About this property

Charming Garden Cottage Close To The City Center, Health District & Wynwood

This house celebrates and embraces the wonderful diversity of this great country. We welcome with arms stretched wide, our brothers and sisters of all races, creeds and sexual orientation. Together we will not build walls but a magnificent future for our children and future generations.

Our delightful cottage sits in the middle of a beautiful garden just minutes away from the city center. Located in a quiet historic district close to Brickell, the Health District, the Grove ,Wynwood and 8 minutes away from South Beach. The cottage has a queen bed, a sitting area,, TV (Direct TV), and a large closet. We have a comfortable kitchen and a great and irresistibly romantic area for al fresco dining. Public transportation is close by- metro rail, buses and trolley- . You can also bicycle to Downtown, Wynwood, the Health District and even the Grove. Rental bicycles can be found at the Publix supermarket by the river. Sewell park is close by and provides a beautiful experience of the Miami River. We have a deep love for the property and have enjoyed living among the flowers, the birds, the lizards, the cats and our huge mango tree (very Miami) while at the same time being so close to the Arsht center, the PAMM, and Rosa de La Cruz, Rubell and Margulies art collections. For baseball fans, we are located half a block away from the ball park. We also go to the Tower theatre a delightful space that screens wonderful movies.
We have a very green street with a beautiful canopy. Grove Park has been federally designated historical and we are very proud of our neighborhood. It is quiet, peaceful, friendly and safe. Easy access to 836 East and West, 395 ( Miami Beach) I-95 North and South. We have a couple of restaurants which are colorful and good, and a great gym by the UM medical center across the bridge on the other side of the river.
Our check in time is 2PM and thereafter and our check out is 10 AM.

Lovely cottage in the middle of Miami

We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean and inviting. There was coffee and granola, so we didn't have to shop our first night. Everything was very comfortable and our hostess was very helpful.

A real great place to stay

The property is like an oasis in the middle of a city. It is very centrally located with easy access to the freeway so getting around is not a problem. This property really felt like a home away from home and my significant other loved it (from the garden to the decor). The hospitality of the hostess is second to none. We would definitely stay here again.

Great Cute Cottage

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Everything I needed was available as well as great recommendations for places to go when I needed them. The lush garden was viewable through many nice windows I could open to view the tropical atmosphere or screen for privacy. I enjoyed hearing about the city from a knowledgeable and warm host.

First Time in Miami

Inez's cottage was delightful and so much more than I expected. The location was perfect to main street Little Havana where we spent most of our time. The cottage is very clean and well supplied. Ines found my glasses after we left and promptly mailed them to me at my next location. Thank You for a wonderful stay.

The cottage and home of Ines Cortez is the perfect destination for any traveler(s) hoping to get a slice of quiet, hospitable, and exceptionally tropical Miami in a perfect location. Close to everything yet secluded enough to offer peaceful solitude. Ines is the perfect host, offering breakfast, suggestions and so much more! A destination you would not regret.

Exceptional place to stay!

Ines is a wonderful and delightful host. She was beyond accommodating and informative about the area. Everyplace that she recommended was absolutely great! The cottage was comfortable, clean, very spacious awesomely decorated, and surrounded by a great garden of trees, plants and even iguanas. The bathroom worked great with plenty of hot water and the kitchen was stocked with tea, coffee, granola, milk and water and offers all the amenities to cook. The location is close to the airport, highway and little Havana.

Charming!

My husband and I stayed at Ines' for one night because we were going to a baseball game at Marlin's Park. We chose the place for proximity (only a 1/2 block from the ball park), but it would have been a wonderful stay for any reason. The cottage is charming, romantic, and well stocked, and Ines' is a wealth of information about the local area and the best restaurants. We look forward to coming back again sometime to enjoy Miami Spice!

Relaxing and Peaceful

We enjoyed our stay very much. The cottage is well maintained and the gardens were relaxing and peaceful. The owner was a delight! Upon our arrival she offered to let us accompany her to the grocery store. She was always attentive to our needs and very responsive to our calls and texts. She provided several sight seeing recommendations which we enjoyed. Since we had no car she encouraged us to try Uber which we found to be a great way to get around.

Braves ⚾️ Marlins Baseball

Great place to stay if you like Baseball. The stadium is a dome with great AC. Marlins Stadium is only 2 blocks away and is a very nice walk. It is a short drive to visit Little Havana. Ines Cortez is one of the best and nicest property owners I’ve every dealt with. She makes you a great breakfast and will tell you all the great restaurants and sightseeing places in Miami. You will enjoy your stay. Alexander Craver from Jacksonville Fl.

Charming backyard cottage

This is a charming little backyard "cottage" surrounded by the owner's lovingly tended gardens. It's in a central and generally quiet location making it easy to get to different parts of the city; is also not far from the airport. We had a comfortable stay here for over a week while we explored Miami using ride shares. The owner, Ines, is a warm and attentive hostess, and provided lots of information about interests we expressed: food, music, art, transportation, etc. We enjoyed several backyard conversations with her, and she made sure we had whatever we needed. Highly recommended!

