We just finished a lovely week exploring Lake Cayuga and staying at this cozy cottage. You couldn’t ask for a better location, with easy access to the dock and the lake. The few minor hiccups we experienced were immediately addressed by the host. Our main call-outs would be that the furniture/beds are in need of an upgrade, as they were not comfortable. Grill is charcoal, not gas, so a bit more of an expense if you want to grill everyday. Otherwise, everything was as expected - a beautiful and relaxing way to spend time with family. Thank you so much!!
We found this cottage last minute on VRBO. we were worried about the cottage not having air conditioning as it was pretty hot the first few days of our trip. This honestly was not an issue. Fans and windows open, lots of kayaking, swimming and paddleboarding on beautiful cayuga lake. The cottage is so quaint and cozy, we were very comfortable here, hated to leave, hope to come back! The screen porch is amazing, the dock is beautiful, we also really enjoyed using the firepit. Very quiet and very private location. We took day trips to Ithaca (Cornell's Ornithologylab- wonderful), Watkins glen, Taughannok and visited Two Goats brewery on Seneca.
So enjoyed our stay at this sweet cottage with rustic comfortable amenities. Wonderful dock for sunning, yoga, or fishing! Friendly neighbors and option to avoid stairs for seniors was helpful when my parents visited. Great for young families with all that amazing bunk room...comfortable for adults too. Would recommend to others for sure!
We had the most relaxing vacation! The cottage had everything we needed to kick up our feet and enjoy the view. The lake was so placid until our last day when the winds picked up. From the dock we swam, drank our morning coffee, enjoyed some wine and cheese from a local winery, and met some nice neighbors. It was our second favorite place to hang out…. Our favorite place was the screened in porch where we could take in all the activities of the lake; watching boats and even observing a few big fish catches!
Upstairs you’ll find 5 or 6 built in beds but we didn’t need them as it was only my husband and I and we slept downstairs leaving all the screened windows open to hear the nature sounds. Things to know: No air conditioning and 1 bathroom with small shower . Truthfully , that’s all we needed to get away from buzz and grind of our everyday lives. There is a tv but didn’t use that either. We did use the WiFi to stay in touch somewhat.
Overall we definitely rate it a 5 and would return next summer for a relaxing reset to our busy lives.
Thanks to Susan for everything!!
The view of Cayuga Lake from the cottage was beautiful and serene. We sat on the front porch or dock most of the time. Watching the sunrise in the early morning hours was majestic and listening to the waves crashing gently to the shore was soothing at night time.
The community of the cottage is in a very intimate setting with other cottages close by. There was a common walkway right in front of the cottage that was used frequently throughout the day and evening by those living on both sides of the cottage. When people walked by they were only a few feet away from you if you were seated on the rocking chair or eating at the picnic table on the screened in porch. Everyone was very friendly.
The host was extremely responsive and answered all questions in a timely fashion. She even left us a wonderful bottle of wine.
This was a sweet cottage with a beautiful view. I loved the look of this home and the upstairs, built in beds. The owner was quick to communicate and helpful. We loved that it was close to nice trails.
Some things to know before selecting this location:
The lake is very large and is effected by the wind, which makes water skiing conditions very unpredictable but it does have a great boat lift and new dock.
Pack everything you would need as if camping. There is a nice Wagmans grocery store about 20 minutes away.
The mattresses are uncomfortable so consider sleeping bags or something with a lot of padding. Bring a fan if it is hot and extra blankets if it is cold.
There is one small bathroom with a small stall shower.
You need to take garbage to a specific dump station and get stickers for each bag at a local grocer.
These are some pretty good breweries close by and if you are a fan of wine we saw so many signs for wineries.
We loved local veggies and fresh eggs.
I hope this helps.

Great Place for Graduation week at Cornell.
This was a great place to stay during the crazy rush of graduation at Cornell. Very relaxing, and we were able to avoid the crowds and traffic of Ithaca. We just loved sitting on the porch in the mornings and evenings and taking a break from the busy graduation schedule. We also enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Beautiful area and thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay!

Clean, comfortable, and welcoming!
I needed some alone time and chose the perfect place and time (a week before Cornell graduation and beginning of summer season)! I was practically alone on the block but felt safe and right at home. The cottage is stocked with just about everything anyone might need.
The owner was very responsive to emails (within 24 hrs) and we communicated quite a bit before my stay.
I enjoyed driving into Ovid for groceries and shipped home a case of wine from Lucas Vineyards (right up the road) to remember my visit until I return!
I highly recommend the cottage to anyone but particularly adults looking for respite. There is a steep metal staircase that might make parents of little ones nervous.
Please respect this family's treasure that they are kind enough to offer and I hope it is here for years to come!

Charming Cottage with Stunning Views
Our family absolutely loved staying at this well kept, clean property. We were first intrigued by the winding dirt road down to the property. It was surrounded by woodsy, mature trees and a few other pretty cabins. It was peaceful and quiet upon our arrival. The owners provided us with a snack and a lovely local bottle of wine. We were stunned by the lake views from the porch and sleeping quarters. In fact, we took turns sleeping on the porch during the week! The 2nd floor with it's built in beds was charming! We enjoyed the café table at the end of the boat dock each and every morning. I spent one morning reading there as my family came by on rented paddle boards and kayaks. There was so much to do---but staying put and relaxing was just as enjoyable! We went into Ithaca several times to visit our daughter at college and get her set up. We hiked and went to many wonderful restaurants. Back at the cottage when we needed to rest, there was a good sized table on the porch for game night and a nice sized yard for Frisbee. Thank you Susan for your hospitality.

One word....Amazing!
The property was exactly as it was described online. Very clean and well maintained.
If you look for a tranquil and serene place to stay for a day or a week this is it. Very close to the wineries (Cayuga Lake Wine Trail )and local restaurants and bistros. The property owner was impeccable in the way they treated us. We will definitely be returning and recommending this to our friends, family and colleagues.

Lovely cottage on beautiful Lake Cayuga
We had a wonderful time staying in Susan's lake house. We were very busy with our son's Cornell graduation and it was nice to take walks in the morning along the lake or sit on the dock and relax in the sun.
The house is comfortable and quaint .
The owner Susan is very helpful and just very pleasant to do business with .She even left us a nice bottle of wine from one of the many local wineries .
We would love to stay there again .
Thank you ,
