin. The lower level has a narrow circular stairway that one must be very careful on. The bed down stairs has a sinking hole in the middle as well as the day bed. Both are uncomfortable. Better pillows are also needed. The bed up stairs is decent. The back patio was inviting and would be nice during times of fresh air. The land is scenic and as is described with a stream and visiting deer and turkeys.

Beautiful setting and well equipped Cottage home.

Easy to work with the caretakers. Kitchen well stocked with what you would need to cook meals. Bedrooms are cozy but the bathrooms could have had more washcloths and tissues. If anyone in your party has trouble with stairs (bad knees) I would warn to acess bedrooms you either have to maneuver a narrow spiral staircase downstairs or some stairs to the second floor. We also enjoyed the town of Bigfork and the drive to Glacier National Park. I would advise if possible to see status of Wildland fires in the area when you visit as the air was smoked out the whole time as if it were a rainy day. Good experience over all.

romantic swan cottage

Quaint and homey with beautiful details. Quiet. It was wonderful just being around the property. My parents stayed upstairs and we were downstairs. There was great privacy even with 4 people in the house.

Beautiful setting, Thoughtfully decorated. Perfect Montana home.

We picked Swan Cottage because we wanted to be in the Montana woods, the bonus was Johnson Creek flowing through the back yard. Perfect spot on the porch to enjoy the rippling water, the deer and general feeling of quiet and peace the mountains bring. The cottage location is perfect in getting to Bigfork, Glacier, Swan Valley or anywhere you want to go in Northwestern Montana. It is fully outfitted in every way, cooked wonderful meals in the kitchen numerous times and ate along side the deer grazing near the stream. Very tranquil. The beds are very comfortable and the home perfectly captures the French Country design with a Montana Vibe, testament to the owners time and energy in decorating this beautiful piece of paradise. We obviously loved our time here and would come again in a heart beat. We loved it so much we bought property just a block away and will be building soon!! Much thanks to the owner and her caretaker, they both were very helpful and accommodating. Don't hesitate to stay here if you want a true Montana feel.

Wonderful, relaxing, secluded.

We had a great stay at the Swan Cottage. It was clean, quiet and a convenient drive to downtown Big Fork. The only bummer was that we had to keep our dog downstairs and it was really cold down there. We couldn't get the heater to work, so he stood at the top of the stairs a lot when we were up cooking looking at us like, "what did I do wrong"? Anyway, it was nice that we were able to have him there, and we ended up spending most of our time outside anyway. There is a nice dog run out back, and had it not been raining we would have let him run free in the yard instead. Lexi and Julie were really great to work with, they replied to all of my messages immediately, and we even had a chance to meet Lexi's Dad and friend who stopped by to bring an extra set of keys. They were really friendly to us California folk! Thanks Lexi and Julie! :)

Perfect Montana Cottage

Swan Cottage was everything we hoped for. It was a perfect log cottage for our Montana vacation. The home deccorations were lovely "Shabby Sheik" with lots of antiques. The cottage had plenty of room for two couples and was pristine clean. Centrally located for Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Swan Lake. We fell in love with Bigfork.

Beautiful, quiet, and charming. 3 nights was not long enough.

Lexi was so easy to work with. Answered any questions we had. Booking was easy. Price was wonderful for the quality of lodging. Pictures on the website were beautiful, that's why we decided in this location, but the pictures don't compare with the gorgeous property. Lexi is talented and artistic. Her design concept makes you feel you are in the French country. We loved the extra touches she had. The location was perfect for us. We wanted to be close, but in a quiet secluded area. The stream behind the house was perfect for our morning coffee. The deck was our favorite. Each night we had a nice glass of wine, listened to the birds and wild life. Her gardens were the perfect touch. The kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens. When you book, you will want to stay a week to enjoy all the area has to offer. We will return often. This has become our new favorite place.

Wonderful Place

This place is great. Truly the Montana feel. The cabin is very cozy, clean and the beds are so nice. I actually slept better than my own bed. Me and my wife sat on the back porch a number of times and saw a doe feeding about every time. It has a nice walkway over the creek that you can sit on, read a book, and dip your feet in. We enjoyed dinner on the picnic table outside then built a little fire for a perfect evening. The owner was so nice and let us know about different things to do in the area. We will definitely visit Montana again and we hope this place will still be available.

Just as described!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swan Cottage the week after Christmas. The private wooded property and snow was beautiful and the cabin so comfortable, warm, and inviting we would have been content to stay on the property all week and enjoy the winter and each other's company. We did make excursions to Kalispell to skate outdoors at the local park (ice skate rentals available at Wheatons), to Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort for downhill and cross country skiing (cross country trails are not part of the resort; the trail heads are about 5 miles away from the resort), and to Bigfork to shop and walk the Swan River Nature Trail. We also enjoyed a visit to Kehoe's Agate shop which has a beautiful fine jewelry section in addition to their amazing agates. On our last day we saw there was a sledding hill a little ways down Hwy 83 from cabin (going away from Bigfork) and my husband saw sleds in the shed that were presumably available for use. At the cabin, the kitchen was well-equipped making it easy to cook meals together. And It was nice that the cabin had 3 levels, allowing us to enjoy different activities and privacy during the week. Our only disappointment was getting ready to play a DVD and finding the DVD player was not working, but we had brought a puzzle and did that instead! Lexi and Julie were both helpful and welcoming. This is a place that I would love to return to again. I bet it is beautiful in the summer!

Just what the Doctor ordered

My wife and I stayed at this lovely cabin for the holidays this past season and we absolutely loved it. Incredibly warm and cozy, this spot is a great place to focus on the important things in life. We enjoyed cooking our meals in the wonderful kitchen and the fire pit outside was awesome. I'm definitely coming back during hunting season!

