Weneki's Island Paradise is an oceanfront complex, ground floor condo with a garden/pool view and just steps from access to the ocean. Located in Honokowai, just 5 minutes from Lahaina. It is a 1 bedroom without A/C, fully furnished with a Cal-King bed, 1 bath with tub/shower combo, fully-equipped and updated kitchen with granite countertops, TV/DVD/Wi-fi, and access to many local amenities including dining, a local farmers market, grocery stores, shopping, night life, art galleries, and fishing & snorkel rentals. Hale Ono Loa is quiet, uncrowded, and provides access to amenities such as a BBQ area, swimming pool, sundeck, shuffleboard, and on-site laundry facilities. The complex allows ocean access for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, surfing, and wildlife observation. Watch a beautiful island sunset over Lanai and Molokai from your private deck, and enjoy all that Maui has to offer from the comforts of Weneki's Island Paradise!

Perfect Spot for a week in Maui

We really enjoyed staying at Wendy’s place for our anniversary trip. The complex is quiet and clean and the neighbors are friendly. The location is great and close by to some of our favorite beaches in West Maui.

We loved the condo. It was located directly on the ocean with a beautiful view just steps away. We saw whales in the distance and many sea turtles. It was also nice to have beach chairs and two beach towels available for our use. Thank you!!!

Perfect For a Couple!

This place was perfect size for my fiancé and I! You do have to drive or walk a fair distance for any beach but that didn’t bother us as we had a rental car. Wendy was very speedy and prompt when I had questions. & We enjoyed our stay!

Great location

The Hale Ona Loa has fabulous grounds. We enjoy watching the whales each morning on the raised sundeck. The condo was small but the price was great. It had all the beach gear that was needed.

Springtime on Maui

Anniversary Trip Paradise

We loved staying here. We snuck away from the kids for our 20th anniversary. Loved hearing the waves crashing at night. Loved the location close to all our favorite beaches. Loved the patio closet full of beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkel gear. Wendy is so prompt in communication and helpful. Amazing weekend!

The house was clean, has the ocean access, nice view and pool next to condo. We really enjoyed being there. Kids loved the swimming pool and the turtle on the ocean viewing from the balcony. My wife loved the fresh flower when we entered the condo. Definitely recommend to a friend.

Wonderful time in Paradise.

Nice property in a good location. Accommodations are all you need. When you are surrounded by so much beauty you want to see, we actually did not spend much time in the condo. The pool area has been upgraded recently, beautiful flowers and grills available for use. Large lania which overlooks the water with great views of the neighboring islands.

This property met all our needs. Full kitchen so we didn't need to eat out all the time. Even though there is no a/c the direction the room faces allows a wonderful breeze to blow through and we didn't even miss it. The room had a great location with view overlooking the pool. Very close to Kaanapali beaches. I would definitely stay here again.

Great, quiet location.

This was a very nice and clean property. It was just out of the way enough to be peaceful and feel private, but within a short drive to a cute town with lots of tours and dining/shopping. We loved the view and sitting out on the patio. The pool and complex were very quiet, which is just what we needed on our vacation. The breeze through the condo was fantastic and we were always comfortable. Parking was close, check in was super easy and Wendy was very nice. This was our first VRBO experience and we are so happy that we chose this condo over the big, busy, loud resorts. We hope to return! (Thank you Wendy!)

What a wonderful experience! Our experience was consistent with everyone else’s reviews, which was that it was everything and more. Wendy was so easy to work with and communicate to prior and after our visit. She had everything you needed at her place. Being right next to the pool and so close to the sound of the waves made this such a dreamy location! The only thing to consider is that if you’re eating in Wailea, this can be quite a distance to drive. However it’s perfect for playing an Kaanapali and Lahaina! Thanks again for an amazing stay Wendy!!

Lovely spot by the water

Wendy was very responsive and kind. The property itself is in a lovely location near the farmers market, fish market and two local beaches that we enjoyed. Access to the pool is a little annoying - it’s right there but you have to go all the way around to get to it. The pillows for the bed could also use a replacement. We also didn’t find any beach stuff (chairs, snorkels, etc.) in the place, which would have been a nice touch for us out of towners. Otherwise, solid spot with gorgeous sunset views and a lovely patio. Thanks for a wonderful stay, Wendy!

Excellent Value!

