The apartment is an optimal solution for the summer months due to its proximity to the best beaches in Sinis but it is also particularly suitable for lovers of nature, the quiet and the beauty of the intermediate seasons.

Nature

It is one of the most interesting areas of the island. Close to the coast, 6,000 hectares are made up of wetlands. This immense lagoon complex constitutes one of the most diversified existing wet ecosystems, by extension the second in Italy.

A fantastic game of bodies of water, in addition to creating an environment of rare beauty from a landscape point of view, hosts a very rich birdlife, with very rare species. White, red and gray herons, mallard, Turkish fistione, pink flamingo and sultan chicken are some of the frequent visitors to the ponds in the area.

Also as regards the flora, the complex offers a very vast and interesting picture. Large expanses of Salicornia Fruticosa and rushes, several Limonium, some of which are endemic, the esparto, the great fishbone and the violet of the Sinis make up the band of vegetation that surrounds these wetlands.

Along the coast, near Santa Caterina di Pittinuri, we admire the white cliffs of Miocene limestone with plastic and bizarre shapes. Among these, S'Archittu, a natural arch carved by the sea, is certainly worthy of particular note.

After km of beautiful beaches, from Punta S'Incodina, the cliffs start to rise elegantly on the beautiful expanse of sea. Once in Capo Sa Sturaggia the coast becomes abruptly low. Here the quartz beach of Is Aruttas begins, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia.

Continuing south you reach Turr'e Seu, a small promontory which houses a naturalistic oasis protected by the Italian WWF.

A short distance from the coast is the island of Mal di Ventre, 80 hectares of splendid coves and Mediterranean scrub with high naturalistic interest.

History and Archeology

Oristano boasts a very interesting historical and cultural heritage, having been the capital of the Giudicato of Arborea, the last independent Sardinian state expression before the conquest by the Crown of Aragon.

In the province of Oristano, man arrived about 6,000 years before Christ to look for obsidian in the bowels of Monte Arci. Along the banks of the ponds, the first hut villages were built and collective tombs were excavated on the hills: some domus de janas were found near the sea in the territory of San Vero Milis.

The Nuragic civilization is testified by the splendid complex of the Nuraghe Losa, in the Abbasanta plain. A little further south, in Santa Caterina di Paulilatino there is an admirable example of a nuragic sanctuary, with a well temple built in perfectly squared basalt blocks.

Around 725 a. C. the Phoenicians founded the cities of Tharros and Othoca (Santa Giusta), while the Carthaginians, after conquering Sardinia at the end of the 6th century BC. C., built the cities of Neapolis and Cornus. During the Roman era, these centers equipped themselves with infrastructures such as spas, aqueducts and temples, partially visible in Tharros.

In Roman times the settlement of the Aquae Ypsitanae, called between 98 and 117 AD, had a certain importance. C. Trajan Forum. Still today in Fordongianus the grandiose testimonies of the thermal baths and the amphitheater can be observed.
The age of the Vandals and the Byzantines followed. In this period the early Christian church of San Giovanni di Sinis was built. The structure, which has a Byzantine cross plan and three naves, has undergone significant transformations in the Romanesque period.

Around 900 there was the era of the four kingdoms (or Giudicati) of Cagliari, Logudoro, Gallura and Arborea. The latter first had Tharros as its capital and from 1070 Oristano, which manifests its glorious past in its cathedral, churches, towers and walls.

During this phase, with the arrival of the monks, the churches of San Paolo in San Vero Milis and the splendid Cathedral of Santa Giusta were built. The first, founded by the Camaldolese, has a system dating back to the XII century, with a two-colored façade: basalt and trachyte bands alternating with sandstone bands. The cathedral of Santa Giusta has Pisan forms and Lombard influences, is made of trachyte, with an interior with three naves.

It was the Spaniards who put an end to the dream of independence in the area and the whole of Sardinia, in fact the Giudicato of Arborea was also the last to resist the Aragonese. The mighty and numerous coastal towers built between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries still remain from this long period.

In the territory of Cabras we have the San Giovanni tower, the San Marco tower, the Sevo tower and the Porto tower; in the Cuglieri area the Capo Nieddu tower, the Pittinurri tower and the Su Puttu tower. In San Vero Milis we find: the Capo Mannu tower, Sa Mora tower and Scala 'e Sali tower.

A special mention goes to the tower of Marina di Torregrande, in the municipality of Oristano. The structure is in fact the largest of the island of its kind; the beginning of the works took place in 1535, it was operative in 1555. 17 meters high, it has a diameter of 20 and develops on two levels.
