I usually don’t say this but the photos did not depict this place accurately because what we experienced…WAS SO MUCH BETTER. The location was close enough to Cooperstown to be able to drive back and forth from games but far enough away that you could disconnect and enjoy the lake that was just steps away. Fully stocked with all the essentials plus games and puzzles and everything you might need for a rainy afternoon. The couch in the family room was amazingly comfortable and large enough for everyone to curl up and relax. This place is a gem and should absolutely be booked if available
Our 2nd time staying at Deer Ridge and love it. The addition to the house gives so much more room than we needed. Loved the sun porches. Will definitely will book again on our time in Cooperstown.
We've stayed at this property for a few years. The house was very clean, and the location is perfect. The many upgrades to the property have been very welcome.
Well-appointed large house with a beautiful view of Lake Otsego Lake. We enjoyed the private waterfront (dock, lake and use of kayaks). This immaculate home was comfortable and peaceful. Grounds are wooded and lovely. Close to town, about 3.5 miles. Area is very quiet. Owner was responsive and accommodating. Could not have asked for more!
We loved the roominess of the property - lots of space to spread out. The kitchen was very accomodating, as were the decks. The view of the lake was spectacular.

Lovely home away from home
We had a wonderful stay at this property. It was spacious, clean, and well stocked. The view of the lake from the deck was spectacular. I would absolutely recommend this property to family and friends...And we hope to visit again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Deer ridge. The house and yard was very private and cozy. We were close enough to town to but far enough away to enjoy the quiet & relaxing view. We did have a visit from some deer one morning. We would definitely book this house again next time we visit Cooperstown.

Thank you. We always appreciate having great guests!
We've now stayed at this location for a few years. Great location & easy lake access. House is large, comfortable, & clean. The only downside this year was the presence of ants in the kitchen areas. This is being addressed by the owner thru the use of a pest control service.

Beautiful Lakefront Home
Really enjoyed staying at this property during a Cooperstown week for my son. House was fully stocked with all that you could want. The drive to the fields was approx 12-15 min, which was manageable. We spent many hours fishing off of there dock and small little beach area. Would stay again if the occasion arose.

Would stay again
Large, comfortable and very clean. Beautiful views. Owner left clear instructions. Left 4 stars because of dangerous entry walk to house and exposed, rusty metal at dock area. Had cold weather our week so don't know how cool house stays in summer.

Thank you for your comments. The dock area is scheduled to be completely renovated. Unfortunately, the contractor is 6+ months behind on the work. Late snow storms, and heavy flooding in the area has backed his schedule up since he has had to repair many of the existing docks damaged by the high water and also capture those that floated away. Very few contractors can renovate the waterfront (they use a barge and approach from the lakeside where they can easily access the waterfront, remove old material, and bring in material for construction; and of course have access to electricity for power equipment through the barge's electric power). Therefore, waterfront owners do not have many alternatives, but to wait for the work to be done.
The walk to the house from the parking area is about a 10% grade downhill. This is the first concern I have heard about it. In the winter, the house is closed from Dec through Feb, and I agree that it could be an issue for people who need assistance walking if the ground was frozen or an ice condition. We do have a second parking area, completely level with the house which I could have recommended using if I knew the gradient was an issue. I will look at this further to see if an improvement can be made.

Long weekend retreat
Beautiful house with views of the lake. Spacious rooms in great condition, the dining room and deck are lovely locations to watch boats/water. The staircase leading upstairs is steep, so if anyone has difficulty climbing stairs it could be an issue. Also, the dock for the lake is located across the street so be cautious with children. The only issue I had was with the huge list of must/must not do's - I realize it's a rental so you have to be over cautious but some of the items are laughable.

Thank you!
The list of must/must not do's is focused on the summer weekly rentals by baseball teams which sometimes get out of hand. We understand many are not applicable to the average tourist.
This was our first trip to Otsego Lake & the Cooperstown area. This house was very well stocked with everything needed, & then some. As one other reviewer noted, all you need to bring are your clothes & food. Also, the house was very, very clean. The view of the lake from the breakfast & dining room areas was wonderful. The two kayaks & one canoe were a great bonus. The area down by the water, however, needs to be upgraded. There is little room to walk, and a lot of rusty metal. This was understood to be the case before we booked, since the owner was quite thorough in his description of the property. Any questions we had were quickly answered. We would definitely book this property again in the future.

