Pine Harbor Paradise

Hello, and welcome to our family River House. We’re glad you stopped by. Our River House faces due east and is located directly on the Sapelo River in Pine Harbor, a quaint and quiet community in northern McIntosh County, Georgia.

The fully furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath house awaits you and your family to create some lifelong memories just as we have and continue to do today. All you need to bring is yourselves and a change of clothes. Grocery stores and restaurants are just minutes away along with Shell Creek Seafood in Eulonia, the Shellman Crab Company on the Shellman Bluff Road, and The Market in Darien for retail purchase of fresh local seafood. Amenities located on this almost 2 acre property include a private pool, a private dock, shaded deck and plenty of outdoors for children to play and explore.

Bring your boat! We can assist you in launching your boat at the private hoist or direct to nearby landing for back down launching. If you choose not to bring your boat, numerous local charter captains are available for fishing, casting and day trip excursions. Kayak rentals and tours are also available.

Downtown Shellman Bluff is a mere 5 minutes away. There you will find a sleepy little fishing village with an excellent choice of dining options such as Hunter’s Café and Speed’s Kitchen along with Knotty's and Blackbeard Cove. Sapelo Hammock Golf Club is also located in Shellman Bluff. This challenging and scenic 18 hole course is carved out of the pristine coastal Georgia landscape. Enjoy breathtaking marsh views while play is routed through fairways lined with majestic live oak trees adorned with Spanish moss.

Plan a day trip to take the ferry to Sapelo Island and explore the Big House, the Lighthouse and the pristine beaches. The Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge to the north and Butler Island to the south are just minutes away for birding and various other types of wildlife viewing. For the history buffs start in Pine Harbor with the burial site of General McIntosh. Darien, founded in 1736, is mere 15 minute drive to the south. McIntosh County history dates back to the days of General James Oglethorpe. Some of the historic locations to visit in and around Darien are Fort King George, the waterfront Tabby Ruins and Ashantilly in Darien, not to mention the smallest Church in America at South Newport.

With Savannah 45 minutes to the north and St. Simons and Jekyll Islands 45 minutes to the south, day trips for shopping, sightseeing or to the beach can be an added bonus to your stay. Thank you for stopping by and please contact us with any concerns.

Perfect stay

This was the perfect place for rest and relaxation. The kids enjoyed the pool daily and husband and father in law took full advantage of the dock and fishing.

Our Future

We had an amazing stay at Pine Harbor Paradise. We were on a retirement location scouting trip. It helped us decide we need something similar. It was so peaceful day and night. Though we didn’t use it much, the pool was a plus. We spent our last day on the dock watching the tide and sea life. We saw dolphins, stingrays, crabs, pelicans and a small shark from the dock. The home is very nice, clean and organized. Ken was very responsive with questions. He provided a book with local suggestions. I couldn’t ask for a better experience. We will be back.

Great trip great house!

Great Vacation Home!

Ken, Thanks for the wonderful family vacation- We enjoyed our third visit to Pine Harbor and we think it gets even better each year! This house is always very clean, comfortable, and safe along with the wonderful pool and a sturdy dock with railings. Also, loved the upgraded bathroom. Very relaxing with great neighbors. Family enjoyed fishing off the dock. Will be back next year!!!!!

Wonderful vacay home

We had the best time at this property. The pool was amazing and we spent most days there and kayaking on the river. The home was clean and had everything we needed. It was quiet in the neighborhood and the chocolate lab came by several afternoons to hang out with us :) My daughter loved the tire swing across the road as well as the hammock swing on the back porch. Thanks for a relaxing, fun filled vacation home!

Excellent as always!

This is our families third time staying at the river house. This time we were pleasantly surprised with the new furniture, bathroom and laundry updates. There was also more lighting added outside. The weather was perfect and allowed us to enjoy days and evenings outside at the dock or pool. The pool was clean and refreshing. Can’t wait til next time.

Wish I could live here!

We had a wonderful time at this property! It was very homey, clean, and the pool was fantastic! We didn't catch any fish, but enjoyed trying. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and the piggly wiggly was 5 minutes away. My husband and I live in Savannah and it was a quick 45 min drive for us. We celebrated my mom qnd stepdad's birthdays, so it was only 4 of us. The beds slept really well and the showers looked newly renovated. My mom communicated with the owner and he was very nice/accommodating.

Great Family Weekend!

