The cottage was perfect for our family. And it is within walking distance of the restaurants and shops in port royal. We will definitely stay there again.
Quaint house, very clean and comfortable. Great location within walking distance of food and activities. Convenient to Beaufort area activities as well.
Enjoyed the home, it is quaint, clean and close to so many places. Private backyard with birds chirping. Enjoyed our stay very much. Perfect for the 3 of us.
Wonderful place to stay . Quiet neighborhood . Close to everything we wanted to do . Plenty of room . Dog friendly . Would love rocking chairs on porch 😉
Perfect little cottage for my husband and I to spend a few nights at while exploring Beaufort. Very homey and loved the personality of this home. Neighborhood was beautiful with the old trees and Spanish Moss. Loved walking to the wetlands every day to see the birds!
This Port Royal cottage is perfect for older couples wanting a quiet and safe location. Husband located not only local fishing pier but piers in nearby Beaufort and Hilton Head (only 30 minutes drive). Restaurants nearby as well as grocery stores - sufficient supplies at cottage to cook local fish! Cottage was clean and nicely set up. Nice to know that bedspreads/comforters are washed after every guest! Would stay here again!
We rented the home for a month. From the moment we walked in, it felt like home. It's cozy and welcoming. The two times we needed to contact the owner for supplies, she was there within minutes. Each morning we would walk to the bird sanctuary a street over and watch the birds take off at dawn. Then it was a short stroll to three coffee places. Lots to do in the area including bike trails, the marine base, and historical areas. The neighbors across the street even brought us fresh-baked sourdough bread! This was our first "snowbird" adventure and we hit the jackpot.
I am the granddaughter of Saxby Stowe Chaplin and Margurite Chaplin of Port Royal and Callawassee Island in South Carolina. It was my 58th anniversary and we chose to stay in my grandmothers house which we accidently found on VRBO. To my dismay, it had been sold twice since my grandmother passed. What's done is done. to those looking for a cute place to stay, this would be it. The new owners have fixed it up quite cute. It was very clean and has all the comforts of home. My great grandfather and grandmother, the parents of Margurite, were the last survivors of Callawassee Island. Thus the book, which probably is in the local bookstore or on line.
Their names are William and Rebecca Vaigneur. After leaving Callawassee, the settled in Port Royal. They built my grandmothers house and theirs. One on the corner from the other. In this house. my grandparents raised 7 children. The oldest being my mother Ruth. I once lived there as a child. I am now 79 years old. The warmth and love and kindness in this house was none other. My family was musical as well. so many times the banjo was brought out along with guitars and steel guitars. Such laughter consumed us. There are many stories but they can't be in this space. If you want a warm and friendly place to stay, please visit my grandmothers house and feel the history. I recommend it highly.

House was perfect, very clean and is exactly as described. Port Royal is a great community, very quiet, little traffic and many things to do within walking distance. We stay 18 nights on a work trip and would gladly stay again.

Not Fancy yet perfect for a few days of time away from home. Beds were amazingly comfortable! Location was perfect! Front porch was awesome! AC was cold! We will be back!Thank you for sharing your blessings with others ,like myself!LM
We had a great time it’s a great location right next to a kids park and right next to the sands and near a museum, very clean when we came in and great communication with her!
For a three night quick visit to the area this place was perfect and very accommodating. Clean, great communication and location. All stars on the things that matter!
We loved it! Right down the road was restaurants, playgrounds and the sands beach. The house is definitely older but it had everything we needed and was clean and adorable! I will definitely book here again, the location itself was perfect!
This house was the perfect location. Walkable to the restaurants and close the beach and marina. We drove our boat and rented a slip at safe harbor port royal which was about a mile away. We rented a golf cart as well. We had the most amazing time.
Great location. Walking distance for breakfast at The Griddle & Grits. Great place with yummy breakfast options. And The Fish Camp on 11th Street. Again best place to eat dinner on the area. House was quaint and the owner was available for a minor repair during our stay. Highly recommend this property
We loved the communication before we booked. Host was very friendly & honest. Home was in a quiet area close to Parris Island. Recommend for anyone coming to town. 5*
The listing and communication with Margaret was transparent and accurate from the start. The house was cosy and equipped as the listing described. Port Royal is a wonderful neighborhood with plenty of dog friendly areas and paths. We had a wonderful time
When we walked in the door, we felt as if we were back at our grandparents’ homes in the good old days! It is the low country style we remember and love- only with much better beds and linens! The location is absolutely perfect! We were quite comfortable and content. While I didn’t do any cooking, I certainly felt that the home was adequately equipped if one chose to prepare a simple meal. We will definitely stay here again!
Property was absolutely as described. Host responded quickly when messaged. Great location within a mile of everything, only wish I had booked it for longer. Will be back have already told my family about it.

Rob and I have been in Beaufort since 1998. We have three children - 2 boys in college and one girl who is in high school. I am from Hopkinsville, KY and graduated from the University of KY - GO CATS! Rob is from the Myrtle Beach area and graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He was an airline pilot for 22 years and now owns a commercial landscaping business. We manage several long term rental properties. This cottage is our first attempt at a short term, furnished rental. We have tried to make it comfortable and functional. If you have any suggestions for us on how to improve it, please feel free to let us know.
Why they chose this property
We love the town of Port Royal with its unique shops and restaurants. We bought this house with VRBO in mind. It was in need of a lot of TLC. We did most of the work ourselves and truly loved how it turned out.
