Badia Vecchia Apartment

English-style mansion built in 1939 by the rich old owner Sir. Robert Pretty Barlow, admirer of beauty and good living. A precursor of modern gay culture, he hosted writers, painters and illustrious travelers. He himself a traveler, helped to make Taormina known to many of his countrymen and others.
The apartment is located on the first floor of the house in a very central and panoramic position, overlooking the Etna, the Bay of Giardini Naxos and the Badia Vecchia, one of the most significant monuments of the city.

The location of the property was excellent just a couple of minutes walk onto the main street. We were met by tge host who gave us some recommendations of where to eat and booked a restaurant for us. The apartment was comfortable and we loved staying there.

This place was perfect. Super clean, cute, with amazing views. Host (Furio) was amazing (restaurant recommendations, use of his private beach club membership, etc.). Would deforest recommend for one or two couples.

Furio and Paola are the very best hosts! The house is situated in easy walking distance to the Corso Umberto and restaurants. The Hotel Continental across the street has rooftop breakfast and bar. Paola helped make dinner reservations and gave so many good suggestions. I highly recommend staying with these hosts! Five Stars.

Everything about our stay was five star.Furio and Paola did everything to make the stay wonderful. Arranged for Parking, allowed us to check in in the morning. Called in dinner reservations as well as arrange a private tour. Highly recommend this apartment for cleanliness and location. A little noisy in the morning but nothing crazy.

Badia Vecchia was everything we wanted and expected...even more! Furio & Paola were fabulous hosts - welcoming and orienting us, helping with (too much / too heavy) luggage, being sure we had plenty of water and coffee, providing restaurant recommendations, both in Taormina and our other planned Sicily stops. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Location provided an easy walk to the center for everything you might need. The daily view from the VRBO of Mt Etna and the Mediterranean was beautiful. Our hosts, Paola and Furio were wonderful. They made our time in Taormina and many other east coast cities and towns, priceless!

Firstly Paola and Furio were amazing hosts. So kind, hospitable and helpful and very responsive if you ever need anything. The apartment itself was located in an amazing spot, everything is on your doorstep (after stepping down some steep steps). The views from both rooms are exceptional of both the sea and Mount Etna. The kitchen is well equipped (no dishwasher). Everything was very clean and we felt very safe there. Accessibility point: lots of steps to get into the property which is very common all over the town). An amazing stay all round.

This stay was even more than we could have hoped for. The hosts were excellent communicators, both before our stay and during. They helped us coordinate parking (think valet service - and they were quick!). They met us upon arrival to walk us through the apartment, provide restaurant recommendations, and even made restaurant/attraction calls on our behalf. They really went over and beyond! The apartment is super comfortable; they even provided us with water and espresso pods. The location was a short walk to restaurants and shops, but in a quiet neighborhood. This is a WOW stay.

Furio and his wife were such great hosts, arranging parking for us and giving us loads of recommendations in Taormina. The flat itself is perfect and you can walk into the busy part of town, or you can stay over on the edge and actually interact with locals.

Amazing views and location!

Our hosts were terrific! They suggested several places to eat and all were great. The location is superb for visiting Taormina - a three minute walk to main area. Wonderful stay!

Beautiful apartment

Apartment was in a perfect location to see Taormina and had spectacular views from every bedroom and terrace. The hosts were fantastic, accommodating welcoming and so helpful in picking restaurants and even made reservations for us. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely amazing stay in Taormina!! Furio and his wife made checking in and finding parking for our car completely seamless. The apartment was in a perfect location to access all of the sights in Taormina and was well equipped, including water and a mocha pot for coffee. The host also recommended great food stops in the city and even helped us get a reservation last minute after check in. Would highly recommend!!
