About this property
Redhawk Retreat - An Artist-built, Cordwood cabin experience
COLORADO ORIGINAL Designed and built by painter/sculptor Jim Redhawk, this cordwood cabin is literally one-of-a-kind. Nestled into an aspen grove with a sunny Southern exposure, Redhawk Retreat is a rustic escape. Private, yet not secluded, the glade next to the cabin is a favorite resting spot for the local elk and moose to hide from the winter wind and the summer heat. With views across South Park to Pike's Peak and a sunset over the Western ridge.

About the host
Hosted by Douglas Webster

My family has been in and around Breckenridge since the late 1960's. When it came time for me to buy a home in Colorado, we ranged over the pass to find Redhawk. Liz and I bought the house from the original owners/designers/builders Jim and Beth Redhawk. Both artists, the home is literally their largest 'piece'. We have owned the home for the past two decades. Living here year-round one season while I took on an emergency vacancy at the local high school as music and performing arts director.
Liz and I make our 'other' home in Portland, Oregon. Our work takes us across the country and Internationally as concert and theater musicians.
While we are away, we are happy to share our home for you to also enjoy Redhawk Retreat.

Why they chose this property
"Redhawk" is not only the name of the builder and the name carved into the front door. It has become the moniker for the home, itself. As performing artists, we had a desire for our home to be in line with our own sense of individuality. Meeting Jim and Beth and learning of the community effort that went into the construction of the house, we felt an immediate kinship with their home.
What makes this property unique
Constructed as a 'cordwood' home, it is a perfect model for the style. High efficiency heat retention makes this home warm in the winter with a low environmental impact.
