(Note: we are halfway through a major expansion of the cabin, so in the transition there are some unfinished walls and a large tent covering the expanded living room. These partiallyimpede the lake view from the cabin, but the new deck is huge. Thanks for your understanding!) This three-bedroom Lake Cabin with a detached Guest Cabin and Bunkhouse has been in the same family for over 80 years. The expansive front deck is steps away from one hundred feet of private rock beach with a large dock, recently redone. Each of the three bedrooms in the Cabin features a comfortable Queen-sized bed. The Guesthouse has a Queen with a Twin trundle bed and the Bunkhouse has a Twin bunk bed. The house has two full baths which were expanded and completely redone in the summer of 2021. There is a small full bath in the Guesthouse. The large kitchen is fully equipped and was renovated in the summer of2022 with all new stainless steel appliances, expanded cabinets, and lots of butcherblock counterspace. There are comfortable leather couches in the living room. The wraparound deck offers tables and seating for 16 people. At the beach there are more umbrella tables, chairs, and chaise lounges to enjoy the lake up close and a covered patio on the boathouse. Ample parking, a large picnic table, gas grill, Weber charchol grill, and an outdoor wood-fired griddle are available as well. This cozy historic cabin is not fancy, but well-kept with all the amenities. Perfect for families with kids who want to make lifetime memories together! Check-in time is 4:00 PM. Check-out time is 11 AM.

Great piece of property right on the lake, cabin feel with comfortable beds and bathrooms, everything was stocked especially the kitchen, pack your bag with clothes, nothing else is needed, except you food.
This property suited our family very well. It had a lived in feel which we loved. There were so many things to do right there at the house that we could have been content without going anywhere. We did enjoy our outings, but it felt like home to return.
Thanks for sharing.
Pack up your summer fun and head to "the Lake"! The family cabin on Flathead Lake near Bigfork, Montana is the place to gather for outdoor enjoyment. There is plenty of tables and seating on their deck that overlooks the lake. Bring you own wood if you want to have a fire next to the lake, if permitted and there isn't any wind. These cabins beat the heart of their families past and present history of the area. I even found a book on our own family history called "Kalispell Cornerstones", a fascinating history of twenty-five Kalispell homes. For example, page 18 and 19 that has our grandfather, Dr. Neil M Leitch listed as an owner in 1945. A few thoughts to know before arriving is that there are many rocks on the paths. Bring appropriate shoes or boots to walk around the property and in the lake, if needed, due to a slight decline of the terrain. We loved the kitchen and bathroom renovations! Always check the propane tank if you plan to grill. The tank was out of propane, but it was easy to fill nearby and inexpensive. Overall, I give this a five star property! We were so lucky to find it available for a beautiful weekend at the end of June "at the lake"!

View
The view from the deck and closeness to the water is one of the best. Most of the house, and guest house were comfortable.
However, the bathrooms were outdated. The bedroom with attached bathroom was pretty bad. The toilet is low, in a corner and the floor is rotted. The shower is a single one and the door opens in. Only a child can use it. The outside is moldy.
Until bathroom repairs are made, property cleaned up, railing on the steps fixed etc I wouldn’t return.
We enjoyed being outside.
Location was excellent, private waterfront and very close to Big Fork. The cabin was under construction while we were there, but the owner was upfront about it and it did not deter from our experience. We only wish he left us the plans so we could see what it will look like in the future! You could tell the cabin is family owned and loved. It is not a sterile investment property. WHen you are there, it almost makes you feel like you are at your own families cottage. The kitchen was well stocked with anything you would need. There is ample seating on the new and improved deck for large family meals. My only disappointment was the "closure" of most of the outdooring cooking appliances and the lack of useable paddles for the canoe. If you are looking for a place to really relax with your family, this is it!

