A Latin hexameter on the walls of the Archiepiscopal Chapel reminds us of its splendour: "Aut lux hic nata est aut capta hic libera regnat", which in translation means "Either light was born here or, if imprisoned here, it reigns free". Today, this ancient art form is perpetuated thanks to the activity of schools, workshops and numerous events spread throughout the year, such as the biennial RavennaMosaico, the First International Festival of Contemporary Mosaic.
