We had a great time, the house has everything you need to relax and enjoy time off. We enjoyed swimming and kayaking on the Fox lake, and exploring the area. The fire pit by the lake was great to use as well. The check in process is a little different from most Vrbo properties, you need to coordinate with a person to be there to check you in, but it was not a problem for us. There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out, kitchen is pretty well equipped and the extras, such as kayaks and cornholes were welcome additions.
Check in process was easy. There was a person there to answer any questions and I felt like I could contact them anytime if I had additional questions. We had everything we needed. Lots of pool time, several visits to Lake Michigan beach and easy shopping! (Unfortunately the lake had an algae bloom (?) so we didn’t do much on the lake.)

Comfortable home with amazing lake location, plus great pool!
This was a great place to rent. Roomy house with two nice bathrooms, along with 4 bedrooms all with comfortable beds. Beautiful Fox Lake location, plus nice pool with diving board. Large deck with great views, and a nice fire pit by the lake shore. Quiet location, but close to restaurants, shopping and just a stone's throw away from Michigan's Adventure amusement park! Would definitely rent here again.
It was a very homey and comfortable house. We loved the furniture, afghans, colors, TV, etc. Plenty of kitchen supplies & well-stocked. Also, plenty of towels and it was nice to have a washer & dryer (although we didn’t feel it should be the guest’s responsibility to do 90% of the laundry prior to our departure). The owner was very responsive and helpful and made everything a breeze (thanks, Kimberly!). Her assistant who met us upon arrival to check us in, however, micromanaged a bit (although her intentions were good). Would definitely stay there again! Highly recommended! : )

