About the host
Hosted by Stephanie Prince
We’re Steph and Oli, and we live here on the Isle of Skye with our two dogs. We moved to Skye because we wanted a life closer to nature, wild landscapes, and a slower, more intentional way of living, and we’ve never looked back.
Before moving here, we both worked in conservation and environmental science, including time spent on remote sub-Antarctic islands. That background really shaped how we live now: we care deeply about the natural world, and love sharing places that feel special rather than over-touristed.
We’re outdoorsy people at heart and spend our free time hiking, sea swimming, wildlife watching, and exploring quiet corners of the island. We also love good food, cosy evenings, and the simple joy of coming home muddy and tired after a day outside.
As hosts, we want guests to feel comfortable, relaxed, and genuinely welcome - not like they’re staying in a generic holiday let. We’ve put a lot of care into creating a space that feels calm, thoughtful, and well-equipped, whether you’re here for adventure, rest, or a bit of both. We’re always happy to share local tips if you want them, but we also fully respect your privacy and space.

Why they chose this property
This is one of our favourite parts of Skye - quiet, open, and beautifully wild, without feeling isolated. It offers that rare balance of peace and space, while still being well-placed for exploring the island. We're only 10-minutes drive from the main town of Portree, but also only 25 minutes to the Quiraing and 10 minutes to the Fairy Glen.
What we love most about this area is the sense of calm from being by the ocean. You’re surrounded by big skies, changing light, and open land, with views that constantly shift with the weather. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down without trying - whether that’s having a coffee outside in the morning, watching birds on the shoreline, or simply enjoying the silence in the evening.
From here, you can easily reach Skye’s iconic landscapes - mountains, coastlines, lochs, and walking routes - but you can also just stay put and enjoy being away from crowds. It’s a brilliant base for people who love the outdoors, photography, wildlife, or simply want to experience a quieter, more authentic side of the island.

What makes this property unique
The cottage has been designed as a calm, self-contained retreat rather than a typical holiday rental. It’s sits next to our home, but completely private, with its own entrance, giving you independence while still feeling looked after.
What makes it special is the attention to detail and the atmosphere - it’s bright, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out, with quality scandinavian inspired furnishings and practical touches that make longer stays easy. It’s a space where you can properly unwind after a day exploring, whether that means cooking a relaxed meal, curling up with a book, playing one of our board games, or just enjoying the quiet.
The setting is a huge part of its uniqueness too: ocean views, fresh air, and a strong connection to the landscape right outside your door. We’ve intentionally kept things simple, cosy, and uncluttered, so the focus stays on rest, comfort, and the incredible surroundings.
It’s ideal for guests who value nature, calm, and quality over gimmicks - a place to land, breathe, and feel at home while exploring Skye.