Wonderful cottage, loved our stay

We had the nicest stay at Lexi's cottage this summer. We were lucky enough to get to spend a full month there and we loved every day of it. The house has everything anyone would need to feel comfortable and at home. The kitchen is adorable, and the open layout was great for our family. I particularly loved the mudroom, we have two little boys so to be able to have a separate room for shoes, swim suits, toys, and whatever else they come up with during the day is great. It kept the mess in the house to a minimum. There is lake access and plenty of wildlife right out the front door, it really felt like a vacation spot. Lexi was a wonderful host, communication was great and she always went the extra mile to help out however she could. We absolutely will stay here again!

Great winter vacation spot in the close to all the activities

My family and I stayed here over the New Year holiday and we were pleasantly surprised with this property. Great location that was close to cross country ski trails, and our snow mobile guide met us at the driveway on multiple days for excursions up the mountain. The cabin was very cozy and warm, with excellent heat and a beautiful kitchen. We will definitely be staying here again!

Beautiful Log Cabin, Beautiful Location

We stayed at this beautiful Montana cabin in August. It was such a delight to be nestled in the woods with the sounds and views of a creek. It was also fun to see the deer that passed through the yard daily. The property is secluded, yet not too far from the town of Bigfork and the other Flathead Valley activities. The house is as lovely on the inside as it is on the outside. The owners have done a great job with giving you all the amenities you need to feel right at home. Very clean and cozy too! We would highly recommend this property to others and would love to stay here ourselves again in the future!

Comfortable and Quaint

This was a great place for a quiet get-away. It provides great privacy, yet is only about 15 minutes from Big Fork. I've spent time here in the summer and the winter. There's so much to do no matter the time of year. It is quintessential Montana and recommend this home to all my married/dating friends.

Lovely cottage on the river

Love, love, love staying here. It's so cozy and beautifully decorated. The owner is an interior designer so it feels like you just stepped into a Town and Country ad. It's a huge property and offers complete privacy - the only neighbors you'll see are the deer that tiptoe by while you're having your morning coffee. We'll definitely be returning!

A winter wonderland and summer haven

I had the pleasure of visiting the cabin in winter last year and just fell in love. Nestled in the woods, it is a perfectly peaceful hide away, surrounded by a blanket of pure white snow when I visited. Once inside you are just as cosy as can be though, in a beautiful traditional Montana lodge, given a stylish and beautifully whimsical make over by the owner (think lots of winter whites mixed with locally sourced woods). There is a lovely wood burner in the main room to cuddle next too after a day exploring, and a open plan kitchen that makes cooking up a meal a great family affair. We were never short of activities while we were there, despite the cold temperatures. Every day was a different delight, from snowshoeing in the pretty grounds of the cabin, to taking in local sights with dog sledding and skiing on Black mountain and Big Mountain (Whitefish). Just driving around enjoying the scenery was a delight in itself! I didn't get the chance on my visit, but I hear Ski-dooing and ice skating on the lake are also 'must dos'. Bigfork is just a short drive away, which has great restaurants and some cute stores, and for a larger town and super cute shopping, Whitefish is also just a short distance. I've also been lucky enough to visit preciously during the summer, and it is just as wonderful then but in a totally different way. The cabin grounds are lush green with a fab fire pit for the evenings, and a babbling brook flows just by the house. Swan or Flathead lakes are just close by for all types of water sports, and the hiking is just unrivalled! The owner, Lexi, is super helpful and can offer some great advice and ideas too, which ever season you choose to visit.

Quaint, perfect and secluded Montana Living!

I stayed in this beautiful log cabin for a couple months. If you want a Montana experience this is the place to be. Wildlife at your doorstep-with Bambi's, rabbits, and foxes prancing everywhere. I even spotted a baby black bear right outside the window picking and eating fallen berries from the lawn. This place is enchanting inside and out! Lexi(the owner-sweetest as most at tentative landlord you'll ever deal with) happens to be an incredibly talented interior designer and re-innovated the the inside to make it the most cozy, inspiring and beautiful place to spend your time indoors! I love to cook and the kitchen is equip with everything you need! Including a top notch juicer-for the health nuts out there-along with pot/pans, measuring tools, and dishes! Every room you enter, you'll having stunning views of the outdoor scenery. There's a small stream out back to sit along side and possibly picnic! The yard is a whole other experience included with this place. Two fire pits, beautiful green lawn to roll around in and a fenced in garden/yard for dogs if needed! I found myself getting lost in the woods and snapping beautiful photos just in the backyard! This is the place to visit and stay if you're coming to Montana to have an amazing, unforgettable experience.

I purchased this property to be near my family during the summer months. I have been enjoying summers in Bigfork for the last 20 years. I renovated this home two years ago and have been using it as a summer get away during my visits home from Hong Kong to be near family. I would love to share my little slice of solitude and adventure with you.

Why they chose this property

Swan Cottage is nestled along Johnston creek. There is nothing like soaking up the sunshine from a hammock, reading a book while listening to the creek run by. During the winter months I love cross country skiing, and snow shoeing from my front door. You can walk to Swan Lake, and Swan Sites public and private access points within ten minutes. Please let me know if I can assist you with any local tourism arrangements such as boat rentals, hike suggestions, where to ice skate, or where to dog sled. This is the ideal destination for the outdoor enthusiast.

What makes this property unique

Swan Cottage also includes public Swan Sites access which allows you to put your boat, canoe, or kayak onto Swan Lake.
