Welcome to Villa Catanho, a family owned villa, located in a traditional grape vine and banana plantation. A beautiful heritage of my beloved grandparents, Adelino Catanho Silva and Conceição Pereira Catanho.
Featuring views over the Atlantic Ocean, Villa Catanho offers accommodation with barbecue facilities, about 1 km from city center and 950 meters from the beach. Guests can enjoy free WiFi. The house is fully furnished and equipped. Ideal for that perfect self-catering holiday. This holiday home features 3 bedrooms, a satellite flat-screen TV, a kitchen with a dining area, and a living room. The property also has a common bathroom and an en suite bathroom. There is a spacious garden where guests can also relax.
It was in homage to our grandparents that we decided to maintain the plantation and build the villa.
Villa Catanho has been in the family since 1977. They worked the land, that is, they grew bananas and grapes and produced wine.
Villa Catanho is located in the parish of Santa, which is a great choice for travelers interested in hiking, great food, relaxation and / or mingling with the locals in the city center, in the Farmer´s Market or / and along the promenade by the seaside.
The villa is within walking distance of some special attractions: Farmer´s Market (1 km), the Old Town, Madeira Story Center (museum) (1 km), Funchal Cathedral (1.1 km), The Madeira cable car (1 . 1 km), Madeira Botanical Garden (900 m), just to mention a few.

Huisje op goede locatie

Prachtig uitzicht. Op goede loopafstand van centrum mits goed ter been. Erg steil allemaal. Keuken inventaris is miniem en spinnenwebben in de keukenkastjes. Verder goed te doen.

Touch the earth - on a Quinta in the heart of Funchal

House well designed, built, maintained, and equipped - very pleasant atmosphere. Electric heater in each room, needed only occasionally in late January. Long south-facing balcony with nice view down to the ocean. Washing machine, cleverly positioned clothesline on balcony, and drying rack easily took care of laundry for 5 adults. On-property parking spot directly in front of house. Bordered by charming ornamental plants and bushes, some flowering, and some, like the laurels, with interesting foliage. Yard directly east of the house is a raised grassy lounging area. Great view and, at the far side, a really fine outdoor kitchen - traditional Portuguese brick BBQ (charcoal or wood) flanked by sink with running water and counters for food prep, plus lights and electrical outlet. To the south is a banana grove, to the north a mixed fruit / veggie garden, all still on this property. Bananas not yet ripe, but we enjoyed some collards and a tasty papaya. This property is on the Quinta da Boa Vista. Also on this quinta - friendly neighbour with big veggie garden and small herd of goats, the Quinta da Boa Vista orchid farm, and other properties. It's only a few steps to a great padaria, a small but well-stocked grocery, and stops for Horarios de Funchal #32 bus to downtown. Adelino and family were very hospitable and easy to contact. All 5 adults in our group had a wonderful time here. It was a privilege to experience Funchal and Madeira from the perspective of this

Spotless, spacious and special

We loved our two weeks in Adelino and family’s villa. . It’s just 10 minutes walk to the centre of town. The walk back is a challenge but no problem at all and you could get the 32 bus all the way to the neighbouring bakery for less than €2. It’s maintained superbly .