Charming and spacious lake side home!
Recently concluded our dad's only trip to Cooperstown to take in the holiday weekend Hall of Fame festivities and a concert at Ommegang brewery. The location of this property is fantastic as it's very close to the village of Cooperstown (4 miles) and it's situated on a hillside across the street from the lake so you have an awesome view.
The house is very spacious, clean and updated. We especially enjoyed the kitchen area with adjacent dining room for view of the lake. There's also a huge flat screen TV and very comfortable couch in the front living room area. The Wi-Fi is very good as well, all 4 of us could stream & surf the web with ease as there was plenty of bandwidth to go around.
The owner of the property was very nice and easy to contact via the VRBO app. We would definitely come back to this property in the future and may even bring our wives and children!

Great mini vacation in Cooperstown
My family and I stayed at the Deer Ridge Lodge in Cooperstown, NY for 2 days to see the Baseball Hall of Fame and other sites in Cooperstown. The house was a perfect fit for the 6 of us. The kitchen is big and clean and has everything you need. The living room is huge with a very comfortable sectional and large television. The house sits on a hill and you need to cross the street to get to the lake (only drawback - be careful crossing the street if you have small children). If it was nicer weather, we would've enjoyed going out on the lake in the complimentary kayaks and canoe. The house is very close to the downtown area, only a few miles drive. We visited the area out of season which is anytime after Labor Day but we enjoyed going to the Hall of Fame, Cooperstown Distillery, Ommegang Brewery and a few good restaurants before leaving the area. I recommend the house if your family is looking for a nice, cozy place to stay that's close to everything.

Spacious, comfortable house in Cooperstown, on Ostego Lake, near Dreams Park fields
We were in Cooperstown for the Dreams park Tournament and decided to rent a house instead of booking a hotel room. In hindsight, we are so grateful we did and this property was perfect for us! We were able to make meals before, during and after baseball games, and we were happy to come back after a long day at the ballpark to the comfortable and open spacious outlay of a house (instead of a small, crowded hotel room). Overall, the house was much larger than expected (!!) - with a good sized kitchen, a dining area overlooking the lake, a dinning room (that we never used) and 3 large family/sitting rooms for 'hanging out. The were 3 bedrooms (2 with double beds, 1 with 2 twin beds) that were not so big, but were fine as we only spent time there sleeping. The house is across the street from the lake, but the house has a small private dock that we used for fishing and swimming. We also used the provided 2 kayaks and canoe. Two full bathrooms and laundry were available. Our only 'complaint' is that we wish the water pressure in the showers had been a little bit stronger. Overall, the house as kept neat and clean, and we enjoyed the use of a BBQ for dinner one night.
The house is conveniently located about 10 minutes to downtown Cooperstown, and ~15 minutes to Dreams Park (I do not know the distance to the All Stars park).
The owner was very easy to deal with - he answer all questions before our visit.
I highly recommend renting a house if you are in town for a Cooperstown tournament - and I highly recommend THIS house.

Thank you for the comments. We are addressing the water pressure and expect to improve it soon.
Gorgeous views and excellent outdoor spaces! Thoughtfully stocked kitchen. Communication with owner was excellent. The owner kindly alerted us to a fallen branch on the property that was blocking the main entrance (storm from the night before), but it had already been taken care of by the time we checked in. A bit longer of a drive from Cooperstown Dreams Park, but because it was our second time coming up for the tournament, we were ok with that. It's a beautiful drive through the main streets of town.
This was our family's 3rd year in a row staying at the house. Need I say more??
Great clean, roomy, well-stocked house, beautiful views of the lake, nice new deck & dock, and the use of kayaks & canoes. The owner quickly replied to any questions we had.
We'll be back.
This was our 2nd time staying at the house (we had previously stayed August 2020). Once again, the house was very clean, and very well stocked with everything needed. The newly added deck, and new spacious dock, really made the place especially enjoyable. I'm sure we'll be looking to rent again next year!
The house was clean and well stocked. Plenty of room for two small families to enjoy a week at the lake. Location was convenient for traveling to Glimmerglass State Park and Cooperstown. Lots of fun things to do and see but enjoying time on the lake was our favorite.
The booking, communication, and access process was easy, direct, and efficient. The house had great upgrades to the outdoor space that we were not aware of. Our weather was rainy and cool so we visited the town and utilized the inside of the house. Our stay was great and we would consider returning again.

Why they chose this property
We use this property ourselves in the off-season and rent it to cover costs. Any income above cost we invest back in the property. This is not a cash making business like all the rentals in the Cooperstown area and we price our rental at break-even.