Ken, We enjoyed our entire weekend in your home. The kids loved the pool which was very clean and refreshing. We saw dolphins our first morning there and also had fun fishing off the dock where we caught several small sharks, whiting, stingrays, and crabs. The house was very comfortable and we had plenty of room to enjoy some family time along with our pets. Very clean home and a kitchen that was well stocked. Quiet and peaceful for sure. Nice to meet your family member. Altman's serves a great breakfast! Hope to make this an annual visit with our family.

Peaceful paradise

What a wonderful place to relax and feel at peace with the world. The house was spotless and we had everything we needed. Ken immediately took care of any concerns we had. Super easy to deal with! Location was perfect. Central to plenty of sightseeing..The dolphins made an appearance & fishing was great off the pier. Thank you for letting us share in your happy place! I could go on and on with compliments. Our family truly enjoyed every minute. I highly recommend renting Pine Harbor Paradise!

Pine Harbor-place to disconnect

A great place to disconnect. If you are looking for a very quiet getaway or into fishing & crabbing I would highly recommend. Kayaking is only an option if young , agile & brave. No kayak/canoe ramp to assist in getting in kayak. We also intended on utilizing some other amenities that were not available. After speaking with owner we were advised the amenities should have been updated and he apologized. Grills need attention. We ended up spending our time in private fenced in pool area which was very nice. There is little to nothing around this home to do so come prepared. We happened to be from Florida so regularly keep chairs, umbrellas and beach stuff with us. After setting up in pool area this was our little space. We really enjoyed the house set up. Beds were super comfortable and everything was in working order. Played games in the big dining area and sat on both porches. Enjoyed sunrise and watching a storm come in from the front. If taking your dog just be aware no one in this neighborhood puts leashes on their dogs. My adult kids got a kick out of an old Basset Hound named Rascal who came through daily. Most dogs were chill but did have an issue once on a walk so did not wander out much.

Ken responded quickly and was very nice. The property was clean and as advertised. Location was excellent. Seemed to be well stocked. We didn’t cook just ate sandwiches etc or ate out. Went for fishing and rest but we didn’t check the weather and it didn’t cooperate so we left early. Two things that come to mind I would change is add shades to the doors you can pull down at night for privacy and seal off the fireplace inside.

PERFECTION

This was my second time staying at this house and its hands down my favorite 2 vacations I've ever taken. It's peaceful and town is a short drive away. I cant recommend this house enough to anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind.

Another great stay at the River

My seven year old granddaughter put it best: it sure is beautiful here. Very peaceful, beautiful place to relax and recharge. My family looks forward to it every summer. Great Weekend!

Another wonderful weekend at the Riverhouse- Ken is a great host and the house, pool, and property were very clean, as always! Nice neighbors in a quiet neighborhood-Didn't get much fishing in due to lots of lightening but my grandson was able to catch a hammerhead shark off the dock and he was thrilled! Thank you ,Ken, for another wonderful family vacation!

Relaxing , peaceful getaway

We meet our family from Az here and spent the week! All of us had a very relaxing time down by the water and the back porch is great for sitting and enjoying company. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook and my family from Az was very thankful for the washer and dryer ( they are on a month long vacation so needed to wash clothes) the pool was an awesome addition but water was a bit to cold for us to enjoy. The beds were comfortable and the house provided plenty of space for 6 adults. The house also offered 2 full bathrooms which is also a plus with 6 adults. Games and puzzles were a huge hit. The only negative ( completely out of hosts hands) is the golf carts that drive by with loose dogs multiple times a day and also drive on the back part of grass by the doc. My husband and I can not wait to come back to stay! This is the perfect location for summer fun. Close enough to basic amenities but far enough away to be relaxing and semi secluded! Your home and property are beautiful.

Heaven on Earth!!!

What a great property. The pictures on line do not do it justice. It is beautiful and very private. Fabulous location as it is easy to get to Savannah and Brunswick. Many historical places to see. The house is extremely well appointed and spotless. Three king size beds with additional sleeping on large pull out sofas made it perfect for me and my two adult daughters. We had our small dogs and there are many many places for them to walk. The two acres and private pool are professional maintained each week. Sunrise was Maggie ificent while having morning coffee on the dock. Ken Johnson is the perfect host. He responds very quickly when you send him a message. Very nice gentleman. You feel like you are staying with old friends (who have an incredible home)! I highly recommend this VRBO. One of the best we have stayed in.

Early spring

This was our 2nd stay here..very clean and peaceful setting....lots of history in this area...some great restaurants in the area for fresh local seafood..beautiful sunrises...
