About this property
THE REDBAND CABIN - 2 acres at Rocky Point on Klamath Lake - Boat, hike, fish!
THE CABIN
This cabin is a hand-built, 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1450 sq ft home located on Rocky Point Road directly across from Harriman Springs on Upper Klamath Lake. It is nestled on 1.3 acres in the small community of Rocky Point, Oregon and surrounded by towering old growth Douglas Firs. Visitors are welcomed by a large wrap-around redwood front porch with a wooden swing, 2 handmade juniper Adirondack chairs, an outdoor dining table, and gorgeous views. Inside the cabin, the great room is highlighted by a vaulted rustic wood beam ceiling, a beautiful lodgepole pine staircase, and a large brick fireplace with a wood stove to keep you warm on those cold winter nights. The interior is decorated with comfortable overstuffed leather couches and rustic cabin decor.
The master bedroom is downstairs and has French doors that open to the great room. The floors in the master are hand-cut pine and there is a large window that looks out the front of the house. There is also a wood stove in the master bedroom and a large, comfortable king sized bed. The bathroom is accessed through the master bedroom and consists of knotty pine paneling, a stone counter top, and a large updated tile shower. There is also an additional bedroom that is accessed through the master where there are two twins beds. At the top of the pine staircase is another large, tastefully decorated bedroom with a brand new queen sized memory foam mattress. The cabin will sleep 4 very comfortably. All linens and towels are provided.
The fully stocked kitchen has been remodeled with hickory cabinets and new countertops. There is a double oven, electric range, full sized refrigerator, microwave, a Keurig coffee maker, and a regular coffee pot. There are also two outdoor charcoal grills available for use. Just bring your own food!
OUTSIDE
Enjoy dining or kicking back with your favorite beverage on either one of the decks in the front or back yard. There is a picnic table in the fenced backyard that sits on a cobblestone patio. Enjoy roasting marshmallows or cooking over an open fire in the outdoor rock firepit. On the north side of the cabin is a large open grassy area that is perfect for throwing the football or playing horseshoes. There is plenty of room to park your boat or ATV/snowmobile trailer in front of the cabin and you can store your bikes and kayaks in the garage. We own the empty lots on both sides of the cabin so there is plenty of privacy and room for outdoor activities.
THE LAKE
At almost 30 miles long and up to eight miles wide and depths of up to 60 feet in some places, Upper Klamath Lake is the largest freshwater body west of the Rocky Mountains. One of our favorite things to do while at the cabin is fish and hang out on the lake. In the summer the redband trout, a strain of landlocked steelhead, come from all over the 94,000 acre lake into Pelican Bay at Rocky Point. It is not uncommon to catch trout over 8lbs! This is a favorite spot for fly fishermen. Boats can be rented at Harriman Springs Resort across the street or Rocky Point Resort about a mile down the road next to the free public boat launch. There is a public fishing dock at the boat launch as well.
Klamath Lake is a birdwatcher’s paradise and home to over 350 species of birds. Bald Eagles are often seen close to the cabin. There are multiple nearby access points for the Klamath Basin Birding Trail and Upper Klamath Canoe Trail including Rocky Point, Malone Springs, and Crystal Springs. Canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts can follow over 9 miles of canoe trails that roam throughout the marshes and waterways of Pelican Bay.
Harriman Springs Resort is directly across the street from the cabin and has recently been completely renovated. The restaurant offers a rustic gourmet menu with amazing panoramic views of the Mountain Lakes Wilderness area and Pelican Bay. Their bar offers a variety of craft and domestic beer on tap and in bottles, a fine collection of wine, and an excellent selection of liquors and spirits. Guests can order from the restaurant's rustic gourmet menu and enjoy the large patio deck on the edge of the springs. They also offer boat rentals, mooring for your boat, and there is a small store for any necessities you may have forgotten.
Rocky Point Resort is just a quick walk down the road. They specialize in Pacific Northwest cuisine in their lodge restaurant and also offer fuel and boat rentals.
SURROUNDING AREA
The cabin serves as a great staging point for your Crater Lake National Park adventures. The park entrance is only 40 minutes to the north. Additionally, there are at least 15 different trailheads with access to the Mountain Lakes Wilderness and Sky Lakes Wilderness areas all within 15 minutes of the cabin. Popular hikes include Cherry Creek, Nannie Creek, Mount McLaughlin, and the Pacific Crest Trail. Mushroom hunting is popular in the spring. There are multiple logging roads and trails nearby to ride mountain bikes, ATVs, and snowmobiles. Snowshoeing and cross country skiing are popular during the winter months. Lake of the Woods Resort is only 7 miles away and features water sports, boat rentals, a store, restaurant, and excellent swimming beaches. Fishing opportunities are endless in nearby lakes and rivers such as Lake of the Woods, Fourmile, Howard Prairie, Hyatt, the Williamson River, the Wood River, and the Rogue River. There are numerous lakes in the wilderness that can only be accessed by foot. The waterfowl hunting around Rocky Point on Klamath Lake is also phenomenal. This is truly an outdoorsman’s paradise!
If you like to golf, the Running Y Ranch Resort is only 15 minutes east towards Klamath Falls. Their golf course was designed by Arnold Palmer and has been ranked in the top 100 of all courses in the United States.
The cabin is extremely well stocked with all cooking items you will need. Just bring your own food, drinks, charcoal/lighter fluid (if you'd like to grill), and coffee. The Hwy 140 Store is about one mile down the road on 140. Their store offers gas, diesel, propane, alcohol, and groceries.
Klamath Falls is only 30 minutes to the east; Medford and the Rogue River Valley are only 45 minutes to the west.
