Wish I could give a better review. I reached out to the host 3 times after booking for check in details, 1 time after booking, same day of check in 4 pm and when I was at the gate to access the property. Zero response. I wouldn’t even look at this as an option as a place to stay.
We had a wonderful time here. It was secluded and the grounds were amazing. The owners were very hospitable and welcoming. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone who wants special attention.

Thank you very much for your review, you will always be welcome!!
The property itself is really nice. Free internet washing dryer was a big help. It was very cosy and quiet which is what was important to me. Mickey was very communicative and helpful during the entire process. I can't recommend enough staying here. Thank tou for everything!

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
Poor communication
Days before stay I received a notification that they were overbooked - they offered another cabin and some activities to compensate. Accepted that offer. Never received any fun activities and feel that I overpaid for a way smaller cabin than I originally reserved.
We came to the area for a family wedding and i had no idea all the available activites that were available on the property. Even i had this trip, we were consumed that weekend with the wedding at another venue. We are planning to return to the area in the summer with grandchildren to experience all they have to offer, please do your research to all the opportunities! The cabin was immaculate and newly remodeled. Only concern was that it wasnt the cabin i thought we would be staying in so be sure! Micky was easy to get ahold of and came straight over to replace a battery in the fire alarm and was so helpful in sharing places to eat dinner at the evening before the wedding :) Definitely will go again.

The porch area is not as advertised.
We were looking forward to a relaxing outdoor experience at the house. The porch area was unclean and cluttered with furniture like it was being stored. There are visible wires connecting lights in the grill area. The porch railing lights did not work. There were cords on the floor connecting coffee table water fountain and carpet was not clean. A couple of the kitchen cabinets had issues with the hinges when opened. The kitchen was advertised as state of the art and fully equipped but we could not even find measuring cups or spoons. There were no hair dryers in the bathrooms as advertised. We only rented the main part and there were renters in the adjoining cabin that were very close. This was not expected and is more like a hotel room feel. We were a little disappointed but the property owner was very nice when we met him.

First a message to any potential guest: Please read all our response & other recent reviews to see what we are really like.
To these reviewers: We are sorry you never informed us there was anything wrong. You know our staff is on the ranch 24/7 to immediately address any of our guests' concerns and your welcome letter provided all our phone numbers - yet you never called to give us a chance to serve you.
If you had, you would have found your misperceptions unfounded:
- Kitchen Supplies: I am a Cordon Blue Chef - so we can provide anything you need. If you had looked in your kitchen closet and/ or in your Cowboy Kitchen, you would have found all the basics for weekend cooking, and we can provide anything else out of our supplies, with just a simple request.
- Hair dryer: Always kept in the main bathroom & was there when you stayed with us .
- What you call "the porch area" is actually a 3,500 ft. open deck surrounded by forest with trees growing through the deck, cleaned thoroughly before each guest's arrival - but we cannot control trees shedding and a few leaves getting blown on it during the Fall.
- Stored furniture - You are referring to the 10 folding chairs kept out of the way in a corner of the deck, on hand in case guests need more sitting. No one ever complained, and most appreciate the thoughtfulness. But we would have removed them if we had known they bothered you.
- Visible wires connecting lights in the grill area = 1 spotlight for extra strong lighting over the grill - the only "wire" was the one plugged into the outlet.
- The porch railing lights did definitely work - you just didn't turn them on.
- Cords on the floor connecting coffee table water fountain: Again, the cable which makes the fountain work run underneath the couch. No one has ever had issue before.
- The carpet was definitely clean and there were no neighbors close by!
Since you never gave a hint of any of displeasure when we saw you here, but then left your piles of nasty garbage plus this unfair "review", it is obvious you have some personal ax to grind with us, and have chosen this arena to try to discredit us. I can't imagine why.

Stunning home nestled on beautiful, peaceful ranch
I really prefer not to give a review rate based on the star system because I feel this is too generic. Were there things that were fabulous, yes, were there things that need improvement, of course, but for anyone who travels, such is the case no matter where you stay. I would however like to point out some of the highlights. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, and all the animals are wonderful and so much fun. The garden sunken tub in the master bedroom feels like Heaven. The home is spotless and articulately decorated with so many interesting things to enjoy. Unfortunately, we were unable to try any of the dinner meals, but breakfast is to die for, like having a 4 course gourmet meal for breakfast each day! You feel like a king or a queen, I can only imagine what their dinners are like! I will give 5 stars In reference to our hosts, Mickey and Vickey, they are very sweet and very personable. It is impossible to leave without feeling like you are part of their family. Get ready, they Will shower you with love. For me, what was most impressive is their ability to weather any storm both literally (it rained each day we were there) and symbolically. It is quite easy to be a great host when everything is going right, but Mickey and vickey are very gracious even under unexpected circumstances, and will bend over backwards to ensure their guests are happy. We wish for them to continue to grow and be successful in all things and that God will bless them in the way that only He can.