Family Vacation
We were disappointed upon check-in to learn that a paddle boat was not available even though the listed indicated otherwise. We tried to stay positive since a canoe was available, however, it had a hole that apparently hadn't been discovered previously and was unusable. Our 17 year old son was disappointed that he didn't have the means to fish as planned.
We also struggled with a terrible musty smell. We opted to turn the A/C off, which was luckily an option with cooler weather, and it faded out after a couple of days.
Keeping a sufficient water level in the pool posed a problem. I noticed previous reviews about it but hoped it had been addressed. We were told to simply add water, which I understand is necessary from time-to-time, but every other day isn't standard. The pool was the main reason we chose this property, so we were disappointed by the lack of interest since the water was consistently between 72-74 degrees.
With all the frustrations we experienced, we had family fun and were impressed with the cleanliness of the property. It comfortably housed our group of seven, including four adults and three teenagers. I'm neutral as to whether or not we would stay again.
This is a lovely home. Fully equipped. Wonderful patio for lounging outside and enjoying the lake view. Kids enjoyed fishing off the dock. All of the kids loved the pool and diving board. The large garage was great for rainy day activity as was the well stocked game cupboard. Kitchen was nicely furnished with most anything you might need. Close to towns for other activities if you are interested. Hope to stay there again
This property was the perfect setting for our family to share quality time together and still able to discover the many types of activities that Western Michigan has to offer. The home itself was well stocked with all the necessary items, like paper products, utensils and dinnerware that would ever be needed. Plenty of towels , linens, it was like being home and not having to make an extra trip to town except for food for the week. The pool was very clean and refreshing and the kiddos especially liked the diving board which was just the right size for them. The house itself was very clean and orderly. The location was within 10-25 minutes to get everywhere we wanted. Plenty of nice restaurants relativity close. Being in a rural area, traffic was never an issue. Would definitely look for this property again on our next trip back to Western Michigan. Our host Kimberly could not have been more accommodating. Nick and Sally P.
My husband and I stayed here with our 2 kids and their significant others. The property was very clean and we all enjoyed the pool. The pictures in the listing don’t do the property justice. There was plenty of room for everyone and the place is extremely comfortable for everyone to kick back after a long day of doing all the tourist thing. Lots of things to do within a 20 minute drive. We all thoroughly enjoyed our vacation!
I would not recommend this place to anyone!!. From the start, interactions with the property manager were horrible. She insists on checking you in, which means constant updates on arrival time.Traveling with young kids can be tough enough, arrival time may change at any minute. What’s more frustrating is that she meets you just to go through her list of rules & fines that may be imposed (ie washing less than 90% of towels, leaving dishes in dishwasher, etc). She’s great at listing out her rules but when it comes to our needs everything changed. When we got there, she tells my kids to go help their dad so she can talk to me about the rules(the house is off of a busy street & my kids are only 7,5 &1) .. The first thing I asked before booking the trip was about swimming & fishing in the lake. I see now that the property owner completely dodged my question and continued to tell me other things about the property. The lake was more like a slimy swamp, not suitable for swimming. We didn’t know this until going in the water. The locals told us days after going in the lake that it is contaminated!! She mentioned nothing about this. Since we couldn’t go in the lake,we were grateful to have the pool. However, two days after arrival, the pool was filthy dirty, with a huge frog and dead mouse in it. The property owner was in no rush to help & proceeded to tell me that I could take the water into the pool store to get it diagnosed. She insisted that this is normal and was wondering where I’m from since it’s “normal” to have mice & huge frogs in pools. An investment in a pool cover would likely eliminate this issue. The air conditioner upstairs didn’t work and she did get that fixed within a day or two however she still micromanaged the temperature. Check out was supposed to be at 12:00 but at 10:00, two men showed up without warning, not even telling us who they were. They started making small talk with my husband asking about where we were from, etc. We had a real uneasy feeling and felt that we had to leave in a rush. We thought she would have let us know if employees would be present prior to check out. Feeling rushed, we did forget to move a piece of furniture back to its original position, however, it wasnt hard to push back and definitely didn’t need two people. We cleaned out the entire place and considering the experience we have felt we deserved a refund however we’re happy to spend time together & didn’t feel the need to complain. On the way home,
Highly recommend this property- the house is spacious and extremely family-friendly, and the lake/beach and pool were great. Our toddler absolutely loved it. We really enjoyed the area, as well- very close to parks and to Lake Michigan with a lovely beach. Host was very communicative and we had everything we needed for a great family vacation. Would definitely return here!
We had our adult family of 6 for a week. We sat outside for all our meals, with plenty of seating. The kitchen is fully stocked and big enough for preparing meals. The pool is beautiful with a diving board and we were able to use it daily. The fire pit was a hit, along with a paddle boat, canoe and kayak. We brought our own kayaks too. Fox Lake us a quiet lake, very little boat traffic, so it was perfect for kayaking. We went zip lining at Muskegon State Park, day trips to Grand Haven and Muskegon. There are many rail trails within a five minute drive and took advantage of that every morning. Kimberly was great to communicate with and went above the average owner to make our stay was comfortable. We had a wonderful week!
This was perfect for our family. We didn’t want a typical tourist trap vacation this year. We wanted to relax, enjoy some fresh air, unwind in a pool, do some fishing, play some board games, and try kayaking on a lake. We got everything we were hoping for!
We stayed here for 5 nights the end of Aug/beginning of Sept. After reading all the reviews and communicating with the owner there were no surprises, other than the pictures posted do not do the outside justice. The pool is beautiful and the view of the quiet little lake was incredibly relaxing. Our family vacation consisted of 6 adults and a toddler. The house was very comfortable and kid friendly with lots to keep her entertained. It is obvious they are intentional about making sure you have everything you need to be able to just bring your clothes and food, as other than one beach day we spent the entire time there with no lack of anything. We all agreed we would happily stay here again.
We stayed here in August of 2020 with my family (2 young kids) and a couple of friends. Everybody had a great time. The pool was probably the highlight for all, but we had a blast boating and fishing on Fox Lake was well. There is also plenty to do on Lake Michigan, which is very close. We spent one day on a rented pontoon boat down in Muskegon, another on the beach in Pentwater. Would definitely rent again!
We had such a great time staying at this property. The pool is exceptional and the views over the lake are lovely. The house, though dated, was functional and well equipped. Expect to drive 10-15 minutes to get anywhere, but the stars you can see are incredible. Great farmers market in Muskegon, sunsets on Lake Michigan are a must. Thanks for a relaxing vacation!
The pool is a great asset as the lake isn't very clean to swim in.
We tried fishing every day without success, so not a good fishing lake. The lake is very quiet with very little boat traffic. Was a nice stay for our family.
We had a very nice stay, two families, five adults, two young kids. There are a few things to note but overall we were pleased with the house.
The check-in process was done in person (presumably an employee or friend of the owner) and seemed unnecessary; all of the things we were told could have been done over the phone or via email and the couple of questions we had she was not able to answer adequately. I mention this because after our drive with a toddler we were really ready to just settle in and instead we had to awkwardly stand around for 40 minutes going over things.
The property was clean, we felt very comfortable. Unfortunately the lake had swelled so much so that the beach fire pit was under water. Sandbags were in place and a new fire pit installed but the beach itself was not usable which was one of the key attractions for us for the kids.
I rated the location/neighborhood as just okay mainly because the house is right off of a main road, so again, not ideal with the toddlers. However, it is only a 20 minute drive to Lake Michigan and there are grocery stores close by which was great.
The star of the show was the pool. When we got there the pool was extremely cold, even with the solar heaters floating in it, the kids would not put a toe in and honestly, I was an ice cube and only stayed in for about five minutes at a time. However, we were there for a full week and by the middle of the week it had warmed up from the sun and 80 degree days we were having (awesome!) and we had so much fun swimming, sun bathing, and just hanging out.
Kim was very friendly and helpful in letting us know of the items they had at the house so we didn't have to over pack. The house was definitely well-stocked - the kitchen has everything you could need, lots of kids toys and books, a pack-and-play, a high-chair, and most importantly everything was well cared for and clean.
This home is cozy and very well stocked. We really enjoyed the pool and the fire pit over the view of the lake. No cable but there is a huge DVD selection. Perfect rental for those looking to escape the chaos of life and reconnect with each other.
Kimberly was a very pleasant owner . great vacation rental. for family and friends. pool was very clean. as was house and property. I am sure you will enjoy your stay. Bob.

