There are 4 TVs (2 bedroom Roku TVs allow streaming), a DVD player, some DVDs, and free WIFI. The dining room table seats 6 for a meal or game of cards plus there are 2 bar stools by the kitchen.

Or borrow a couple of our folding chairs (in the hall closet) to enjoy free summer Tuesday night band concerts and Sunday concert series at the town square. Our area features award winning public golf courses, parks, wineries, craft beer brewing companies, historical sites, and shops/boutiques. Thank you for your review. We’re glad the location was easy to find and that you found the beds comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. We appreciate you choosing the Chalet and would be happy to host you again.
This was a well appointed, clean and comfortable home. The atmosphere is quite charming too, with the wood and stone chalet structure giving a sense that we were somewhere special. The host was great too. We have shared this listing with friends and family, which we don’t normally do, but we are confident that anyone who stays here will be glad they did.

It was a unique style house with a great set up.
So close to the city, but felt secluded and able to relax for our last trip to the City Museum before our son graduates.
My sister and I booked this chalet for a reading and shopping weekend. It was PERFECT! The host thought of every tiny want or need. There was a beautiful Christmas tree, nativity set, and beautiful Christmas dishes that added to the overall feel. Every decoration was well thought out and not in the way of everyday movements. The couches and beds were cozy and warm. There were soft blankets near every chair and couch. Everything was so clean and smelled great. She even sent instructions for starting a fire! Always enough hot water, perfect amount of light in the living rooms with amazing darkening curtains in the bedrooms. She even had bath salts available for the clawfoot tub. Not to mention it’s within walking distance of wonderful coffee shops and cute locally owned stores. It was the perfect winter getaway! We cannot wait to be back! Do yourself a favor, book this chalet and cozy up in front of a fire all day!

We'd be happy to host you again and for smaller groups (3-4), you can also check the availability for Timberwolf Cabin - its the cozy one-room cabin across the yard with its own charm. Of course in fall and winter the chalet fireplace is not only beautiful but it warms the whole house. Hope to see you again soon.
The house is very nice. Near St. Louis yet in a nice small town. The sleeping arrangements were perfect for us. A bedroom with twin beds upstairs, a master bedroom on the main floor, and another queen bedroom downstairs. An impressive place!

Great communication with owner- and a really nice house with a cute small town setting. We had four kids and two adults and we all fit comfortably. The older kids loved the board game loft- and we appreciated the baby gates on all the stairways. Thanks!

Adorable beautiful home with easy access to downtown St. Louis in under 30 minutes
Wonderful home. Plenty of room with the three bedrooms. We truly enjoyed the fireplace during the evening. It has a fully stocked kitchen with the essential tools that were needed. Beds were very comfortable. You could tell that they have taken care and want your stay to be pleasant. We easily traveled to downtown St. Louis to see The Arch, take a cruise, and visit City Museum. We also were able to walk to the charming delicious downtown restaurants of Waterloo.

We are looking forward to the two new craft brewing companies opening this spring. The golf courses also have good restaurants. Hope you visit us again - lots more to discover...or just relax at the house and spend time with family/friends. Happy Spring!

Great getaway in a great little town!
Our family of 5 truly enjoyed the slowed down pace of Waterloo, with a walk through the little shops and dinner at Gallagher’s! The Chalet was beautiful, well kept and clean, and it had everything we needed, and the owner was great to work with, and promptly answered our questions prior to booking. We throughly enjoyed our time here as our first stop on our family vacation! We also loved the Bean Tree Cafe! Delicious and was worth the stop on our way out of town! Thank you Rika for sharing your home with us!
My only regret is not making it to the Vintage Wine Bar! Perhaps next time!

Loved our Visit!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the chalet in Waterloo. At first I was hesitant to book because we were planning on spending so much of our time in St Louis. So glad we did because in 25 minutes you can be in the downtown area. We attended a baseball game, the arch, Budweiser and other downtown attractions. We also managed to enjoy a couple of great meals in Waterloo and a hike. Chalet was very clean. Everything you need is
provided. Love the pay it forward approach and our only regret is that we could not stay longer!

Timberwolf Chalet has it all!
We had a great get-away weekend in Waterloo. This house literally has it all. Plenty of room both inside and out. We were able to host a dinner party for family at the dining room table. The kitchen was completely stocked with everything you could possibly need! The place was immaculate too. You can tell that somebody takes good care of this property. Having a local manager was great. Brian met us at the house and showed us around. As someone who has been renting vacation houses for years, I know a good one when I see it. Highly recommended.

