River View Cottage is a traditional croft cottage stone built in circa 1910 and retains all its original charm on the outside but has been internally modernised. The cottage is detached and sits in a rural elevated setting, with lovely views over the meandering river Snizort. Situated only 5 miles from the principle town of Portree, and a 10 minute drive to the Western Isles ferry terminal, the cottage is ideally located for touring around the island. With modern furnishings throughout, a cosy livingroom, fully equipped kitchen (with dining table), wetroom with walk in shower. Two double and one single bedrooms. Private garden with large parking area. Linen and towels provided.

Beautiful, clean and cosy cottage.

We loved our stay in this gorgeous little cottage. Cosy, well equipped and spotlessly clean. It was a great location for exploring the island and views were stunning.

Lovely stay at River View Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at River View Cottage. The weather was variable, and on rainy mornings I especially loved sitting with my tea and watching the sheep across the river.

Lovely cottage in central location

The cottage was very clean and well equipped, with a great scenic view. The location is nice and central for exploring Skye and within 10 mins drive from a supermarket.

Lovely cottage in excellent location

The cottage was in an excellent location just a short 10 minute drive outside Portree. It was clean, warm, welcoming and well equipped. Communication with the owners was quick and easy as was the check in. We would happily return here.

Great stay. Fantastic house in a perfect, central location to explore the Isle of Skye. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials to prepare meals. There are two coffee presses which are a nice alternative to the instant coffee at the hotels. Overall great experience!

Beautiful house in a quiet, relaxing setting

This house was perfect. All of the rooms were a great size, the beds were comfortable and the decor was lovely. The kitchen was very well stocked with pots, pans, etc. We were welcomed on arrival with a selection of teas, local brews, and cookies. The owners are very hospitable and we would stay here again for sure!

Lovely Cottage

We had a lively time at the River View Cottage. The host was easy to communicate with and made sure we were comfortable during out stay. The cottage was well appointed and we loved to 10 minute commute to Portree. This cottage is located within 30mins of most of the major attractions on Skye.

Wonderful country cottage

This traditional stone cottage is fullt renovated with all modern conveniences while keeping its cozy cottage feel. The location was perfect! In the country but 6 minutes drive to Portree. It is immaculate and loved the electric fireplace on chilly evenings.

I’ve enjoyed your lovely property it was a pleasure to stay in, we had everything that was needed and it was beautiful and clean. The location was great close run to Portree and easy travel to other locations we were interested in. The views were spectacular we will highly recommend this venue for other stays. Cozy Country Home

Sometimes it’s good to get away from crowded towns and throngs of tourists - this is the place! Situated a short drive north of Portree we enjoyed the countryside landscape, the sound of sheep, and the fresh country air. There were some very nice restaurants close by and a Co-Op grocery store about 10 minutes away. All-in-all we had a wonderful stay.

Cozy and quiet

Comfortable bed with nice bed linen. We found the address a bit confusing to find. Easy parking, although the turn into driveway is tight in one direction. Lovely view. Not far from Portree. Biscuits were nice but would have preferred real milk instead of sachets that were provided. Host was responsive.

Fabulous cottage in a great location

My husband, daughter, and I loved our stay at River View Cottage. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had everything we needed. There were even shortbread cookies and local beers waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage is about 5 miles from Portree, and was easy to find with the directions we received from Agnes ahead of time. The rooms are all a good size, and the two upstairs bedrooms have quaint skylight-type windows that look out over the river across the road. We loved every minute of our stay and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Scenic setting on stunning Skye

My husband and I loved our stay at River View Cottage, situated out of town but within easy reach of Portree by car. The cottage was welcoming, comfortable and spacious, with beautiful views out over the river. Our hosts Agnes, John and Mairi, were excellent in communicating with us, providing clear directions, and leaving special little touches which made the stay even more enjoyable. The Isle of Skye is stunning. We saw a remarkable amount in just two days, walking to spots that took our breath away.

Clean and as described. Second floor gets hot when the sun is out (even with fan)--suggest a blind for the skylight over the stairs. Stairs are narrow and steep and no bathroom on 2nd floor, so may not be appropriate for young children.

Excellent out of main town of Portree cottage

The cottage just out of Portree was an excellent home base for our family of four for three days on the Isle of Skye. The kitchen was very well-equipped and bedrooms were roomy. The shower was a little unusual but there were very good instructions on how to use it, so no issues with that at all. Ample parking. Agnes was great with communication and there were some cookies, coffee, tea and hot chocolate for us - which we enjoyed! We had a slight issue finding the place from the GPS directions were were given, but didn't take too long to find the right location. We had no problems at all with our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

Agnes and John were always quick to reply to each message, and very helpful when we needed support. The house is one of the cleanest we’ve ever had and the view is postcard perfect! Great window to look out when at home. We definitely recommend this property and them.Pls note, as Skye is very damp, there is some dampness to adapt to. But the heating and shower worked great! And line drying clothes on a windy Scottish day is something I recommend to everyone at least once!

Very clean, kitchen sufficient, simple without a dish washer. Good location to explore Skye. Heating worked in the morning and evening. We needed to put the heater on, it was cold and wet. Clothing needed to dry due to heavy rain. Shower was clinical and with shower curtain. Bed linnen was clean. Upstairs, the ceilings are very low!! People taller than 1.90m will have issues. Nice views.

Great property. Clean, affordable, good parking. I give it a 98%. 1 point off for not having a small clothes dryer, and 1 point off for the tiny shower (clingy shower curtain made it hard to shower) but we adapted and made do. Otherwise, a great place.
