A short 13-minute walk from beautiful downtown Burbank, the Urban Refuge is a well-equipped and spacious studio apartment with amenities to impress. The apartment also has an iron and ironing board. An ALDI supermarket is at the other end of the street.

Ample unrestricted street parking is available, no permits or pesky meter feeding required. Driveway parking is reserved for our permanent residents. Everything is digital, no keys to weigh you down during your time out and about. I set a new code for each guest which assures total privacy and security during your stay.

The Neighborhood

Overview

I love the Magnolia Park area of Burbank. This property sits next to the Chandler bike path and is walking distance from the downtown Burbank area. There's convenient food, markets and plenty of shopping nearby.

Getting Around

I always recommend rideshares such as Uber or Lyft, but public transportation is equally within reach.

Other Things to Note

I have been in the hospitality industry since 2005. I owned and operated two hotels and I have traveled extensively. My sensibilities are for the traveler and the amenities included in your stay meet my high standards for quality hotel accommodations. In addition, the Urban Retreat offers the fastest and most reliable internet available in the city.

House Rules

I cater to the nonsmoker without pets. Smoking is not permitted inside the apartment nor on the property. Our other tenants dislike the aroma. We love small non-human friends, but unfortunately they are not allowed at the property. We observe quiet time from 10pm to 8am and kindly request that you do the same by turning down your music or television during these times. This is a 2nd-story apartment with stairs. Not suitable for persons who require an elevator.

This property is very lovely! It had everything I needed for my stay with even a nice touch of complimentary stuff! The studio apartment was perfect! It’s very close to a grocery store and more! Everything was very clean and the owners was very nice! Especially when I had to receive a mail, they delivered it to my door! I would definitely recommend this place!

Great place to stay while in Burbank

This place worked out really great for us. In a great area. Close to everything. The owner left us a bottle of champagne and chocolate which was a nice treat as we were celebrating our 35th Anniversary. The bed is really comfortable and we loved the rain shower head. The only thing we wish it had was a regular coffee maker and a clock next to the bed. The French press is ok but takes time to figure out how to use it and a regular coffee maker is way faster and easier. But overall was a great place to stay. It is near our grandkids so I am sure we will be back. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was incredible! Super clean! Spacious for 2 people! Very welcoming! We will definitely be back :) the area is super quiet and calm, stores of every kind are nearby, just a perfect stay! We can't say enough of this property and the owner is awesome! He gaved us step by step instructions, he left a booklet giving us information for transportation, restaurants, everything! This was very helpful and we truly appreciate it! We truly recommend this place one thousand times! :) We arrived happy and we departured happy hoping to go back pretty soon! Thank you Christopher Matthew for such an unforgetable stay!

TLDR: Great, quiet location with an accurate listing; would definitely stay again after a fantastic experience.Had a wonderful stay at this property! The online description was spot-on, so what you see is truly what you get. The location is excellent—nestled in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood.A couple of friendly notes for future guests: If you have a car and aren't accustomed to LA parking, make sure to read the signs carefully. The rules are clear, but you'll want to be mindful to avoid any issues. The hot water in the shower can be a little finicky, but the host provides clear instructions; just follow their notes, and you'll get it to a comfortable temperature.For anyone who enjoys being active, the Chandler Bikeway is a fantastic path for running, walking, or biking and it’s conveniently just a couple of blocks away. Also, a huge recommendation for foodies: there is an amazing shawarma place called Stop4Shawarma attached to a gas station nearby (I mean, they had me at gas station...). With nearly perfect reviews online, it absolutely lives up to the hype and is a must-try.All in all, it was a great experience, and we would happily book this rental again on a future trip!

I was working in NoHo for a week and after looking carefully at lodging options, chose to stay at the Urban Refuge rather than a hotel. A bit small but nice. Living room/bedroom combo, full kitchen, full bathroom+dressing area. Probably not comfortable (size) for more than 2 adults. Second floor private access. Far nicer than any hotel in the area at this price point. The host was very responsive and courteous. The furnishing and amenities are all brand new and comfortable. There was a bottle of prosecco, breakfast bars, and toiletries provided upon my arrival. Close to plenty of attractions and dining. Plentiful on-street parking. Vibrant neighborhood. Really, there is nothing negative to say.

Clean, Updated, Quiet place!

My sister and I stayed here for a weekend and had a great experience. The neighborhood is quiet and there was plenty of street parking. The apartment itself was clean and had updated amenities. The bed was very comfortable as well! The only reason I am not rating it 5 stars is that there was only a thin blanket on the bed. I would recommend having at least another spare blanket available in case guests are cold or would just like one to cuddle on the couch with. We arrived late ~1 am and it was too late to contact the host. I did contact he manager the next day and she informed me that extra blankets are stocked in the fall and winter, and that the owner would happily provide us with another. We decided we would be fine without another blanket since we were only there for one more night. Other than that, everything was great and you could tell Christopher really put care into all details of the space. Thank you! If I ever need a place to stay in the Burbank area again, I would love to come back!

The property was exactly as shown in pictures. It was great to have a bigger refrigerator to hold groceries. Very accessible to highways for work my work meetings. Owners were very accommodating and quick to respond to my questions.

everything about this place was LOVELY! i would stay here again in a heartbeat. the owners were super easy to contact when i couldn’t figure out how to open the door, there was complimentary champagne waiting for us, silverware, linens, toiletries! and there was a great little packet that had information about the property and about the surrounding area with food and activities! the only tiny problem was that the checkout time on the information packet was wrong, so we were rushed out early by the housekeeper. but everything else was perfect!

My husband and I rented for 17 days in November. Christopher and Gloria were excellent hosts. The location in Magnolia Park neighborhood was perfect for us. We love the cozy and homey feeling of this space. Amazingly comfortable bed, and delicious coffee provided with a French press! Also, a washer and dryer! The only drawback for me is the need for more ambient lighting in the room, and perhaps another nightstand.

Excellent Studio

The owners of this adorable studio have thought of everything. They are prompt, courteous, and so considerate! My husband used this space for 3 weeks as an office because our kids have been home from school for an ENTIRE YEAR now thanks to Covid, and getting work done at home has become darn near impossible. He found the space beautifully decorated, cozy, and inviting. He said if he were a young man living alone - which I'm sure he wishes he was at this point in the pandemic LOL - he'd live in this space in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!!

Great owner - great property!

My fiance and I spent 4 nights at this apartment. It was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. Great neighborhood, quiet, convenient. Owners were super communicative and accommodating. Parking was a little bit of a challenge on street-sweeping day, but we parked a block over and it was a nice, pleasant, safe walk back to the property (no big deal). Exceeded my expectation

Gloria and Christopher were courteous and hospitable hosts. The property was clean, quiet and most importantly SAFE! It has all the amenities one would have at home. The location itself is excellent. Surrounded by great shopping and dining options. It is also a short drive away from Hollywood and Downtown LA. This is a great home away from home option.