We are really moved by your kind words. Thank you very much for an amazing review. We look forward to seeing you soon. We love you.
This place is just absolutely beautiful. If you love animals, this is the place to go. They are everywhere and very friendly. The owners were very nice and helpful. The cabin was just what we were looking for a getaway. The ranch is in very close to Boerne and a couple of vineyards. We will definitely come back.
Vicky and Mickey are the BEST! What a beautiful location to enjoy the family with friendly animals, nature and extraordinary kindness. Having stayed at many commercial resorts, Home away from Home beats any of them with their extreme genuine attention given to each guest to make sure they are happy. The activities are a must... whether it is horseback riding, shooting, or a night hike, you will walk away more confident in your new abilities and talents thanks to Mickey. The meals are Delicious! Vicky can take you around the world with her knowledge of different countries and their relationship with food. The ingredients are natural and healthy to make a wonderful pairing of dishes! We cannot wait to visit again! Thank You Mickey and Vicky...you truly have created a masterpiece!
I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Home Away Ranch. Micky and Vicky were amazing hosts and super helpful throughout the planning process. The house was gorgeous and set on an amazing 30-acre ranch with all assortments of friendly animals. I recommend doing every activity that is offered on the ranch, they are all wildly educational and fun due to Mickys amazing personality. Horse riding is a must, especially for beginners. Overall, it was one of the best vacations I have taken with my family, and fun for all ages. Although it may initially seem on the more expensive side, it is well, well worth it. Thank you Micky and Vicky for an amazing time!
This was an excellent getaway. The house was perfect for us. The girls Loved all of the farm animals Especially Billy Bob the goat all of the donkeys and of course, Hantzel and Gretel the Catahoulas. We can't Wait to visit y'all again in October. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience the girls cannot wait to come back and ride horses again. See you soon
Down the road (literally...) from Luckenbach and a million miles from "the grind" for adults and kids alike. Get back to what matters most in life - or perhaps enjoy experiencing it for the first time...
Our stay has undoubtedly made lifetime memories. Imagine seeing your kid willing to drop the iPad in a heartbeat (and you...drop the cell phone - NOW) to go outside when friendly donkeys and goats stop by to say hello. Walk amongst the rustic Hill Country landscape. Maybe watch Axis deer walk along the treeline.
Can't sit still (yet)? OK, well that's probably why you need to be here. No need to go far. A few minutes puts you right into quaint downtown Boerne - in my humble opinion, way better than Fredericksburg. Sit under a nice shady tree and feed the ducks and turtles in Cibolo Creek on River Road. Grab a yummy shaved ice or a cold local brew right there by the creek. Go play in the Guadalupe River just a few minutes up the road - ask Vicky about a great local spot. No frills, no fleets of inner tubes with beer coolers in tow. Take Micky's advice on an excellent nearby BBQ joint. It's maybe a mile or less from Vicky's river recommendation. So is a local winery.
Forget the agenda. Discover "laid back". It's awesome.
Want a real tip? Eat and drink like royalty...just talk to Vicky. To use my Maine vocabulary, everything from breakfast to dinner to cocktails..."wicked good"!
Looking for more of a central location for day trips? OK. Luckenbach and countless vineyards (as well as Deep Eddy Vodka) are not far away. Head down into San Antonio or over to Natural Bridge Caverns and more in the nearby New Braunfels area. Quaint little Comfort is just up the road. Not too far away is Fredericksburg, with a nice drive out 965 to Enchanted Rock.
Or just pretty much stay right at home with Micky and Vicky and their critter-ly crowd. They're furry, they're funny - and while they may oink, peep, neigh and such, they'll never honk their horn or cut you off at a traffic light. Countless pictures and countless memories for my daughter. Memories almost sure to choke you up every time you relive them. I'm already trying to figure out the next time to go back...
I enjoyed the serenity of the Ranch, speaking with Miguel and Victoria and watching the Baby Goats! The "Tree House" is comfortable, and met my needs for the weekend. Also very close proximity to downtown Boerne, as well as other destinations in the Hill Country. I hope to stay there again~
Vicky and Miguel were absolutely wonderful hosts. They went out of their way to make sure that my family had a wonderful weekend. My daughter is little, but they made sure she had fun and felt safe with the much bigger animals. The food was amazing and we miss it already! We hope to visit here again the next chance we get.
The owners of this wonderful property are very attentive and communicate well from start to finish. Mickey was very responsive to our needs, even though Victoria had taken ill that weekend and spent most of Saturday at the doctor. We stayed in the Main Cabin and it was perfect as a gathering place one evening for another family we had come to visit in Sisterdale joining us for dinner. The “great room” and large kitchen with an island table was perfect for a fun dinner party.
The best part of this VRBO is the property...rolling hills and scrub oaks with lots of wandering animals...goats, sheep, etc....and horses in the nearby fenced in area. We got the impression that the owners are fairly new to operating as a vacation rental, but they learn fast and will accommodate your needs if anything is missing or unexpected.
We plan to come back sometime as a family and take advantage of the horseback riding, and look forward to having the hosts prepare one of their world-class meals for us!!
Teresa the housekeeper was absolutely wonderful anything we asked for we got!!! She was a big help with EVERYTHING.
The owners are amazing and was so sweet. The kids LOVED the horse lessons. Love all the animals. We will be back very soon. We all had a blast.