We have been to Maui about 6 or 7 times. This place is an excellent value! It is a one bedroom with a very nicely appointed kitchen. The bathroom was a little small, but it is an older property. The internet and cable tv was awesome. They have lots of "toys" which we used. Coolers, chairs, etc. Overall you cannot get a better value in Maui. It is not a 5 star resort. (It is an older condo property on the sea wall.) But it was very well appointed and very clean. We never saw one bug which is something for "island living". When we arrived we poured a glass of wine and walked out to the community patio. Saw numerous whales breaching and tail slapping. Welcome to Maui! Would we come back to Weneki? Absolutely! And the owners are great. They communicated with us and were very helpful.

Comfortable, affordable, lovely

My husband and I have spent a month in this condo and have been so pleased with the condo (comfortable bed, good TV, small but serviceable kitchen and bathroom, lovely lanai), the location (close to small commercial area and beach), and the pool and observation deck. Although it does not have a direct view of the ocean (you can hear it, however), the pool and garden view is lovely. The condo is in an older complex, quiet with friendly people (you meet them at the new bbq grills), with beautiful grounds that are carefully tended. We have enjoyed the pool which is always clean and the observation deck for sunning, watching whales and turtles, and enjoying the spectacular sunsets. We have explored more than a dozen beaches ( fantastic), the Road to Hana (don't go if you get carsick), and the trip up the volcano. Our only complaint is the HIGH cost of food so we recommend shopping at Costco (so we hear) or Safeway before you arrive. There is a fun pizza guy in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center and some reasonable take-out in a local deli. Wendy has stocked the outdoor closet with everything you need for the beach and pool including chairs, floats, snorkel sets, beach towels. She is extraordinarily responsive to questions and is obviously concerned with the happiness of her guests. I appreciated that! I highly recommend this cozy condo and should we return to Maui, we would certainly stay here again.

I really liked this condo, my stay was very enjoyable. The location of this condo within the complex is very convenient. It's close to the pool, parking lot and trash disposal. The property itself is very nice, super clean, and very, very quiet. The pool area is nice also, most of the time I had the pool to myself. The condo is very clean, and comfortable. The bed is comfy and although I didn't cook, the kitchen had everything you would need to do so. I only have one small critique, I wish there would have wine glasses, felt weird drinking wine out of a water glass. But I survived!!

We had such a great stay! The apartment was just what we needed. It had no AC so it was a little hot at night but the fans and windows open worked fine. The view of the ocean and the sea turtles were fantastic!

Wonderful place to stay!

We had a wonderful almost 2 week stay here! It was the perfect size for two people and was equipped with everything we needed for the beach (chairs, umbrellas, mats, etc.), cooking and barbecuing, and for a comfortable stay. The location was great - close to many good beaches, groceries, places to eat, and we could easily drive to other places on the island. The complex felt safe, peaceful, well kept, and quiet. We were never too hot since there are 2 ceiling fans and both doors and some vents can be opened to let the breeze through. The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice. Great view from the dining table or patio, and you can go to the upper deck above the pool for a great view of the sunset and whale watching. The communication was very clear and the check-in/out process was simple. We would definitely stay here again!

Terry operates a crane company known locally as Terry's Crane & Rigging, and Wendy does all the behind-the-scenes book work for the business. In addition to this, they have also raised a family of 2 girls and 1 boy, and are now proud grandparents of 3 grandchildren! They enjoy travelling, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and running their business.

Why they chose this property

Terry and Wendy Hibbs grew up in the small mountain town of Salida, Colorado. Their first visit to Hawaii was on their honeymoon, and they've been coming back ever since. Their dream of owning property on Maui was finally realized in 2009 when they bought their personal condo at the Hale Ono Loa complex. They fell in love with the location and the community, and in 2013 undertook the venture of purchasing another condo as a vacation rental property. They are still currently living in Salida, but whenever they want to escape the wintry mountains of Colorado, they can be found on Maui, enjoying their own little piece of island paradise!

What makes this property unique

The Hale Ono Loa complex first grabbed Terry & Wendy's eye on one of their vacation trips to Maui with their family. It was located in such a quaint, quiet little area, it gave them the feeling of home. The beautiful ocean view and the gentle crashing of the waves on the shore contributed to the serene, peaceful escape they sought when visiting Hawaii. The convenient location of the property to multiple beaches, various local amenities, and the island town of Lahaina sealed the deal for them, and is what makes this property so ideal for everyone's dream island vacation!
