Casa Lago is a great place to escape to year-round. Lake Austin view with a very short walk to the waterfront. This property has plenty of room to store your boat with just a 5 minute drive to Quinlin Park for boat launching, huge deck with gas grill situated on a secluded bend of Lake Austin just 20 miles from downtown Austin. Relax, unwind, enjoy the double or single person kayaks, bird-watch, fish, or enjoy a spa-treatment at nearby Lake Austin Spa. The house accommodates 6 guests, and the spacious yard offers an abundance of outdoor space for socializing, BBQ'n, playing or just relaxing. Bring your boat and or jet skis or lounge by the water's edge (private HOA park strict rules apply) and drink in the view of the Golden Cheeked-Warbler habitat directly across the lake. You will love taking advantage of the most peaceful stretch of Lake Austin. Mornings are not to be missed. Grab your coffee or tea and watch the morning fog pull back revealing a glass-like surface that mirrors the rolling hills above. Just 35 Miles from the new F-1 Track in Austin, 20 miles from SXSW and ACL Festival.


The Activities: By Day - kayaking (life jackets and paddles provided), hiking, swimming, fishing, golfing, skiing and wakeboarding, bring your boat or jet ski (plenty of parking). You can kayak or walk 1/4 mile to the Lake Austin Spa for world-class spa services.

By Night - Dining, grilling, star-gazing or hitting the downtown or lakeside Austin nightlife.

This is a monthly rental property requiring a minimum stay of 1 month. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask you to abide by the HOA park rules, Absolutely NO CARS are allowed to be in the park and that you pick up all trash before leaving. Pets must be leashed at all times as we are considered inside Austin's regulations. The public boat ramp at Mary Quinlan Park is only 1/4 mile away and is a much more friendly user boat launch. There is also additional parking for guests temporarily visiting during your stay. If you are traveling in a large RV I can arrange ample parking for your convenience close to the house. We have a strict policy that forbids parties at our home. Thank you for your consideration of our home and our rules.

Cottage Overlooking Lake Austin

Perfect lake cottage for a stay by the water. Surrounded by huge old trees, with peekaboo views of the water from an expansive tree-shaded deck with big table and barbecue. Feels like living in a tree house. Quiet neighborhood with easy access to the lake from several nearby parks and public boat ramps. Room for kids/grandkds and dogs to run and play outside. Very clean, with well equipped kitchen and linen closet, two comfortable bedrooms, and a nice bathroom. Great spot for a beautiful get-away, but also a great longterm rental, as we stayed three months during a remodeling project at our home. Great little house in a magical location.

The house is clean and the porch is a wonderful extension of the house. The proximity to the Lake is an added plus. The internet is excellent. We enjoyed our time at Casa Lago.

Beautiful & Peaceful Escape

We stayed in Jon's house for a whole month. The pictures do not do this place justice - the house is situated on a hill directly across from Lake Austin with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding trees. A one minute walk down the lane and you're standing on a dock or have your toes in the water. Jon's house is immaculate, well stocked with everything you need and more. Communication with owner was fantastic and fast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have booked another month if it was available. Even weathered the big snow storm in Texas at this house and never lost power or water, like thousands of people all over the state. Highly recommend! Thanks Jon for a wonderful stay!

A little slice of heaven

If you are looking for a posh place with the fancy amenities, keep scrolling. If you are looking for a very comfortable home within walking distance to the private gated boat ramp and lake area, this is your spot. Leaving was difficult as we fell in love with the space and community. Jon is absolutely delightful and answers within minutes. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Truly and honor to stay in this home. Thank you Jon and family, we will be back for sure!!

everything excellent except...

everything was excellent, the lake, the cabin, the beds were super comfortable and the pillows fantastic. however, for 3 vegetarian women from hippysville Vancouver, seeing animal heads on the walls was a shocker. I get that it's Texas however, I (ironically there was a Live Love and Life sign in the kitchen. We saw 2 deer roaming the streets which was both cool and kind of sad. The only down side of the location is that there is no food stores within walking distance, so make sure you load up on the way in. I wish we could have taken advantage of the lake and barbe-cue area but we were busy day and night at the ACL festival. That was a bit of a hike each day (1/2 hour drive), but the cabin on the lake was worth it. Only real downside were the stuffed animal heads on the wall, it shocked the hell out of us. Poor deer and Impala...one of the bands at the ACL was Tame Impala...

Charming Lake House!

We loved our stay at the perfectly located Casa Lago Lake House in Steiner Ranch! We spent evenings relaxing on the deck, taking the short walk to beautiful Lake Austin, and enjoying the kayaks provided by the owner. Very quiet & relaxing! Perfect for a quick getaway!

Nice little lake house. We had everything we needed, we just brought our groceries. If you do forget anything there are stores with in 10 minutes. Jon was very accommodating & answered quickly if we had any questions. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck under the biggest pecan tree I’ve ever seen. We cooked out on the grill & had coffee & breakfast out on the deck. Everyone was friendly in the neighborhood , even the dogs, they pretty much stayed to themselves though. We kayaked, fished & just listened to music on the dock at the HOA Park a very short walk down the hill. The waters a little cold right now. We will be back when we need a quick getaway from Ft. Worth.

I bought this property as a weekend getaway in 1990 and have enjoyed it ever since. My girls are busy with school and other activates that do not allow us to make it out there much, so I have decided to share it with others. I hope you will enjoy your stay as much as I have.

Why they chose this property

The area across the lake from the house is a Golden Cheeked Warbler Habitat, so it is completely undeveloped. The view from the HOA park is just beautiful with an undeveloped 'mountain' (by Austin standards) instead of houses. Evenings and early mornings after, so peaceful that you will never want to leave!