Baseball Paradise

Paradise is one block from Loan Depot Ballpark where the Miami Marlins play. I come down with a friend every year to watch the Braves play the Marlins. You can see the stadium from the front of the house. It’s a short walk and you are inside the air conditioned ballpark to watch Major League Baseball. We stay in the Bungalow/Wild Rose behind the house which has a kitchen. Breakfast is provided everyday and delivered to you door. Great place to stay for you baseball fans or to visit Little Havana!!

A Wonderful stay at the Wild Wild Rose

The Wild Wild Rose is two blocks from Marlins Park! Dan and I went to see the Braves and Marlins play two times. There is nothing like walking across the street to the game and having a short walk home after the game. We are Braves fans from Jacksonville Florida and we really had a great time and the Braves won both games. We spent one day in Little Havana and exploring Miami. Ines served us a breakfast platter with the best banana bread in town. Docs Provisions was our favorite Restaurant. Ines Cortes is the best B&B hostess ever! A must stay if you are a baseball fan! Idyllic cottage within walking distance to Calle Ocho

I stayed here for 10 days for a work trip and it was perfect for this. Ines was very helpful form the start, always giving me comprehensive info to my many queries in advance and during my stay. The cottage is in a lovely garden which is very pleasant to sit in, and is scrupulously clean throughout with a very comfy bed and linens. Calle Ocho is about a 1 1/2 mile walk away and is a great way to see the neighbourhood--also Calle Ocho has wonderful Cuban restaurants and cafes--I went there for dinner several times. I travelled without a car and used a bike and Uber (on Ines' suggestion) to get around--both worked very well. There is a Walgreen's 2 blocks away and a Winn Dixie 20 minutes' walk away. The proximity to the stadium shouldn't worry non-sports fans, as even during a game the area was relatively quiet. Ines is a wonderful host, completely helpful and informative and can fill you in on any aspect of the city you wish to learn about.

A Little Oasis

One of the best small cottages you will find anywhere. Tucked away in the lush garden behind the main house, this a peaceful and visually interesting property. We were met at the gate by Carlitos, a friendly and welcoming cat who kept us company outside and entertained. Ines, owner, is a lovely woman and we couldn't ask for any more kindness and care for our comfort. We loved the information and notes left around the cottage. Always helpful to know the workings of an unfamiliar shower, etc. The kitchen had what we needed - microwave, fridge, dishes, pots, coffee maker and coffee, tea, granola and yogurt, juice and milk. The bed was comfortable. The chairs were a great place to sit and chat or watch TV. Books, lots of books on the shelves. Ines used one of the guides to help us plan a day out and about in the Miami area. We highly recommend Little Havana as a little oasis in a big city.

Urban oasis close to all...

In April my wife and I made our first trip to see Miami. Arriving by car, we did not have a preferred area of the city to stay in...we wanted to see various parts. The cottage is an older leafy neighborhood, tucked in between one of the highways and the Marlins stadium, in an area of stuccoed Mediterranean houses once far more prevalent in Miami. After you learn the one-way streets and freeway ramps (easy), you discover that the cottage offers close access to the arts district, the downtown marinas, the PAMM art center, South Beach, Vizcaya, Little Havana, etc. just as advertised. Ines will help out-of-towners with navigation and parking issues, which were pretty minor for a couple of New Yorkers, but might be an bigger problem if you're used to ample, free parking everywhere you go. Before we even arrived, Ines sent me a tip about which toll pass to get from the drug store for Miami's toll roads... very helpful! The cottage itself is modest but has been thoughtfully equipped with everything a traveler might need or want, plus it has the kind of artistic flair and sparkle that makes it an inviting place to spend time when not touring. We were easily able to make our own breakfast each morning (which we prefer) and one night we decided to dine in with wine and take-out at one of the outdoor tables in the garden. Delightful! You don't always get that option, especially in the middle of a city. Throughout our 3-night stay, Ines was attentive to our needs, helpful with answers, and respectful of our privacy. We could not have asked for a better hostess!

About the host

Hosted by Ines Cortes

Host profile image
I love nature, beautiful things, kindness, intelligence, generosity, a sense of humor creativity and honor. I love good architecture, kayaking, horses and my cat, Clinton. I also love my dog Koko but I have to confess a weakness for Clinton. The both of them are so sweet and funny. I am a World Music aficionado with a particular interest in African pop. I enjoy traveling and in particular I am crazy about India. I want to visit Turkey, Burma, Turkistan and Prague and will do so soon.

Why they chose this property

Our home was built in 1926. It has the original pine wood floors, doors, handles, crown moldings and windows. I love the music the windows make when you open a close them. The mango tree is majestic even though it lost half its crown in a hurricane prior to 2002. The fruit is delicious and plentiful. It reminds me of places back home where music is played under a big tree and there is always plenty of food and drink for everyone. I have planted a lot of greenery in the property. Kind of hit and miss but I have a sabal palm that is to die for - It makes up for all the ones that did not make it. We have a front porch that overlooks the street and it is shady and delicious during late afternoons.

What makes this property unique

When I first saw this house I knew I belonged to it. The way the house sat on the lot was gracious and light. Every detail from the exquisite cracked tile in the front porch to the glass handles and the keys to the rooms enamored me. Living in a city that has a fancy for anything that is shiny and new, I realized I had found a piece of Miami's history and I wanted to preserve it.
