About this property

Secluded Farm Getaway In Smithsburg

You’ll love my place because of the farm animals, pond, hiking, camping, biking, history, culture, nearby cities, nearby historic towns, shopping centers, wineries, farms and more.

My farm is situated near Cunningham Falls State Park and Appalachian Trail. You can hike to the park from my farm. There's a fire pit built into the patio, farm animals for petting and feeding, and a yard for camping if you wish. My farm is near Civil War battlefields and other tourist attractions.

Accommodated us well
We appreciated our accommodating hosts. Clean sheets and overall clean place to stay. It was a farmhouse so it had the typical critters that live in the country. Not too many farm animals left, only goats and peacocks. :( my daughter was sad. Still, I would come back again…we loved fishing!

Refuge
My spouse, friends and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Pleasant Valley Farmhouse. We sat on the deck, we enjoyed the view--willow trees, pond and open space and enjoyed our meals in the pleasant room next to the kitchen. The buildings gave us the impression we were truly on a farm, and although we didn't feed the animals, we saw the goat and heard the peacock. Our rides on the back roads, lemonading through the rural countryside contrasted to our trip to Hagerstown and our visit to the Museum a Medicine, a wonderful display of historical relics and dioramas of the Civil War. The inside was tended and clean and suitable to our needs, and the owner assured me the outside accumulation of garbage in the shed would be picked up after we left. The only thing that inhibited us from walking the property was the tall grass surrounding the buildings

Very cool place, what we expected, a few things to know before you go.
Overall, we loved the home. It was reasonably priced, well stocked, and check in/out was a breeze. The goats and peacocks were awesome, and definitely a highlight of the trip. Would definitely stay again and recommend. A few things to note: It is an old farm house, so it is a little drafty (socks or slippers). It was clean in the sense that it was sanitary, but old farm house dust and such. Wifi was a little slow. Good enough for emails and iPad, not great for webex meetings. Cell service is non-existent. Used wifi calling with limited success. If you are looking for a comfortable, no fuss place to relax, this is it.

Hello, my name is Mike Fitzgerald. I'm an entrepreneur who's main focus is real estate. I grew up in Sharpsburg, Md and have always loved animals. I have 1 son who means the world to me. I love to travel and with my business, I am fortunate to be able to do that often. Please contact me with any questions regarding my listings.

Why they chose this property

I purchased this house in one of my first real estate deals. We did a full renovation updating the amenities while keeping the farmhouse atmosphere. I continued to live here many years and still live nearby.

What makes this property unique

This home was originally built in 1850 and remodeled in 2006. I have an array of animals for you to enjoy such as goats, pigs, chickens, ducks and peacocks! Relax on the stone patio with the built in fire pit, or watch the sunset from the deck and balcony. With several state parks in the area and being so close to the Appalachian Trail, there are many places to hike and enjoy nature. You will fall in love with this home's unique character!