This home has everything you need!
Beautiful view, both pool and lake! Located in a quiet neighborhood, with all the amenities. The full kitchen includes gas stove, pots/pans, dishes, waffle maker, blender, mixer, coffee maker, mixing bowls, serving platters/dishes, plastic cups and glasses of all sorts and sizes. I brought my own instant pot, cast iron pan and electric fry pan. There is a set of knives, but if you are particular and really need sharp, I would suggest you bring one or two of your own. The house also includes cable, internet, movies, books and games. There are two full bathrooms, one on each floor. Water pressure is great. The water in the house is perfectly drinkable (I'm not a fan of buying bottled water, so that's important to me). Washer and dryer are large and in great condition.
This home is set up to accommodate families of all sizes and ages. House has 6 beds ranging from crib-mattress sized toddler bed to king. The house is clean and spacious with plenty of parking. You really don't need to pack anything other than your clothes and food. Everything else is provided, right down to every size life jacket and toys that float in the pool. Really nice deck off of the kitchen that overlooks pool and lake. We really liked the fire pit as well. We loved the beautiful sunsets. Owners are friendly, responsive and very accommodating. I would not hesitate to recommend this property. We truly enjoyed our time there.

Great place!
The place was great. Very spacious home with plenty of seating options both in and outside. The kids room was great for our 3 kids. We swam in the pool everyday and it was the highlight of the vacation for my kids. 20 minutes or less for us to get to Duck Lake state park and beautiful Lake Michigan. We pick blueberries in nearby Whitehall. The kids even caught some perch and bass off the dock. The canoe and paddle boat got used as well! Everything you need is included minus the food and of course your beach towels!! I foresee us returning many more times!

Perfect for Getting Away From It All
This location is wonderful! It is tucked away from everything, yet is within 15 minutes of everything. We loved the quiet relaxation. The house is wonderful and spacious. The pool and deck really add to the relaxation. The lake is fantastic for more fun. Particularly, the owners of the property were wonderful and easy to work with. They did everything they could to provide us with the best experience we could have hoped for. I am looking forward to next summer's get-away here! If you're looking for a place to get away from it all and relax in a spacious, quiet location that has something for everyone, this is the place!!
