Nice and big house that had plenty of room for 6 of us. Close to town, but Golden has limited activities. Also close to Yoho NP and Glacier NP. It’s quite a drive to Banff NP though.
This is such a great place to hang out inside with the pool table, fussball tables and lovely open-plan great room and such a great place to hang outside with hammocks, a fire-pit and amazing views over the valley. We will definitely book this place again.
The home was perfect for our family. Comfortable, clean, conveniently located. Was not expecting the amount of road and train noise. It was not all the time but there were moments where it was noticeable. Even so, we really enjoyed our stay.
This was an absolute gem! The views are breathtaking from the hot tub. Was only a 6min drive to town, closer to the ski hill than expected. The fireplace inside made it super cozy when it was -20 outside. Lots of things to stay entertained on the property, would highly recommend for any family vacation.
The chefs enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and the wood burning fireplace was great on chilly mornings. The hot tub, pool table, and foosball tables were a big hit with the dads and kids.
This cabin for this price is unbeatable for what it offers - amazing cabin with everything you need and in such a perfect location 5-10 minutes from Golden. I would recommend this to anyone hosting a large group.

Very nice, well furnished home. Location and property is as was described, rustic. Initial communication problems with owner resolved. Warnings about bears were justified by seeing bears on the property twice in a six day stay. That made us very cautious about outdoor activities and prompted group participation.
We stayed in Golden in June as a "homebase" for exploring the Canadian Rockies. Our family of 5 was very comfortable in the house that was equipped with a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of clean linens and lots of space. We paid the extra money for access to the game room in the basement which was well-worth the money. The owner was super-communicative and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. Can't recommend the town of Golden highly enough. Plenty of restaurants if you don't want to cook in the house, a nice grocery store, and well-situated geographically to make day trips to Revelstoke for the mountain coaster and Grizzly refuge to the West or Jasper, Columbia Ice Fields and Banff / Lake Louise to the East. Too, we had a great time hiking and enjoying lunch at Kicking Horse Resort which was an easy drive up the mountain. Overall, great location, great house and great stay!
We had a great trip to Golden for our first ever 3 generational Family ski trip. Located about 23 minutes to the Ski Hill.... only 5 minutes to Golden itself.
There was a good amount of space for our family, the kitchen was a nice size for preparing meals and well equipped. The Wood stove was such a nice touch as it added a gentle warmth to the house. We enjoyed the hot tub, pool table and foosball as well. After a day slopes we really didn't have much energy left so it was early nights to get back out the next day.
Kyle is a great Host, answered my phone calls and was easy to get a hold of.
We are planning to do this trip again next Christmas, will be booking this property again. We are very happy with his property.
Overall, we would recommend this place. Location is good, had what we needed to do some cooking and sleep - which is all we needed to do there. Used the hot tub and it was also nice after some long hiking days. Several of the beds do have shallow mattresses (3" or so) and so several people doubled those up before they were able to get comfy.
The one snafu is the water from all that taps and showers smelled of sulfur (rotten eggs) for half of our stay. The property manager did work quickly to remedy the issue by filling the empty water softener, but the first few days we showered, washed pans, etc. in that water, which was probably safe just stinky.
Property manager communicated well on the issue and the normal stuff. There is a "clean up" before you go list, but it isn't much compared to other places.
Location was great for the wedding venue a short drive away. The property was large enough for our two families and had all the things we needed. There are some things that need a bit of work/cleaning but overall was good for our large group.
Central location for the National Parks & Rockies!
Overall, we were very pleased with our stay for our family of 9 and a dog! 5 minutes drive from downtown Golden and conveniently located within 60 minutes of the National Parks (Banff, Yoho, Glacier, Kootney). we also made the most of teh local Mountain Bike Trails!
The house had everything we needed and the kids and parents loved the TV room and game room.
Cheers,
Great location - close to amenities in Golden.
House is nicely set up for a large group and fairly well-equipped. Thank goodness for the portable a/c and the floor/ceiling fans! Kids loved the zipline, slide/sprinkler; hot tub, and foosball.
Didn't use the outside firepit - couldn't quite figure out the logistics - which is okay because the weather was so hot . . .
Lovely stay. Would stay here again - family and friends loved it as well!
We had an amazing time with a few of our friends and family at Kyle's cabin. The views are spectacular and the home is beautiful. We enjoyed the basement game room as well as the kids and they also enjoyed the cool zip lining near the side of the house. The kids also enjoyed the cute hammocks and swing and always had something to do. The location is close enough to downtown Golden if you wanted to explore and get out for a bit. Kyle was very responsive as well. I highly recommend this stay to others. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back again.
Views were amazing...hot tub was top notch! A few things were not exactly as pictured...but the owner of the property was quick to address any issues. Owner of property was always available via text throughout the entire stay. A great property for large groups...house comes equipped with everything you could need to entertain...the home stereo system is an amazing touch.
Home is close to a busy highway, train tracks and there is a neighbor right next door...so the house is not as remote as the pictures portray. Neverthless, overall a great holiday spot!
Been here before so we knew what to expect. The views are amazing and the kids love the pool table and table football. Internet bandwidth is limited (although speed is fine) so if you need to amuse little ones then its a good idea to bring some content with you. It's a house that is spacious and comfortable and designed for enjoying the landscape with windows looking out at the mountains as well as a large deck and hammocks facing the mountains. The owner is friendly and responsive.
We had a great time it was a beautiful home, great location a lot of things to do around the cabin as well as on the property. would definitely recommend or visit again.
Rented the propeety as a home base for a weekend ski trip. Really enjoyed the pool table and foosball rec room. Place slept the group comfortably and was as advertised.

About the host
Hosted by Property Manager/Owner
I'm an IT Project Manager and a father to a 5 and 7 year old. My wife Karen is a teacher at a Spanish Bilingual School. I'm originally from Vancouver Island and Karen is originally from El Salvador, but we reside in Calgary now. I built this home as I have always loved the area and the natural beauties that surround. My son at age 2 (who speaks more Spanish then I do) gave the house the name Casa Rocas because of the large rocks entering the driveway. I have responded to everyone's suggestions small or large and am a very active host ei: Bigger hot tub, fans in bedrooms, instructions for appliance etc. are examples to my responses in efforts to accommodate reasonable suggestions.
Why they chose this property
If this is your first experience in the Rockies, Golden is a great area as it is in the heart of a lot of the scenic tourist areas. 1.5h from Banff, 45 min to Lake Louise, 45 min to Radium Hot Springs and 1 hour to Revelstoke. Then Golden itself is a small gem. You don't have to worry about tour bus's flooding the streets.
I have stayed in many cabins/homes in the area and I recommend all of them. They all just accommodate a little differently. Having a young family, I'm naturally going to have things setup to keep my and other families happy ie: Den is a carpeted small room with bins of toys and Children books in bedrooms. I love to cook so I designed the kitchen exactly how I wanted it. I love the heat of a wood burning stove so I had one of the largest/most efficient stoves I could find installed. I love listening to music in the kitchen etc. so I setup a whole home audio system so you can listen to music throughout the house.