Super cute and convenient!!
My family traveled from Florida to spend our spring break with Grandma and Grandpa. The Location was close to St. Luis, grocery stores, and dining.
We especially loved the little bunnies that were hopping all around the property. We took advantage of the coloring books and colored pencils. I don't often get the chance to color with my teenage daughter!!
The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because of some toothpaste splatter in the bathroom. Other than that, everything was perfect!!

Comfortable well appointed home
Our family is from the area, yet we have relocated. The hosts allowed us to rent their home for Christmas. The hosts and property manager were incredibly thoughtful with every detail. They even decorated the home with charming Christmas decorations, inside and out. The kitchen is well appointed and allowed for us to make family meals. The convenient location was perfect for our adult children to visit frequently. The home is attractive, comfortable and linens are nice. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, the yard is peaceful and was beautiful with the snow. Everything was impeccably clean, inside and out. The property manager lives nearby and is very helpful. Waterloo has several charming restaurants and shops for entertainment, and Schnucks is very handy. We would highly recommend this home to all.

The home was wonderful! Beautiful, clean and well stocked.
We enjoyed our stay in Waterloo, IL )June 20 - 24, 2016) Not having been to the area, other than to drive by, we did not know what to expect. We loved the Chalet and also Waterloo. The original plan was to spend most of our time on St. Louis, and we ended up spending only one day there. We toured historical sites around the area and enjoyed Waterloo. The Porta Westfalica Festival was going on while we were in town, and people were very friendly and welcoming. A part of our vacations is to try out local, non-chain restaurants and we were amazed at the good food to be found in Waterloo. Gallager's was fantastic! Our first night we ate at JV's and it was very good. I am not typically a beer drinker, but the bartender recommended a beer and gave me a sample - it was great! Again, everyone was very friendly and we did not feel at all like we were "out of towners."
Brian (manager) was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions or problems. We would definitely come back. The notebook provided by the owners contained local sites, restaurants (including menus), etc. and was very helpful and interesting. It loved reading the history of the Chalet. This would be a great place to come back to with family and friends.
We saw the Cathedrals in St. Louis as well as taking a walking tour of some of the older building. Both of us love history. We went to Ft. de Chartres, Kimmswick, Pierre Menard House, Ft. Kaskaskia and took the Kaskaskia Road to get to St. Genevieve. We plan to come back to finish our tour of St. Genevieve as we ran out of time!
We highly recommend the area and the Chalet. The owners and manager couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Even our two dogs felt at home.

Thanks - loved your review because I learned something new! Will have to update our guest binder with some new brochures from sites you mentioned. Its been fun to celebrate Monroe County's bicentennial year. Glad you tried a couple of our favorite Waterloo restaurants. We love all the local (non-chain) stores and restaurants. You and your dogs are welcome back anytime. You may enjoy the fall/winter when the fireplace warms and provides a nice atmosphere.
Absolutely amazed and satisfied with our time at this property. The host was very responsive when any questions arose, and made the stay even more enjoyable. From the complimentary snacks and toiletries, to the amenities, our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. The property its self is beautiful as well. The cabin has a very homey and calm feeling. Would definitely recommend staying here if looking for a place to stay near St. Louis, but away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.
We and our friends truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The architecture and uniqueness of this property is amazing. It had everything we needed and would be perfect for families with children also. It is centrally located in Waterloo and is close to many interesting restaurants and shops. We would highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Rika Beckley
It was a complete fluke that I learned, in 2014, that this home my father built in 1997 was coming on the market back. For almost 10 years, I've enjoyed welcoming guests from all over the world to this special and unique home. I also travel quite a bit so I've worked hard to make my home as guest friendly and comfortable as possible.
Why they chose this property
My dad built this chalet on my grandparent's original property. He was the craftsman for the 25' stone fireplace. The woodwork was provided by the Amish in Ohio. Just across the lawn, our sister property "Timberwolf Cabin" was built in 1953 by my family (The Wolf's).
What makes this property unique
If you "like" our social media pages (Timberwolf, Waterloo IL) you will see links to area attractions. Small town, country living while near the city provides the best of both worlds. I love being able to walk to town for craft breweries, wine bar, restaurants, shops, band concerts, plays, festivals... Its been fun to rediscover this town after living out of the area for so long.