Unfortunately, our stay was not what we had hoped. The view in the pictures online of the lake was obscured by both construction and a massive new screen TV that they got in the main living room. So when sitting in the main living room, you cannot even see out. There’s also a junkyard of trashy, old patio furniture and leftover used umbrella stands and garbage down by the lake, including a broken boatlaunch that blocks the view while sitting at the beach. Construction screws are scattered about so we had to be careful where we stepped and sat. The outdoor kitchen area was closed/junky too. To be fair the owner did let us know that the deck was being redone, but the pictures that he provided for us were not what we actually showed up to. See pics. The kitchen is not as well stocked as we were led to believe. There was a lot of dishes that were dirty that so we always had to wash every dish before we used it. The drawers were difficult to get in and out of and need repair. There were cobwebs all over in the kitchen, as well as in the bedrooms. I think if the house had a really good cleaning, it would be a lot better. This goes for the outside beach area too. And any future renter should know that there is no hairdryer in the house. And the house soap was not provided in the bathrooms, we had to go digging through their personal stuff to find some options for hand soap. Overall, we were underwhelmed. On the positive side, the Location was really good and close to Big Fork.
Great cabin lake front. Approx 4 miles south of Bigfork. Good owner follow-up with questions. Well stocked open kitchen, comfortable space. Heater, but wood stove not operable (although when we were there it was warm, so not headed). Ceiling fan in living room, no A/C. Nice deck with lots of seating. Nice rock fire pit by water. Owner is in process of repainting exterior which it needs. Overall this was a great property! Would book again.
What a beautiful view! The house was lovely and sweet and exactly what we needed for our time together. It is an older cabin so there were some untidy aspects
Love coming back here, and looking forward to our next stay. Great location and the perfect setup for our family. Very close to Big Fork and the public boat ramp was super convenient. The driveway is super easy for a trailer and cars. Well equipped kitchen and BBQ facilities, wonderful deck, dock, and beach area. ⛱️
Incredible property. Loved the "Cabin at the lake" look and feel, really took us back to the summer at the lake days for sure. Very comfortable furnishings, wonderfully remodeled bathrooms. Kitchen had everything we could ask for. Didn't have opportunity to use BBQs/smokers, but the 'cook patio' looked really well outfitted. Very quiet location (granted it was not the high season). Really solid and spacious dock. Definitely looking forward to our next stay here!
Loved the views and sitting on the spacious deck over the lake. Newly redone bathrooms and new appliances very nice. Lots of seating inside and out. Enjoyed the blooming lilacs! Fireplace is beautiful feature and lends to the history of the home. Kids loved the swings and trying to skip rocks. Very peaceful place, look forward to returning. Plenty of room for our large family, bunk room could use some tlc but otherwise a great property.
It is always a gamble this time of year whether it'll be rain or shine. God decided rain this year. This made us stay inside most of the time. The main cabin had plenty of room for us 11. It was clean and quiet. The bunkhouse had spiders and we couldn't get the electric to work, so we stayed in the main cabin. The beds were soft but clean, although I would prefer an air matress next time as my back doesnt like soft. The remodeled areas were beautiful. A lot of wood for a lot of people with children and men to remember to care for. Seems a risky choice in a rental property. The pizza grill, ice machine, and smoker were closed for the season but we were able to use the BBQ and the oven inside. Town was but a short drive. The main showerheads held no water pressure making it difficult to rinse long hair. The washing machine didn't wash the Spartan mud away but probably works well for normal clothing. Curious what the ceiling tiles are made of. The TV is not new enough for streaming, with or without an HDMI cable or cast app. The blueray player is only new enough for regular Amazon prime, no added channels. It does not support Hulu or Netflix. I would recommend a newer TV or blue ray player as the internet worked well. Normally we would've been outside and not worried about the TV but again, weather did not permit that this time.
Overall 4 out of 5. I would come back now that I know what to expect and I would plan a little better. Thank you for having us.
Our family had a great reunion here and absolutely loved the cabin! It felt like we could relax, be comfortable and make ourselves right at home. The view is incredible and we enjoyed using the canoe and launching our own kayaks from the rock beach. Thank you for a wonderful week of memories!
Nice place large enough for our family, and it had everything we needed. We specifically wanted a place with a boat dock, so that was great. Conveniently close to town and the scenery was beautiful. We definitely hope to come back again.
Extended family came together to honor a deceased loved one and the cabin provided an excellent place to gather. The cabin is clean and very comfortable and allowed seven adults and a child to spend time together with ease. The newly renovated bathrooms in the main cabin are beautiful! We also enjoyed the beach area and the deck immensely. I would very much like to come back again next season. :-)
We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin was clean and stocked. It really has the cabin feel to it. Hopefully we will be coming back! Thank you for letting us stay at your cabin.
Great spot for our family vacation. The property offered many different sleeping areas which were perfect for our family of grandparents, kids, and grandchildren. Awesome beach area great for bonfires, rock throwing, and watching sunsets. Despite what the listing states it does have internet which was a bonus for those of us working from “home”. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy this cabin next year!

About the host
Hosted by Bob Rognlien
We are an extended family that stretches back five generations in the Flathead Valley.
Why they chose this property
Our grandfather bought this property at the close of World War II and built the original cabin, which has been expanded and improved over the years. It is the site of generations of wonderful family memories and traditions. We hope you will make memories and form traditions of your own here.
What makes this property unique
The large deck with plenty of outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the incredible lake views in summer weather. Less than 100 feet away, the beach and dock give full access to enjoy this pristine glacier-cut freshwater lake. The property is located minutes south of the quaint resort town of Bigfork which offers everything you need plus great restaurants, an excellent seasonal playhouse, and one of the top rated golf courses in the country. The detached Guest Cabin offers privacy for a couple or a family of four and the Bunkhouse is designed for children. The cabin is comfortable, but not fancy. It is perfect for families with kids and we will allow well-behaved pets, but they cannot be left unattended, allowed on the furniture, or allowed to enter our neighbors' property. No smoking or vaping allowed.
