Great host and a beautiful home!! We love this neighborhood and the private beach access is incredibly close. We picked up a low country boil from goat feather right around the corner and ate it on the beach for dinner- best part!

We stayed at Karin's home during our children's spring break and had a wonderful time! In all, we were three families with five kiddos (ages 3-7). We loved Karin's home - it was so comfortable and welcoming and had such great amenities for families! The porch and balconies were such a lovely place to take in the sunrise. The location was fabulous - just a short walk to the beach and the pool! From the house, we could also walk to get ice cream, donuts and coffee and we were close to great restaurants and 30A. We cannot wait to come back!

Great Family Vacation!

Great location! The house was fully stocked for cooking, and even the bathrooms had hand soaps! The house was big enough to get away from each other yet allowed for great family dinners and chats. The amount of towels was a god sent! The pool was wonderful! Beautiful house! Great host!!!

Florida's best spot

My family spent a week at Karin's house on Old Florida Beach and it was absolutely spectacular. The house is spacious and comfortable and had absolutely ever amenity/appliance/accessory we could possibly want or need. The distance to the beach is unbeatable, and the proximity to the Draper Lake tide pool was great for the smaller kids who were a bit intimidated by the ocean. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet, the community pool is a delight (and heated!). The location along 30A is amazing (I could eat at the Snack Shack every day!) and I loved walking and biking around the area. The top floor has incredible views and the most comfortable day bed. If I could live here forever, I would!

Perfect house, perfect location

This was my family’s 3rd year in a row visiting Santa Rosa for an early summer vacation. This house, by far, has been the best home we’ve stayed in. It had everything we needed from spacious bedrooms to comfortable living areas. The balconies on each floor and the covered porch downstairs were perfect for relaxing on after a long day at the beach. Speaking of which, the beach was literally steps away down a private access pathway tucked away in the gated community. It was a marvel to see all of the beautifully designed homes within the community. The people in the neighborhood were friendly and great restaurants were within walking distance. We will certainly return to Sugar Shack in the coming years.

Sugar Shack/Old Florida Beach Review

This is our third time staying in Old Florida Beach. Great area for vacationing. Our house was located close to the beach with easy access to boardwalk. The home was laid out well and worked for our family. The upstairs room where our son slept did get hot most days so that took a little adjusting and we ended up utilizing a fan to help cool him down at night. The house was easy to access, but the keys only worked for the front door. While this wasn’t a major problem, it was a minor inconvenience due to the showers to rinse off from the beach we’re located on the side/back of the home closer to the back door. Overall, our stay was good and we recommend going to Old Florida Beach area for future vacations.

Fantastic Beach House

What a beautiful property. The first thing I’d note is it has everything promised. What stands out is the quality of the everything. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking as a family. The knives, pans, dishes, etc. are first rate not some second hand or leftovers like you see at a lot of places. You can grill - Weber - cook, bartend, or whatever and everything you need is there - even an ice maker. Second thing I’d note, like everyone we are looking on Google pre-trip. I thought the house - being across the street from beach access - would be a bit of a walk. google is misleading on this. It felt way closer to me than it looks online. This relieved my only pre-trip concern - how to lug all the kid stuff back and forth. Really no issue at all. It’s also much closer in person to the little shopping area. I short, easy walk. All in, this is a beautiful beach home, with quality of everything you need (did I mention the beach towels?) and want. Our family - Mom, dad, and five kids had plenty of space and had a wonderful week. I would absolutely return and it was well worth the money we spent.

Our yearly Old Florida Beach vacation

My family and I have been staying in Old Florida Beach for the better part of 13 years. We love the area and love the neighborhood. This was our first year staying at Sugar Shack and we found it enjoyable! The house is large enough that our 4 kids (3 being teenagers) had space to go be alone and the common area downstairs welcomes plenty of space for all of us to hang out. We enjoyed the games and puzzles on rainy days and Karin’s garage is very well stocked with beach toys and nice bikes! The beds were all very comfy and the master tub is fantastic! The beach access is directly across the street, however it takes you closer to the Draper Lake tide pool, so we opted to walk just down the street to the other access, which is closer to the chair set ups. Not a bad walk either way. The outdoor spicket in the front yard came in handy hiding off toys, feet, coolers and chairs.

Great House, great neighborhood

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house is exactly as the pictures make it seem. It's well decorated and comfortable. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. Access to beach and pool was great. If you are looking for a quiet, easy beach trip this house is wonderful. There was a seasonal shallow lagoon(may 2ft deep) at the end of the boardwalk. We weren't quite sure about it at first, but it was PERFECT for younger kids to play in and close enough to the beach that we could keep our eyes on them. They caught crabs in it and played for hours with new friends. Already looking forward to our next stay!

Wonderful house, perfect location!

Our large family of 6 adults and 5 kids under 7 had a wonderful spring break at Karin's lovely beach house. First of all, Karin was so responsive before, during and after our stay (she even mailed me a bag of expensive kitchen stuff that I accidentally left behind) which made our stay even more comfortable. My security deposit ($1000 is a lot, but I get it) was refunded promptly. I loved the location of the house. Next door is a community pool and across the street is the path to the beach. No busy streets to cross! And the neighborhood is gated which to me is always a plus. The house itself fit my family perfectly. One bedroom at the top level for me had gorgeous views and ocean sounds. It has a sleeper sofa which wasn't the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in but the peace and quiet made that not a big deal. The families with kids were all on the 2nd floor and everyone slept great! The bedroom on the main floor was perfect for my daughter who doesn't have kids. All in all this is one of my favorite 30a vacation homes that we've stayed in. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks so much Karin!

5 star house, 4 star community features

Our family of 8 (2 adults, 4 kids, 2 grandparents) enjoyed a weeklong stay in October last year. The house itself was great, it was very clean and felt like a modern home just at the beach. The downstairs floorplan is open which was nice so we didn't feel disconnected from each other, but the rooms on the 2nd floor were isolated enough that we could have privacy when wanted. The kitchen was very nice and worked well for the cooking and prepping that we did. The spigot and outdoor shower were nice for rinsing before going inside. We didn't use the 3rd floor but it has a great view of the beach from the balcony. The owner was nice and easy to work with and no problem getting the deposit back. The only downsides to our stay weren't the house itself but where it is. The neighborhood itself is very nice and is gated so we felt fine if the kids went around on their own. It is in a great location relative to other amenities around. We were looking forward to using the pool but it apparently was being overhauled as it was totally dug up. That was a bummer! We like the beach, but with little ones it is nice to have access to a pool too. We also found that the beach access was a bit tough on the grandparents. There are a lot of steps to go down and no real way to get around it to get access near the house. Might also be tough if you like to cart a bunch of beach swag in a wagon or something similar. I would have rated 5 stars otherwise.

Fantastic!

The Sugar Shack is a well appointed, spacious home that served as the perfect destination for our family vacation. It is comfortably yet beautifully furnished. There are bikes and beach equipment provided in the garage, which entertained the kids when we weren't enjoying the beautiful Santa Rosa beach right outside the door. We can't wait to return!

Great vacation!

We have stayed at Sugar Shack twice his summer and really enjoyed the area! House is very well decorated and felt like home. The owner is very accommodating. We would definitely recommend Sugar Shack!

Will be back to the Sugar Shack!

This is a beautifully decorated beach home with water views and very easy beach access. Was there with 8 adults, and we all were extremely comfortable, with plenty of room for all in beautiful bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Already planning a trip back with the kids! This beach is in a great location with easy access to restaurants and nearby towns. Loved the Sugar Shack!!
